I came here because this place was right near my new office. I came in for a gel mani and regular pedi. The pedi was great. They kind of rushed through both. However, after my mani, I began to notice that my nail was literally crumbling and falling apart. Once I took the gel off, I noted that I had a crack in two of my nails that went up the entire nail and a "lump" on my thumb nail. After speaking with my regular technician, I was instructed that I had a bacterial infection of my nail bed. It took me 3 months for my nails to grow back in correctly (I still have the lump on my thumb). Nice place and ambiance, but I'm thinking that the rush job led me to get my mani from tools that weren't clean. Sad. I could've become a regular customer. Read Less

The salon is nice, clean, and plays pleasant music in the background - not too loud. I was greeted and seated right away. And even offered a drink (water, tea, wine, bubbly) - a lovely touch! The reason for three stars is that my manicurist was brusque and yanked my hands. Also, I got the SNS manicure that was advertised. I asked when I was told I was done why there was no work on my cuticles and no hand massage (as stated in the brochure). I was then informed that to have that also was another $15 dollars, and I should have stated that I wanted it first. I expressed my surprise and they offered to provide the service for $10 (happily with another technician). I had already paid $47 for an SNS "manicure," which in my view was an incomplete service without any attention to cuticles or hand softening. I got a Basic Pedicure, a Gel Manicure and eyebrow threading done. The service is okay - nothing exceptional. The pedicure was completed in less than 15 mins which I thought was a little too fast. My technician wasn't the most friendly either. While I was getting my manicure done she snapped at me a couple of times to change the position of my hand instead of asking me politely. The spa is beautiful and clean. Nail polish variety is great, the complimentary beverages an add-on and the comfy lazy boy chairs amazing. But the actual pedicure wasn't great. A gem in the busy downtown area! This place is very relaxing with a wonderful staff. It is very clean and inviting. The large space allows for little to no wait time for walk-ins. I've had Jenny twice now and she is so sweet. She is very detail-oriented, ensuring you are happy with your nails during each step of the treatment. I had never had gel nails prior to coming to Persimmon and she's done an excellent job both times. She was very accommodating during my mani and pedis . I always opt for simpler treatments/colors and she is not pushy about upselling the experience or making you choose a color you aren't sold on. I would highly recommend Jenny for a great experience! I frequently get SNS nails at this salon and their service and quality is unmatched! I've tried other nail salons for comparison, and Persimmon's SNS nails always last the longest for me. It almost never chips and their work is immaculate. The shop is clean and the staff is so friendly. I went here to get my nails done thanks to a recommendation from a friend. The spa was big and clean, and they could take me immediately as a walk in - although I went on the weekend when most of their customer base comes during the week. On the weekend however, they have a discount for gel manicures and pedicures! I would rate this place 4.5 stars. I highly recommend this salon due to the friendliness of the staff, skill set of MY technician (DeeDee) and convenience of this location. It's just 1 block from the White House and across the street from the McPherson Square metro (blue line). My nail technician was DeeDee, who is also the salon manager. She was friendly, skilled and easy to talk to. She informed me that she's been a technician for 25 years and you could tell. She's passionate about her job and love what she does. The service provided was impeccable. I felt like I got what I paid for. I'm the type of customer that points out flaws. DeeDee corrected the flaws right away (and there weren't many- I'm just picky). The ambience wasn't like your typical nail shop with pictures of people's hands on the wall. There were cute nail quotes and a large tv displaying advertisements. They offered me tea, water and wine. I declined because I had to go back to work. There was even smooth jazz in the background to set a tranquil mood. The only drawback of this place is the pricing. I paid $45 for acrylic nails. I know that if i crossed over to the Virginia line, it would be $35. However, it's in the city and today i paid for convenience. Two things to note:1. They prefer you pay in cash for your tip.2. Watch out for the trends. A few years ago, it was all about the gel set. Now it's the SNS dipping powder. She