My friend and I came to see Dilenia to get our hair straightened and styled for prom. She was very friendly, professional, and she gives good suggestions on what is best for your hair. She takes her time to make sure that she does the hair the way you want it. Me and my friend will be going to her again and we will be daily clients of hers. Read Less

So after weeks of searching carefully online for the right person to do my hair, I choose to come here to Dilenia's.  I haven't had a haircut in 3 years and was very nervous about going to just anybody since I think almost everybody can relate to having terrible experiences with hairdressers. I always heard great things about dominican hairdressers/stylists and so I searched and found Dilenia and OMG am I glad I did.  She is the sweetest, kindest and most caring hairstylist I've ever met. She's very knowledgeable and skilled at what she does. I wanted some long layers done but was undecided/unsure of exactly what to do with it or how to get it done, and Dilenia was great at explaining to me what exaclty works best for my hair and what to go with.  She made sure to retain the length I wanted while giving me some awesome volume and bounce. My hair has life! I am beyond pleased with my experience with Dilenia, any expectation I had was more than surpassed. I also got a blow out which made my hair look ridiculously amazing and made me feel like a diva lmao.  I have really straight, dark, flat and often greasy hair, and Dilenia was great on giving me tips as to what works best for me, and her work on my hair was amazing. Unfortunatley, I didn't get a chance to take a pic right after, but the great thing is that I can recreate it as Dilenia went out of her way to show me how to style it and what exactly to do to get that much desired voluminous waves and bounce! On arrival, Dilenia was super kind and greeeted us with some delicious coffee and great conversion; she really makes you feel at home. I can definitely say that I'll be coming back soon. We discussed also the possiblity of getting some balayage highlights done and how that would work for me, and since I'll defo be back in 3 months for a trim, I might just take the plunge! I want to start by saying that I have never written a bad review in my life but I honestly feel like people should be warned. I must say that dilenia is bubbly and very friendly and ill give her that but professionally I don't feel like she knew what she was doing. I chose that salon due to the 5 star yelp ratings and I'm wondering if people got paid for that. I have been to a number of salons and not once have I experienced anything so terrible. I arrived there at 17:30 and left at 05:00 with half of my hair broken off. I explained to her that I wanted to fix the bassiness at the top of my head but wanted to avoid any damage. I tried to show a picture and talk through what I wanted but all she kept saying was "I got you I got you" and would continue to speak about my hair in spanish to the assistant  which I can't understand. my hair was not very dark and the roots could easily have come out a nice colour which I know seeing as iv had highlights since I was 13. The little hair that I left with was as yellow as the sun. She went next door a few times to ask how much product she should be mixing and got toner in my eye TWICE. She was so rough I honestly thought someone was going to jump out and say I'm on some version of punked or something. My back was sopping wet amd I sat there completely depressed and crying my eyes out thinking I was going to walk out bald and blind. A keratin treatment was done straight after and while I'm no expert, many people have told me that should not be done on the same day. It also did not work at all. My hair has never looked or felt worse amd I told her that. She apologised and I didn't pay (although she still tried to get me to buy the shampoos) but it's too late my hair is gone and there is nothing that anybody can do to fix it. I'm not claiming that my hair was in perfect condition but if she saw any damage she should not have touched those parts with colour. Again my problem was only with the roots not the rest of my hair. She takes her time and always gives me good advice on how to maintain my hair. Her partner Angie is also amazing, she gave me a gel mani and pedi while Dilenia finished my hair.
