Staying at a hotel within walking distance. Lena made arrangements to get me an appointment the day I called. She prefers appointments as she's the only nail tech available at this time. She was very sweet and we chatted the entire time. The salon was clean and decorated for the holidays. She helped me choose a festive color and gave me a manicure and pedicure. I am a bi racial female, I always carry myself as a lady and with grace. It's disgusting I was turned down for my skin color when in actuality I was trying something new. I can't begin to say how great this place is. Super friendly, comfortable, great work. Lena is a great manicurist and Stanley is a consumate hairdresser. I was in Ft. Lauderdale on a day off.  I rented a scooter and scooted down the street to do a few loads of laundry, and figured I'd swing by and get my toenails painted (it beats staring at the washer waiting for the spin cycle to end).  When I arrived, the sign on the door said open, but the door was locked.  It was a little before 5pm, and even though her hours posted said she was open until 6, she had decided to take off early and was next door at the bar having a drink.  Someone went and got her to let her know she had a customer, and she said she was closed for the day.I guess what I'm saying is - call ahead. What is wrong with everyone? This place is filthy, the woman is rude and overcharges for shoddy work! If you are a tourist, don't be tricked into coming here. I came in to a dirty, empty salon where she told me that she didn't have time to help me. I'm so sorry, didn't realize you were inundated with customers! Then she told me I ha to schedule an appointment so I did as to not look rude. She called me the next morning to confirm and by then I had asked around about the salon and knew I definitely wasn't doing business with this place. She gave me a huge attitude and hung up the phone. I get a full set French manicure and pedicure every two to three weeks and would have been a good long-term client and woolly mind paying a higher price for a place I loved. I loved going to Lena's- I just moved to Fort Lauderdale from Detroit and I'm soo happy I found her- like super super nice girl!!! My mani and pedi are to die for!! When I first moved down I tried a couple of other places but not as friendly or clean as Lena's!! I felt just by talking to her I've know her all my life-lol!! Great experience!!! This salon has class, great service, and a very friendly, welcoming staff that knows what they're doing! I popped in here on a late Friday afternoon, very last minute right before Memorial Day weekend and got really lucky to actually get Lena to fix up my acrylic nails without an appointment. I was very hesitant, because I'm quite picky about my acrylic nails, but they were in dire need of a fill and touch up! Lena did a great job on the acrylic fill and finished them off with clear gel polish on top. If I'm ever back in the area and need a nail fix, I will definitely be at this salon. Read Less
