But then when I asked for the hair cut I asked for a fade on the sides and the back and instead got a bald shave all over. I actually like this spot. Yes, they have a few start up snags to work out (like all start ups) but overall I’ve always enjoyed my experience there. Easy booking (though a few bugs in the software - no big deal), pretty cool staff, and good-enough stylists. One recommendation I’d make for the management is to figure out a way to retain their stylists, though, because I noticed a lot of them trying to side hustle and get me to go to their own place. The phone call that I made to make the appointment was practically an interrogation. (Full name, address, phone number, email address, how did you hear about us...) At "date of birth" I nearly passed on the appointment - and oh, how I wish I had. I make little money and treat myself very rarely. I never got the special services I was excited about (hot towel and shave). I mean, they asked SO MANY irrelevant questions but didn't get the MOST IMPORTANT ones right! The clientele that makes you successful makes more money than I do, and I suspect many of them can afford memberships with your company - therefore I imagine you won’t care about one working-class customer. The work that was done was competent and looked good - but it was NOT what I (very clearly) asked for. As I am an actor, this aggressive change in my appearance has created trouble for me at work. I shared this tale with people I've met in town, and I've been told that your stylists are KNOWN for giving the cut they think you need, not what you want. I spent more on this present to myself than I will on groceries this week, and all I did was purchase a disappointment. I am polite and tip well, even when I can’t afford it. I made a reservation with Michael @ 6:00pm.  Got attended within 10 minutes and got an excellent result. Highly recommend you all ask for Michael. He asked a lot of questions, as he wanted to know exactly what I wanted. He gave several recommendations and at the end I got a style that was better and more in style that what I had in mind. Hi Yelpers. My name is Tim, and I moved to Miami from LA in July. My stylist (and great  friend) J.R. In Los Angeles had worked miracles on my hair for seven years (in his spare time, in addition to styling for America's Next Top Model and a variety of other shows and red carpet events), and when I moved here I was set on finding someone outstanding. Determined to make technology work for me, I started following several Miami barbershops on instagram. At my final haircut in LA, I showed J.R. my phone and said, "based on these instagram photos of their cuts, which barber do you think I should try in Miami?" After perusing photos for a several minutes, he pointed at my phone and decisively proclaimed, "him. This guy. @lmateo. Try him. He's my pick."  The barber he was pointing at was Luis Mateo at Well Groomed Gentleman in Coral Gables, a conveniently short uber ride from my new apartment in Coconut Grove.Luis is a phenomenal barber and fantastic person whom I'm happy to call a friend here in Miami. Within 5 minutes of sitting in his chair, I knew that I was in excellent hands. His barbering techniques are second to none (watching him cut downward to texturize my hair is pretty thoroughly awe-inspiring) and, additionally, he's one of the warmest, nicest, most welcoming, genuine people I know. I've gotten compliments on my hair regularly, both in person here in Miami and from my friends back home, based on my occasional Facebook and Instagram photos. One friend even remarked, "I think Miami Tim's hair is even edgier than LA Tim's hair!"A warning is in order though: Luis's haircuts aren't for everybody. They're only for people who want to look great and be happy. The whole staff at Well Groomed Gentleman is friendly and welcoming. I absolutely adore Jeannie and everyone at the front desk, and Brad the operations manager is super cool. The environment is clean and posh, and your hand is never without a drink (bourbon? Rum? Cuban coffee?) unless you want it to be. The attached pic is from today's haircut. I'm smiling because I just learned three new tricks for how to self-style my hair at home. Really want to like this place. Nice atmosphere, friendly people. But today was the second time that I had made an appointment and they did not seat me for more than 20 minutes after my appointment. I understand busy, but when people with appointments the same time as mine that come after me are taken before me, I can't stomach that.Three people asked me if I wanted a drink but zero came to actually cut my hair. Love the style, but need the substance.  At $37 a haircut, the least you can do is get me in at my appointment time. Read Less

Well...... after reading a few reviews and seeing mixes experiences I decided to make an appointment. The booking process was easy, but seems that they don't care about appointments. I arrived 3 minutes before my appointment. I checked in with the lady at the front desk, and even when I select "ANY EMPLOYEE" by the time I arrived no one was available so I was told to take a seat and wait. I was very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the staff. Fiorella was very thorough, the quality of her work is excellent. I had a manicure and pedicure while enjoying an ice cold Heineken. I then had a haircut and shave with Khal. He was great, can't say enough about his attention to detail. I was new to the area months ago when I first started going here I signed up for the monthly membership which comes in super handy with the free services that are included and the 20% off of all their items at store wide I don't know the honest with their pricing but very nice with their clients everyone feels as if you know you're excepted on it's always very clean all the guys and girls ladies you to work there are super super nice I personally get my haircut by Homie Ho...mmy, he does a great job on the managers they do a great job front desk awesome and down some of the other barbers that I've gotten my haircut with on the short notice or last-second arm again all-around great job on I've seen the evolution of the place they've added new chairs I top-of-the-line products overall I would write this place is a definite five and I would recommend it to anyone that lives around or even doesn't know me and you know. Visited for the first time right before the New Year's holiday and I feel like a new man. I've looked for a place to get my hands and feet cleaned up as well as a place that would give my look a refresh. WOW! I found one place in which I could do it all....Well Groomed Gentleman! First time client. Online appointment process is flawless. I arrived on time for my haircut and was out the door 25 mins after. Angel cut my hair and he did an excellent job. There was no pressure for added services or products that you often find in other salons. I am only giving 4 stars, and not the 5 stars I know this salon has potential for because of cleanliness. There was hair everywhere i looked while i was getting my cut, and to be expected, but I didn't see anyone sweeping, cleaning, and keeping it tight, like the haircut I received. I must say I never really write reviews but I just have to share the experience my friend and I had yesterday. We are currently on a two week road trip across America, hitting as many ballparks as we can. The trip started in DC then Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis, Atlanta, Tampa and now Miami. That started a little over a week ago. Driving over 3,000 miles in a week with your buddy can drain anyone and not make them feel like themselves. Wh...en we walked in we were greeted by Rick. He was so warm and welcoming that we immediately felt right at home. I had my haircut and beard trim done by Juan who was a master with the scissors. I left the chair feeling like a bespoke suit... tailored and clean. Then Fiorella was just as awesome as she completed my Mani Pedi session. She was very friendly.
