I have been coming here for over 10 years and each time is the same, amazing, quality experience every time I go! If you want hair, makeup or spa services, this is the only place to look in the Sarasota and Bradenton area. Love the ladies at Acqua Aveda! My daughter who is 6 and I come/came in for anything from hair emergencies, my wedding hair extensions (which looked incredibly natural), routine cuts, & mani-pedis. My daughter has always gone to a salon for her hair cuts however never felt comfortable enough to lean back and have her hair washed until we came to Acqua Aveda! I highly recommend them!!! I had a great spa pedicure and a really nice no chip manicure But my no chip chipped in a day! Had it done Saturday afternoon and noticed chips on 4 nails Monday morning. I am on vacation and not doing anything that would cause this to happen. The spa itself is very nice and so is the staff. Read Less

Not impressed and definitely did not book with this salon after a phone call. I called in to ask about having my hair curled.. that's it...for my beach wedding. Was told $95 dollars because I said I was a bride. I figured she just didn't understand- so- I explained, "no, not a bridal up-do. Just curls with one side pinned back or just curl it and i can pin it myself, this cant possibly be $95" Yep, $95. So I asked would I be charged $95 if i was not the bride? No. They weren't willing to discuss any other options with me and were totally unhelpful. Yes- I understand that more care and attention is given to a brides hair on the wedding day but for $95 I better come outta there with actual strands of gold in my hair. Ridiculously poor service. I made an appointment for a massage and facial after wrangling to find a time when the woman could do both. Apparently she doesn't work often. When I arrived, I was told she had called in sick. They said they had been unable to reach me to let me know. They were trying to contact a "Beth" at a 338 number. My name is Debbie at a 778 number. When I complained, the snotty receptionist told me, "Well, you wouldn't want someone working on you who was sick, would you?". I told her that wasn't the point. Came in for a massage during a girls getaway. My massage therapist was Dawn.  She was very professional and also very amazing. Being that I am a massage therapist myself, my standards are pretty high and I tend to be rather picky about details. This massage far exceeded my already high expectations! Massage... the best that I have ever had...and I have had a lot. Dawn McCarthy,the masseuse, was incredible. She didn't talk once she started after the foot bath; she used hot towels countered by cold hands;she didn't rush and the pressure was excellent. I'm giving this three stars for now because today I had a mixed experience. When I called to book a brow waxing I asked how much it'd be to get a 'trim.' I was told that there is no special 'trim' price but a haircut was $40. That was a good price, so I booked that, too. Here's the good part -- I had a good brow wax from a lovely woman called Susan (I think), and a nice light massage and haircut and styling tips from a lovely woman called Rachel (I think). I was happy with my haircut and brows, and I was thinking about coming back there in a month or so for a perm. Then I went to pay and was told that the bill was $75! I questioned it and was told that the price for a haircut was $55. I said that on the phone, I was clearly told the price was $40. The receptionist said she was sorry. Later I called the salon and spoke to the manager. I explained that her receptionist had made a mistake and I asked for a $15 credit for my next visit. The person I spoke to checked with the manager and then said no, they did not do credits, and it was "very unlikely" that the receptionist would have told me the wrong price. I told her that if they wouldn't give me a credit, I would not be back. So then I got the credit, and I will gladly go back and try again, but next time I'm going to be careful to check the prices and not rely on the receptionist to tell me what I'm paying! Arrived on time for appointment, spent 7 minutes waiting at reception desk while owner chatted with a friend about houses.  The other gal at desk joined in conversation when she got off her phone call.  When the owner finally acknowledged that I was standing right in front of her she stated she could not see me because the sun was in her eyes.  When I stated that perhaps a pull down shade on the windows would help she mimicked me!  No apologies or welcome for me.  I was stunned she I found out she was the owner as she reminded me of a snotty teenager. Made an appointment for same day for color and cut. Thought better of it and decided I only needed a hair cut at the moment. Knowing how salons book blocks of time for certain processes, I called back within a few minutes to let them know I would only need a hair cut. I was being respectful of the stylist's time. The receptionist made it sound as though they had plenty of appointments available that day and if I needed to change times, that would be fine. So, when I arrived to my appointment, scheduled for 2:15pm and I arrived at 2:13pm, I was told that my stylist would be right out. I was asked if I wanted a glass of water while I waited. I took the glass of water and waited. And waited. And waited. After sitting and WAITING for 37 minutes, I walked up to the receptionist and said "cancel my appointment. Clearly my time is not as valuable as someone else's!" The receptionist didn't say a word. Instead she huffed and marched over to the bench I was sitting at and picked up my empty glass. As if to scold me for leaving it there. I was so incensed when I left that I called and asked to speak with the manager. I was advised that he was out of the salon. I asked when he would be back and the woman rudely replied "we're working with a skeleton crew until Tuesday!" Ok, not my problem as a customer. That didn't answer my question about the manager's time frame and the attitude is unnecessary. So, to sum this all up. This is an Aveda salon that clearly is poorly managed. They lack employees with couth and have the WORST customer service. Read Less

Hi, I am an employee (master stylist) at Acqua. I read the above review and am sorry to see that she had such a bad experience. Sometimes the days before (and day of) a wedding can be very stressful for the bride. We ALWAYS do our best to accommodate our guests- it is our goal to make everyone that comes into our salon/spa feel calm and relaxed. After all, Aveda salons and spas pride themselves not only on the results of your services, but on the experience from the moment you walk in the door. Our wedding parties always require a contract (we book out a lot of time for wedding parties- and are in HIGH demand for weddings), so there may have been some confusion or miscommunication involving the above writer. Like I said, we always do our best to accommodate all of our guests, so the only thing I can guess that happened is that we may not have been able to squeeze another appointment in, or someone in the party may have been late for an appointment. Everyone that works here gets along very well (as well as the owner), and that creates a wonderful atmosphere... It wouldn't make sense for us to do anything but our best for everyone, because that is what we've been trained to do and that is who we are. So please come in and try us out!
