I've been going here for eyebrows for a few months now. Sandy is really good at her job. I went in the first time with uneven eyebrows, one of which barely even existed. Sandy fixed it pretty fast and has been doing them nicely since. She's very kind and tries hard to work you into her schedule (which is sometimes hard since she's the only waxer right now). Still, even though she's very busy she takes her time with waxing to make sure she gets the details every single time. She's great to talk to and cares about her clients. Would not recommend or return. I went to gator nails for a manicure and pedicure. The room i was in was filled with random junk and nothing looked clean. None of the tools she used were clean. She just took them off her filthy stand and wiped them off with a paper towel. Polish was just in a giant cardboard box on the floor. She started by pushing back my cuticles but didn't cut them or any of my hangnails off. Then she unevenly shaped them and didn't remove the frayed edges.... Never cleaned my hands or under my nails and just painted clear polish on them. The pedicure chair was again dirty. She globed on so much paint on my toe nails that she spent 20 mins after trying to clean them up with acetone and a paintbrush. Instead of making them look better the polish just spread and all my toes were just red all around the nails. By far the worst pedicure I've ever received. I was really excited to try gator nails from all the wonderful reviews! But unfortunately my experience was not great. Everyone was incredibly friendly, but I will not be returning. It took an hour, due to having to wait on a phone call made by the nail tech to fix something broken in the salon. Unfortunately, the polish color I wanted was only found after the manicure was done with another color. Love this place! I called on a Friday and I was able to make an appointment for my friend and I the next day with Sandy. I wanted to try Gator Nails because I went to another place recently and really didn't like the acrylics I got. I ended up soaking them off so when I went to Gator Nails, I wanted to be able to communicate exactly what I wanted. Sandy took the time to listen and asked me the whole way through if I liked what she was doing or if I wanted to change anything. I even asked for a nail shape she wasn't familiar with and she was able to accommodate. This took a few hours but only because of what I requested but we didn't mind because she wanted our nails to be perfect and it was worth it! I will definitely make another appointment to get a fill! I have been a customer of Sandy Washburn since 2000, I was given a gift certificate for Christmas 1999, I went for a manicure but got a full set of acrylic nails because all my nails had broken. I've never been able to have my own nails, they are soft and shred. I go every 2 weeks and now do pink and whites with clear Polish. I wear a natural short length, I am constantly getting compliments on my nails. They offer other services as well. It's best to have an appointment. Robin, Ashley, and Cindy are other nail techs too. I just started moved here and decided to give this place a try and it was AMAZING. Ashleigh did my nails and she took her time to make my nails perfect and extremely comfortable and pretty. This was an aweful experience, and easily the worst pedicure I've ever gotten. Erin did my pedicure and was completely unprofessional and incompetent. The place was dirty, the equipment questionable, Erin was a mess, and the pedi was incomplete and very poorly done.  She took so long getting set up that she didn't clip my nails or do a top coat. I said I would just cut them when I got home if she didn't feel like it and she said okay. I went with it because I just wanted the waste of time and money to end. I highly recommend this place! Although I wasn't able to walk in, they were able to get me in a couple days later. Definitely worth it. Robin was super nice and funny, and very meticulous with my nails. She made sure they were exactly the way I wanted them. Only $15 for a fill - and she put in a good hour and a half of work. Despite their excellent word of mouth and google reviews, it took me 5 years of living in the neighborhood to make it to Gator Nails. I'm more of an impromptu mani-pedi girl and they were usually booked when I called. I struck gold yesterday, when I took a chance and Ashleigh had an opening for a mani. Their prices are competitive ($10 for a regular polish, $25 for shellac) and the service is excellent. I just wanted to give a wonderful review of where I get my nails done. I would recommend gator nails to anyone who wants quality. I have been a loyal customer for two years and I couldn't think of one thing to complain about. They have treated me so well and the quality is beyond what you would find elsewhere. They take their time and care about their work. I personally go to get shellac on my hands and it always comes out perfect, only 25 bucks too. I've had manis and pedis as well as getting my eyebrows waxed and everyone is lovely. While i personally don't get acrylics, I've seen the work that comes out of here and they are perfect. I really miss Ashleigh. She changed the definition of "good manicure" in my book. Also she played Wind-FM while making my nails look impeccable. What could top that?Before I moved away, she gave me tips on what to look for when choosing a manicurist. I'm keeping those in mind in my new city, but so far, the results have been lackluster. i've been looking for a place to get my nails done in gainesville since i relocated here from boston in july. there are plenty of places around, but it seems that many of them specialize in acrylics. call me crazy, but i was holding out until i found somewhere that i knew wouldn't wreck my natural nails!gator nails didn't come up on my initial yelp search but popped up i googled "where to get your nails done in gainesville" since it's close to where i live. there were EXCELLENT reviews on google places, so with my interest piqued, i did some more investigating. their facebook page reassured me that i had found my place! the page has pictures of clients' nails- long, short, natural, acrylic, shellac, regular polish- and they all looked fabulous!fast forward to this morning. called at 10:15, booked an appointment for mani/pedi for 11. called back to add shellac to my service, they made sure that a tech that was a shellac expert would be on hand. ashleigh was right on time and super friendly. i had broken a toenail (ugh) so she spent extra time and took great care to make sure my poor nubby toe didn't look so... well, nubby. fantastic pedi, very thorough! i was also being a pain in the butt about want i wanted for my hands- a light pink with a silver glitter gradient on the tips. she wanted to make sure it was perfect, so she consulted with sandy (another shellac expert, i hear, also such a doll!) to see what we could do. i ended up going with a deep red to match my toes and it was done PERFECTLY. i'm serious. absolute perfection. i'm really particular about how my nails are shaped and she totally catered to that.prices are competitive (i paid $50 for my shellac mani and regular pedicure which is standard in my experience, a regular mani/pedi is $35- again, standard) and they accept cash or check ONLY. other services include waxing, facials, $10 mini pedis and $5 polish changes.as far as i'm concerned, this is my new go-to!