told me all the benefits of this new technique and went on for about 5 minutes. This is a good salon with nice service. I had a gel shellac manicure. I wish it could have lasted a up to a full two weeks, but it did last for a week (barely).Service is great, you're offered champagne, and the atmosphere is very friendly. They carry favorites like OPI and Essie, of course.My only complaint is that, for some reason even though I had already chosen OPI Bubble Bath as my shade, my manicurist wanted to "try" a different, darker colour on me. She didn't explain why, but I suspect she misguidedly thought that, being brown, I couldn't possibly want nude/pink nails and that some taupe, khaki like shade would "match my skin more." Fail. When the customer knows what she wants, respect that. I had to repeatedly tell her no and insist on what I wanted --at least 6 times--she left it alone.I will go back for further gels, though. This was quite possibly the worst mani/pedi experience I have had in my 40 years of life. I came here for the first time after my coworker told me she had a pretty good experience. I'm preparing for an international holiday adventure and also wanted to treat myself on my last day of a ten year stint at my job. Wind down with a little bubbly and be pampered. I work directly across the street. I usually go to another spa a few blocks over. So sorry for cheating on them. I walk in and see they are fairly busy and I think I should have made an appointment on the last work day before a holiday. However,  I'm pleasantly surprised when I am seated at a pedi bowl pretty quickly to soak.  Water is cool. I ask the manicurist who had filled the run up to please warm it up a bit. She did something but the temperature didn't change. Alrighty then. As I'm sitting there waiting and soaking a number of people come in to an already packed shop. I was finally asked what I wanted to drink. I said champagne. This same woman brought me a mimosas. Alrighty then. Finally she gets started on my feet and asks me my colors on the palette wheel. I was getting a gel mani and a regular pedi with Perfect Match (same color, this is important) She brings them back And proceeds to speed through my pedi to the point that she was throwing the tools down in between. NOT alrighty then. I asked her to slow down. She didn't. I asked to speak to the manager (a woman-- believe they have a male and female manager) and explained while I knew they were busy, she was not about to rush my $70 mani/pedi. She swapped in another woman who did my pedi at normal speed and did an alright job.Then we move over to my mani. I'm seated next to the manicurist that I complained about earlier. Same one that did my toes starts my manicure. Her filing and shaping is awful. I inhale but remain calm. And then she starts talking to the manicurist I complained about and then starts snipping away hard at my cuticle, drawing blood. By this time, I'm highly annoyed. She puts alcohol on it and apologizes. She continues on with my nails, putting the second coat of gel on and I'm noticing something. It's not the same color as my toes. So I stop her right there and then the same manager comes over. I show her the issue. Instead of fixing the problem, the manager proceeds to try to paint over the old color and asks me if that will work. She is more concerned with getting me out the door and another $100 in that seat. At this point, she is turning people away. I am fit to be tied by this point but remain amazingly calm. I tell her absolutely not and to take this wrong color off and put the color I requested on. She proceeds to take care of me herself and you can see the result. There was no real apology or offer of a discount. I guess my business and the ton of business I'm going to steer away from there with this review and through word of mouth of my coworkers didn't matter. At the register, I was rudely asked for the money and sent on my way. No thank you for coming or any of the niceties you would expect from a new business. At no point did I raise my voice. I surprised myself with how calm I remained because this was indeed not the way I wanted to kick off my celebration. And my nails look amateur at best. Steer clear. Read Less

