This nail salon does a great job with nails and pedicures. I did want a touch up one day, only 9 days after a manicure, and they re-did my nails, charging full price. I had a bad experience here. I made an appointment for 3 people. We finally were helped 40 minutes after the appointment time. During my manicure my technician got up and walked away 4 times for 1-2 minutes. My nails for my pedicure were cut crooked. I got stabbed during my pedicure and started bleeding. I had an appointment at 1:30. Did not seat me until 2 pm. At 2:15, the technician realized she was double booked and shifted me to another technician. I had to wait another 10 minutes for the new technician. The new technician was rough on my cuticles causing bleeding on a finger. This was my first time here and while I did not have a good experience my fiancé did. Tina did my fiancé’s nails and was so sweet, talked to her, and took her time and her nails came out fantastic. There aren't many places that do dip powder on natural nails in Gainesville, but I think I found the best one! Yesterday I got a gel manicure and pedicure which came out to $62 and today it is ALREADY CHIPPED. Needless to say, I am 100% dissatisfied with this service. I tried to excuse the fact that my pedicure did not come with a foot/calf massage and again with the lack of hospitality by not offering me a drink the  when I finally asked for one it was a completely warm soda. But now that it is less than 24 hours and my GEL MANI is CHIPPED???? Ridiculous. Read Less

I went here to get a pedicure and a gel manicure. My experience at this nail salon was fine, but the quality of the gel polish is a joke. My first nail chipped within 3 days and after 1 week all but 2 nails have fully lifted and peeled off my nail in one sheet. The polish says it will last up to 21 days which it came nowhere close. For as fast as the gel polish chips you might as well just pay to get a regular manicure. Would not recommend. Read Less

I have been going to Venus Nails since my Junior prom and I absolutely love it! Every time I leave, my nails look great and I never feel overcharged. Easily the worst eyebrow waxing I have ever received :'( I had gone here for the first time 3 weeks ago, and Kim did an amazing job on my gel nails. Super sweet person, took her time, and my nails looked great. Unfortunately today, when I returned, I did not have the same experience. I was rushed into the waxing, the lady did not listen to my request to just shape - instead taking off a large area of my full brows, AND left them uneven, and burned me with the wax leaving a line of red burned painful skin under my brow. I was upset but there was nothing to be done - just time will heal my skin and let my brows grow back. >:( Right after this waxing I went for gel nails, and unfortunately also had a poor experience; the lady left my nails unevenly filed and not rounded symmetrically. I am extremely unhappy overall with this experience today and consider it a painful waste of money - lesson learned, ask for Kim or don't go. :'/ Read Less

I've been coming to the salon now for several months after leaving Royal Nails, which I went to for a couple of years. The prices are pretty comparable but overall, the service at Venus is 100% better! As with other salons, some of the technicians do better work than others but in general, they all do a decent job. The salon is clean and from what I can tell, all of their instruments are cleaned and sanitized after each customer. They have several technicians there so your wait time will be minimal, the longest I've ever had to wait was approximately 10 minutes. All of their technicians are extremely nice and accommodating, they even offer free beverages to their customers. Since nail salons are a dime a dozen in the Gainesville area, I'm sure each salon has its pros and cons. Venus nails works for me, I'm sure they're not the best but I also know they're nowhere near the worst! The location is very convenient for me and I welcome the pleasant atmosphere and friendly technicians. I've never had a bad experience at this salon and if you're unhappy, they will do whatever it takes to make it right for you without giving you an attitude!  It's obvious they are all about customer care and customer satisfaction, I just don't think that you can go wrong at the salon. Wasn't impressed, service was very rushed. The technician couldn't speak any English and wound not trim my toe nails short enough, and she smudged my polish and said it was ok. Over all I will continue to find a place in town that doesn't treat me like a number. Only 3 stars cause most of their tools are one time use only. I went to Venus Nail Spa to get a gel manicure. I feel bad for leaving a mediocre review, but it's akin to the service I received. Don't get me wrong- the staff was incredibly friendly. However, I think that the manicure process does need to be improved.There were several issues that I experienced while receiving my manicure. First, they cut my cuticles to the point that they were lightly bleeding. I have never had this issue at another salon. One of the cuts throbbed for days and ended up becoming inflamed/infected. Second, they did not smooth out my nails after filing the tips. As a result, the thread from their cotton balls got stuck to my nails. This thread was not removed prior to painting my nails, despite me pointing the pieces out and trying to remove them myself. Lastly, my nails started chipping just days after getting my manicure. This might have something to do with the cotton threads and uneven filing. My gel manicures usually last at least two weeks before signs of wear and tear. After just five days, the tips of my nails started to chip and the polish around my cuticles started to lift. Read Less

I got a pedicure for my first visit to this salon.  Most of the pedicure chairs were filled, but I got right in.  The staff isn't the friendliest and the pedicure was just average.  The location definitely helps their business, otherwise I don't think they would be as busy as they were.  The lowest price pedicure is $25, which I guess is the going rate.  I will keep looking for a better place. Lovely salon, but they don't know how to do a manicure. The salon is clean and attractively decorated. They push the gel manicures because they can't make the traditional manicures last.  Try painting the very tip or top of the nail. Coming from the east coast, I never had a manicure that didn't last at least 6 days (usually longer). What do the NE salons do better or different? 1. they use a better quality base and top coat (the used here was dull after one day).2. offer a larger variety of colours. 3.They paint the top of the nail (over the edge) and that has lasting power. 4. They spend time on the massage. It is stronger leaving my arms and hands feel invigorated. In fact all of the women are trained in massage and they give you a shoulder massage while your nails are drying.5. Offer a beverage -- doesn't help the manicure, but makes you feel pampered.I am in search of a great salon in Gainesville, one that knows how to do a manicure. Am I asking too much? Read Less

I have come here several times and tried different technicians.. So far they all have been good, I would say great but the last two occasions they didn't paint all the way to the cuticle and my gel manicure only lasted a week instead of the two weeks most gel manicures last. I'm back again because it's clean, they take walk ins and it's not overly crowded. They offer several other services from facials to waxing. I read the previous reviews online so I decided this would be a great place to get my nails done. For having such a prestigious location in Haile Plantation I expected much better service than what I received. One of the technicians' kids were running around the salon while I was there which ruined the whole quiet ambience I was wanting. I had acrylic nails done and they were very thick and sloppy - my technician got the acrylic all over my fingers. Within a week and a half the corners were lifting. They work hard to do a good job here! We have been coming here since they opened over 4 years ago and they know my mom, my sisters and our puppies by name! We can call at 5:30 for a 6 PM appointment and they will even stay late to finish all of us. I love the way they do my pink and whites and you can choose which shade of pink you want. My mom and sisters get the gel nails and they swear by them because they don't chip like regular nail polish does!They do sterilize everything in their store, unlike what another user posted. Also, there can be a little bit of a wait for walk-ins but they are between a frozen yogurt store and a coffee shop, so you can always entertain yourself while you wait. Read Less
