Recommended by a colleague, and since I am forever searching for a perfect mani/pedi services and product, I decided to pop in and give this place a try. First week, an amazing regular manicure done by Vy. I decided to come back and made an online appointment through their website, requesting Vy as the tech. I showed up next week (on time), only to be told the following excuses while scrambling to find the apparently missing Vy: 1. "Vy is never on time anyway, she gets the appt notifications but doesn't check them," 2. "Did you really want Vy in particular though?," 3. "Vy isnt picking up her phone, so come back at 2 PM, shell be here then."Hey, Kim and the rest of the crew at Gables Nails: why bother having an appointment system at all if your techs won't honor the appointments?? If I request a specific person for my service, barring an emergency or other explainable reason, I want THAT person for my services. Fairly simple. Absolutely one of the worst manicures I have ever gotten in my life. I knew it was bad in the salon,  but didn't realize how bad until I got outside and saw it in sunlight (the salon has very poor lighting). There wasn't much I could do to direct the "technician" since she didn't speak a word of English and the receptionist was rather lazy and uncaring when we complained about something else.  She was not sanitary and kept using her dirty finger to clean the cuticle clippers, cut a finger (and of course didn't treat it), painted my nails so they are splotchy, left clumps of polish by my cuticles and to top it off it chipped within hours of this "manicure".  Today's manicure was a total waste of $15 and my time. This is not the kind of review I like to do but I think it's necessary. I even thought about it over night before posting.I was recommended to this place and because I needed my nails done I didn't want to pay attention to the reviews. The young lady at the front was very nice. The lady who did my many pedi was pleasant; I introduced myself hoping she would too but she just smiled. It was all going well until we got to my mani. I was very specific with what I wanted square top with rounded corner and to make sure the side were well painted because otherwise the mani won't last.She filled down my right hand way lower than my left without even asking me first if I wanted then shorter, which I didn't.The tops werent square and none of the nails were left the same length or the same style since some she left rounded.When i told her they weren't even, her excuse was one hand had been longer at which time I actually clarified I had made sure to fill all the same size after my middle finger nail had broken. She did not get all the sides painted as I had asked her either.When the nails were dry, I accidentally touched one against my cheek and felt it wasn't dry. Her explanation was, the last coat left a sticky film that she had to take off, odd I thought but ok. She cleans the nails and the results were some had shine while others looked dull and unevenly coated. I point it out to her and this time she tells me it's because the nail has to be buffed out.  I have been getting gels for over two years and never have I had them buffed out which mind you it didn't work.But wait the best part is I paid $20 more than all the other places I've gone to in the past and that did not include tip or parking because I had to pay for street parking.On a good note, (I think)I brought the issues up while paying and the receptionist did offer to get someone else to fix them but I had to get going after being in there for an hour and half and no reduction was even mentioned.In conclusion, nice people, bad job and coral gable mark up. I've been a bi-weekly client here for the past 3 yrs and would have given the establishment 4 stars up until about 6 months ago when several of the elder staff departed & now its impossible to even reserve my preferred apot time & manicurist ever. I've been having to accomodate days & times which causes an inconvenience where I chose to destress & get pampered. Just today. I arrived 15 min late, after I had to extend  my bi-weekly an extra 5 days, was told my gal had a 7 pm and would not be able to get pedi when I myself have had to wait 15-20 min in the past. I requested to call & ask the 7p to come in 15 min later & was told no. Looking for a new nsil salon no doubt. First time here, I must say I am very pleased.   Selection of colors like no other:  Essie, Essie gel, opi, CND, Orly and many more! I was a loyal customer until today. Every two weeks, I would go in for a gel mani/pedi and the past three times I've visited, the (very rude) receptionist has sat me in a massage chair with my feet soaking in water for at least 20 minutes waiting for someone to come help me. Each time she has never said there would be a wait. Today I sat in that chair for an HOUR before deciding I'd had enough. My advice to Gables Nails: Get a new receptionist who can be honest and kind with guests (especially regulars) and let them know when they come in that they can expect a wait. Read Less

