Shelby is an outstanding colourist. She corrected a horrific colour I was given 3 days prior and made me blonde again! She made sure she got the colour she was aiming for and most importantly she made sure I was happy with the end result. I have been going to this salon for about a year now. I was informed while making my last appointment that my regular stylist moved, so I made an appointment with someone else. I live in east pompano and on this particular day there was traffic which made me exactly 23 minutes late, I did call 15 minutes prior to my appointment letting them know I was in terrible traffic in case we needed to reschedule. Upon arrival my new stylist informed me abruptly that she wouldn’t hav...e time to blow dry my hair(even though I pay $50 for a hair cut and blow dry). I felt she was a bit standoffish but I ignored it. She then gave me a quote for my hair which I felt was extremely unreasonable, as I have been going to them for some time. I am currently 9 months pregnant, so I asked that she put amonia free dye on my roots and permanent color on my ends to cover the blonde highlights I had last summer(my hair was already done this way by my old stylist and is currently one color). My hair is medium-long length and I do have a decent amount of hair, although I wouldn’t describe it as very thick, I would say it’s honestly normal. She quoted me at $170, before I tipped her to process one color, and cut and to not blow dry my hair. I have had my hair done by some amazing stylists, but that is an outrageous price. I walked out of the salon and I will never go back. My old stylist at the same salon, always charged around $125 for this type of service. I should mention they also changed from an Aveda salon to some other brand. I am very loyal to Aveda as the color sticks to my hair well. They definitely should have mentioned it when I made my appointment. I don’t want to mention the new stylists name in case she was having a bad day, but it was an awful experience. When you are paying someone a lot of money to do your hair, you should be treated with great customer service and that just wasn’t what happened. Amazing salon. Moved to FL from NYC and was looking for a salon that could compare to the ones I was used to in the upper east side. This was BETTER! The shampoo room is like a spa and the entire salon is so beautiful and so well designed. I had keratin (they call it a smoothing treatment) and a haircut done by AMY!!! My friend, Nicole Willi, highly recommends Gramercy when asked about her hair. I finally tried it last night. Chloe did my hair, and Shelby did my mom's hair, and Gramercy now has 2 new regulars! I have never had a stylist as professional as Chloe...and I've tried a lot of stylists! I am visiting and had a lot of free time so spur of the moment decided that I was going to get high lights. I called and got an appointment with Amy immediately. The receptionists were friendly and offered the most amazing cucumber and thyme infused water(I had been doing a lot of walking so this was much needed). I met Amy who then took time to look and feel my hair and work with me to find a suitable shade without causing too much damage (I still had blonde ends and layers of color elsewhere- early grays what can I do). If you are looking to get your hair colored... ASK FOR HEATHER (the blonde one)!! She is a magical wizard when it comes to color and color correction. I came into the salon purely based off reviews not knowing anyone. When I arrived, everyone greeted my as if I had been going there for the last decade. In regards to my hair, it had been boxed died at a level 2-3 twice a year since I was 12 years old. I of course wanted to go lighter. Im writing this review to help anyone looking for a true expert in blonde hair. I know how hard it is to find a stylist who can create blonde highlites which are not brassy yet the perfect pale yellow. I first came here when I stupidly used boxed dye because I'm a poor grad student and brutally messed it up. I called in a panic and they gave me an appointment with Callie the next day, who I have now been using for a year. Callie calmed me down, fixed the problem, and got my hair to the color I originally wanted. It was also right before my birthday so they gave me champagne and a hair mask! The pricing is very fair, especially compared to other Boca salons. You're always pampered with tea, coffee, etc., treated respectfully, and it is always a nice day. I have been going to Gramercy for a little under 6 months and am super happy with my hair and experience! Kristen, Kirsten, Kia and her staff have always been very kind and gracious to me. I am known for my hair and keeping it luxurious without a lot of chemicals or weave (not there's anything wrong with that).I am from the islands and have a very mixed background which makes my hair even more difficult than most to care for. My best friend referred me here as I am super particular with my stylist. Kia was AMAZING!!! She has a soft touch, great ideas about hair health, and is supportive about my style ideas as long as they are not damaging. Not to mention everyone raved about my hair looking especially radiant afterwards...As I was reading through some of the reviews I came across a few that were left yesterday. I felt compelled to write something that shed a brighter light on Gramercy as I believe they are being unfairly, improperly, and discriminately judged. I am also a minority and am dark skinned (not that it should matter, but it does). I do not take kindly to ANYONE throwing around the term "RACIST" because it suits their immediate need and possibly looking to demean another human being of caucasian ancestry. We are who we are and this is discrimination!! Unfortunately the conversation we are having as a country about race has somehow given permission to some people to think they can use this term lightly or without compunction. In my experience those who have to point out that they are NOT racist are usually a part of the problem and NOT the solution. It is not my opinion that Kristin or any of her staff (at least the ones I have dealt with ), are racist or demeaning. The truth always comes out. Many times on video. Can't wait to see if they post an apology.I have also recommended the salon to family members who are also mixed background and they were all very happy. I have been a Gramercy regular for almost a year.    When it came time to choose a hairstylist for my wedding and party; Karesten was the obvious choice.  Aveda salons may not be known for glamour, their earth friendly approach doesn't seem to connect with the glam pictures from Instagram.   But I am here to tell you, that notion is far from accurate. My contract with Gramercy included a hair trial a few weeks prior to the wedding.  This allowed me to brainstorm with Karesten on what additional hair pieces were needed and also troubleshoot hair pieces that had been purchased but were not performing properly.  Karesten went so far as to add clips to my extension weft and MAKE a hair clip from a belt I was originally going to use on the gown.  What amazing customer service! Karesten and Chelsea pulled off beautiful and detailed braids and twists for 6 women in 3 hours. Their hairstyles stayed in place all night.  My ladies looked and felt beautiful.  Karesten  and Chelsea showed up on time, prepared, and professionally dressed.   I could not have been happier about my day of service.  (Or the constant compliments revived about my hair!) This most recent time was done at Gramercy Aveda .My stylist was Heather Gebis and she was very thorough with providing the options with the color and the style, and pros and cons of each. I wanted to change a little from my natural color and wanted the color to stand out when I was done. I ended up doing balayage and my hair came out amazing!! I am sooooooooo happy with my hair and I've only just discovered this salon a few months ago! First of all they are open seven days, which is a blessing for me, considering I work so many hours. Kia is my hair stylist and she does it all! Color, cut, blow dry, my eyebrows and just recently suggested I get the botanical treatment. What a difference it made in my hair! I really love her.
