After many, many years of driving by Bill's, finally decided to stop in. Probably should have stopped in sooner. Easy access from the highway. Seated within 5 mins of walking in. Drinks within another 5 mins. Orders taken, served, eaten and out the door in about 30 mins total. From outside to inside the place is clean. Service with a smile. Food was good. Salad bar is very good. Mo day special was a pulled pork sandwich with salad bar for 7$, can't beat that. 2 adults and 2 kids put the door with a tip for 45$. Will definitely be back. Read Less

For years, we go out of our way to eat here when traveling through. Bbq Chicken is the best...very smokey and tasty. Tonight I was in the mood for steak. After 4 bites and waiting till waitress circled back around...I sent it back...no flavor. Asked to replace with chicken. She came back with "one" piece of chicken and said they wouldnt charge me extra for the chicken but full price for the steak because I didn't complain sooner and there was only a little piece of steak left (the piece wasnt that big to begin with so that was not accurate or fair). Waitress said the boss wouldn't budge and was very strict. I am not one to take advantage of restaurants and hesitated on complaining in the 1st place. Good local BBQ with daily specials and friendly staff. The chicken is smoky, but moist ...except for that one visit, when the waitress said, "The chicken is really dry tonight." I ignored her advice...she was right. In 25 years of eating at BILL'S, that was the only dry chicken I've had there. So listen to your waitress The salad bar is fine,not fancy but adequate. Looking for Barbeque we found this place after nearby Trenton's annual quilt festival. No brisket which was sad but upon reccomedation from our server we got a delicious pulled pork Sammie on garlic toast and added a salad bar. The Sammie was a good helping of moist Pulled pork on toasty garlic deliciousness and the selection of bbq sauce was typical but satisfying. After a hot day the salad bar hit the spot! It came with all the usual fixings and a few extras. Now it didn't have romaine lettuce but the shredded iceberg was fresh and with all the cukes, tomato, peppers, beets & bacon bits all covered in blue cheese dressing it wasn't a problem! It also had a KFC style chopped coleslaw & tuna salad and fixings for baked potato's (chili butter sour cream) and a dessert selection including ambrosia and banana pudding. My wife and I were passing thru and wanted BBQ. We chose this location based upon better Yelp reviews.  My wife wanted beef brisket, but unfortunately they did not have that on the menu. However, what they did have was very good and inexpensive smoked pork sandwiches. We decided to go with the salad bar instead of fries or a traditional side. The salad was good, and we have been wanting a switch from just starches. Of course, I did have to go back for dessert (ambrosia, banana pudding, and peaches). With a drink, both of our meals were still less than $20. Service was prompt and very friendly, even after we were equivocating about whether or not to eat here since they didn't have brisket. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and would recommend this establishment if you're looking for a local barbecue place. Read Less

We come to Cheifland once a month and always have to stop here.  Very surprisingly good little diner.  BBQ is very good and juicy.  Waitstaff is also very accommodating with a little southern charm.  Prices are low for the amount of food you get. Upon entering, we had 4 employees pass us by before speaking or seating us . It wasn't busy. That should have been a sign. There were no clean knives, salad plates, the smoked turkey sandwich that was suppose to be smoked sliced turkey was only deli meat. This is probably my go-to restaurant in Chiefland. The new remodeling which is a year or so old gives the place a fresh feel. They have a great wait staff of energetic gals and the place is clean and well managed,.. oh,.. and the food ain't bad either. Decent salad bar,.. don't care for the shredded lettuce but don't let that bother me too much,..they could enhance the place considerably by just taking the salad bar quality up one notch,.,make it more like Ruby Tuesday's. We went on the day after Christmas and were seated pretty quick. The host was very nice and friendly. We ordered chicken wings and fries, beef plate special and pork and salad bar. The wings were cold to the touch in the middle, returned them and they came back still cold and new fries. Ended up with a baked potato and salad bar instead. The waitress was very curt and set the plate down with frustration. The salad bar was fair, bake potato was good.The beef plate and pork was good but not great.When checking out the hostess informed us it had been a busy long day and was sorry for the cold wings but she ATE the ones we sent back and they were good. I don't give a 5 easily. My friend and I ate here on the way back from Largo,Fla. we had a great lunch, bought some great tomatoes from a guy right next to this BBQ and also got a portion of ribs for later.This sauce is PERFECT. Spicy and neck sweating hot...now I'm having a good day, and then there are some ribs involved. I got an old dog , my friends dog, a great old gentleman. but old Flynt is getting shorted on bones cause there was so much meat on these ribs. I found their sides to be exceptional. But, the size of ramekin was laughable. What ,is there a gosh darn rationing program on beans and slaw. Now, I don't penalize on this size issue as the product is the best. I stopped here for lunch while traveling.  I was alone, they seated me almost right away.  The booth was clean and the server brought my coffee right away.  The restaurant was nearly full as it was just before noon.  I ordered the pork plate lunch special.  It came out hot and fresh.  I was able to clean my plate with the addition of some sweet BBQ sauce.  Service was friendly and in spite of dining alone I was comfortable.  I am putting this place on my short list for stops while traveling on US27. Been going to this place even before it became Bill's, was Fat Boys. It was always good food at a great price for breakfast. Never left there hungry until now. The portions have been cut way back and of course prices have increased. So much love for Bar-B-Q Bills. I've been going here for breakfast since I was a small kid. I even have 2 of their T-shirts. It's easily the highlight of going to Chiefland, FL. This week, I was pleasantly surprised to see the results of a recent remodel. The design is fresh and they really lightened the place up. I can't say enough about the tastiness and portion of their bacon. My boyfriend, who is an excellent cook and prides himself on his breakfasts, said the Western omelet he had this week was the best breakfast he ever had out. My wife and I live in Williston and "discovered" this place about a year ago; since then we have eaten here numerous times. The service has always been good, and when we went this past Saturday late afternoon, it was good, but we both said upon leaving that it was the most "disinterested" service we'd ever had! Someone had their baby in the restaurant, and our server was waaay more interested in the baby than she was in us, and when we paid at the register, the young gal never asked how our meal was, or said thank you when we paid. The waitresses were rude, the chicken was raw, and the salad bar was disgusting. This was our first and last time to this restaurant. Worst part was when sent the chicken back, the waitress acted as if she were used it occurring and said, "Im not taking off the salad bar, you ate it." Gross gross gross. Where shall I begin? Maybe the dirty salad bar with expired-looking veggies? How about flies buzzing around above? Hey, do you like leaving with a stomach ache? Because I don't. The quality of this food was so unbelievably cheap. Everything seemed either watered down, synthetic tasting, or visually unappetizing. The inside was nothing special, kind of dirty actually, and the service was frustratingly slow. Maybe I thought this restaurant was so bad because it's just the part of Florida we're in, who knows. Very reasonably priced! Barbecue with attention to detail. This is a family restaurant that also caters to the busy Route 98 crowd. Salad bar has everything you'd want to accompany good 'que. Clean dining area, clean restrooms, and tasty barbecued chicken. We came on a Sunday which is "all you care to eat" chicken for $9.50 (with salad bar). How are you going to beat that? Read Less

Really wonderful little BBQ joint -- good service, home style food and extremely reasonable prices. We had the fried green tomatoes and pork plate lunch specials. The meals came with crispy fries, sweet cole slaw and homemade BBQ beans, plus garlic toast. The pork had a subtle smoky flavor and was sliced thinly and piled high. The iced tea was freshly brewed. There was a salad bar that looked good, but we had more than we could handle with our lunch specials. Overall, a pleasant place to stop and have a meal. I'm betting their breakfast is first rate too!