This my second visit to this nail salon. I'm originally from Colorado which is flooded with nail salons but customer service is given where ever you go and is a key focus for any of the salons you go to. They have employees constantly on their phones, calling out and having their own conversations besides focusing on the customer in front of them. I am a 90's kid but even I know when to pay attention to a customer and when it is appropriate to be on my phone. I gave this place a second chance and now I never will come here or recommend this location for nails weather it is at my job, people from home coming to visit etc. If Google allowed zero stars that is what I would select. After finishing lunch at the next door place,  I felt like a mani-pedi was needed. The were available and sat me at the spa chairs. The place is big and is not incredibly organized but the staff is friendly. The technician gave me a magazine and got to work. she was friendly and we chat a little.  They had plenty of enamelChoices. The pedicure was fantastic. So was the manicure. Love this place. I have been coming here for years, almost always for gel mani/pedi which is done in an hour and lasts about 2-3 weeks. I usually book an appointment in advance with the same person, but on the off-chance I swing by as a walk-in, I am almost always paired with someone immediately. DO NOT GO HERE. I went in for a gel manicure and while cutting my cuticles the manicurist deeply cut my thumb on my right hand. She then proceeded to give me a smaller cut on my left thumb nail as well. I posted pictures above but warning there is blood. The bleeding would not subside to the point that I had to leave the salon before she could paint my nails. It was alright , between my job and home i thought this would be a great place to get my pedicure doneIts a nice purple theme nail salon.On this occasion i wasnt focused the phone and i saw a male nail tech checking if a lamp was working for his customer , the guy literally bent over and stared right into the lamp for a good minute eek!! Arent the lamps UV??The guy doing my pedicure was pushing them very hard to the point it was uncomfortable.Have no idea if they offer something to drink but they didn't .I dont know if they have a certain technique to painting the nails but they only paint the surface of the nail and dont get down to the side walls. Pretty good nail place. They take walk-ins with little to no wait. They absolutely refuse to charge tip to credit card which is quiet unfortunate for the ladies when customers don't have cash. Pros: The owner and the employees are very nice, always courteous. The place is very clean. The service is good, I've received mani/pedi by several employees and never had a problem. They have a huge regular polish and gel polish selection. I love that I can walk in and always be seen quickly! Huge plus. Cons: It can be a bit pricey. No, it's not the fanciest nail salon in the gables, but it felt like a true neighborhood local business. And they were so nice, especially the owner. Everyone was super friendly and that simple service is so hard to find in Miami. I will be returning! They take walk-ins! I walked in at 7:30pm; they close at 8pm and they take the last walk-in 30mins before closing. Even though I was their last client, I was greeted with a warm welcome and smile. Mani & pedi was $38, cash tip only.They get 4-stars because I wasn't a fan of the whole decor...red and purple aren't very calming colors. I think with a few cosmetic changes, some new paint colors,  maybe some new chairs and new flooring, I think would create a very spa like feel in there. Overall, friendly & hospitable! I had a terrible experience at this nail salon! I went there on a Sunday afternoon because I was desperately seeking a place that was open and local. To start off, the gentleman that did my pedicure was decent. He was nice and professional but when I went home and observed my feet it wasn't too well done. After that, my manicure was done by the owner (first seat). Being the owner and all I thought she was going to do a great job, I WAS WRONG! It was by far the worse manicure I have ever had. She was done in 10 minutes! I had not done my manicure in 2 months. Therefore, I had a lot of cuticles that needed cutting. Let's just say she didn't even clean the edges! As she was doing my hands, I felt like walking out but I do not have it in me to do so. When I left and sat in my car observing my manicure I was shocked at the terrible job she had done! This is the most efficient Nail Salon in Miami.. So much so that I nearly crush on the owner. She is always impeccably dressed and runs a tight ship. She is constantly walking around verifying everyone is on task and that their quality of painting is up to par with what she expects. I will admit that I have been to other salons where my pedicure lasts maybe a week longer, but 2-3 weeks is great by my standards. I also must disclaim that I never do hands. The place is always packed, but there is never a wait.. Why you may ask? Because the lady doing your nails is not talking to you for an additional hour about her kids or the latest salon "chisme".. So if you are the typical Miami "chismosa", this is not the place for you, but also the reason why it is my number one nail salon in Miami... And the fact that it is in Coral Gables, between my work and home, is even better. The hours are awesome. They are always open and always able to help. You only really need an appointment if you have a favorite nail person. Otherwise, if you're like me, you trust them all because they are all awesome and you will be out within 35 minutes. They also offer gel, OPI and Essie but have all the colors you could ever dream of and many OPI colors, which I think are way better quality than Essie. Read Less

I'm a little biased because I work across the street, and I've been coming here for over two years, and have therefore become friends with Kim (the owner) and her staff. They're not cheap, but they open until 8pm, taking final appts up until like 7:30, have a huge selection variety of Gel colors from different brands, open 6 days a week, 7 on holiday season, and have a large mostly friendly staff.Kim is amazing with manicures, gel, acrylics, all that... she's awesome, and she does awesome eyebrows.BUT my heart belongs to T, he's the reason I go back every two weeks and pay $58.00 for a gel mani and regular pedi.