This is my 3 or 4th time at Persimmon Nail salon.  The staff is always friendly and the service is great. I normally get a full set/fill in by Leo who I believe may be the owner. He does my Acrylic very thin and natural looking the way I like it. I've had my feet done by other salon members and they did a great job. The staff is very patient - I brought my elderly grandmother in for a pedicure and they were very patient and kind to her.  The managers are very nice and accommodating!Added plus - they have wine! I love this salon  they play great music, (R&B, sade, toni braxton & more) it's very clean, highly organized and well designed! The basic pedicure is great enough with regular polish and with acrylic the nail tech really takes his time and pays attention to detail during shaping and polishing! I've been to a few salons in DC and after returning to Persimmon for a second time I can say that this is my spa! My only complaint is the price, because in Philadelphia the prices are a bit lower. I was very excited to visit the nail spa that set up shop directly across the street from my job. I tried to give the decor the benefit of the doubt because it was new, but after two visits I realize the actual decor must be the nail polish set up. Therr is absolutely no art, no design, barely any real furniture beyond where patrons sit to get service.  No attempt to even hide the industrial ceiling. It's all very industrial looking. The staff is decent. Not rude, but not friendly. They are fast. This isnt really a plus for me. Although I don't feel rushed but they will do both hands and feet at the same time which mostly feels awkward.The prices are average/high. Seems like I may get a better deal on the weekend. This nail salon opened about a month ago. The place is very clean. I made an appointment for 10:30 a.m. on a Friday morning.  It wasn't very busy but I always prefer to have an appointment than wait. I had a regular mani and pedi. My technician did a good job. The staff was friendly. They have OPI and Essie nail polish and other brands. If in D.C. again I would go back to this salon. This is honestly the best salon I've found in DC! Incredibly clean, tons of chairs, polishes are in color order (speaks to my OCD) and service is wonderful. My pedicure with Vee was thorough, neat and relaxing. My SNS with Dee Dee was PERFECT - not too thick, close enough to cuticles and exactly the shape and length I wanted. As someone who gets SNS+pedi every other week, the service generally takes 2.5 hours at other salons, but Dee Dee had me out in an hour and a half. Pretty solid new nail salon! They're doing 20% off right now since it's so new. I got a gel manicure and Persimmon pedicure. Vee did both. She did a great job on my feet - my toes look awesome and she took her time. The spa is really clean and they use a liner in the foot bath which keeps everything even cleaner. My gel manicure is alright - not the best I've had, but not terrible. The Persimmon Nail Spa is within walking distance of the metro and is surrounded by different restaurants, office buildings, and shops. The interior is bright, clean, minimalistic, and spacious with good ventilation. There is also a waiting area available. The staff is attentive and a selection of beverages (water, soda, tea, champagne, mimosa, etc.) is offered upon arrival. The nail salon has a large color selection (both regular and gel) with the expecte brands (Essie, OPI, etc.). There are a lot more pedicure chairs than one would typically see in a nail salon; the same goes for manicure stations. The manicurist did an excellent job on my nails; the shaping was exactly what I wanted and the paint work was smooth. Prices are reasonable for the services provided as well. Great brand new salon in a very convenient location for downtown DC-ers. Big open space with lots of light, great A/C, new and clean furnishings, and a good setup. Tons of polish colors, typically have matching sets of gel / normal nail polish so you can mix/match. Very strong focus on providing high quality service, including free wine/ champagne/ water etc. Pricing is very fair and can be found on their website. Everything is 20% off for a few more days until the end of July for their grand opening.My first time in I had a pedicure and massage with Linda, and both were amazing. Her massages are as good as any you'd receive in a top quality day spa - I'd definitely recommended opting for the extra 10 minute neck/shoulders massage for $15 while nails are drying, or the same thing for an extra foot massage during pedicure. I had such a great experience I went back two days later to get a gel manicure, this time with Vi, who was also wonderful and provided awesome service. I am visiting the D.C. area in desperate need of a gel fill mani and gel pedi.  I am quite particular about my health and beauty services therefore I take my time in choosing a new location.  I spotted Persimmon Nail Spa and could see that they had just opened with a nice grand opening discount incentive. I had a good feeling about this place and I was not disappointed.  Leo, I believe the owner, answered the phone and gave me an appointment at the time I was needing.  He was very warm and polite.  When I arrived a couple of hours later, I was greeted by name and with was welcomed with enthusiasm.  I loved the inside of this establishment.  It was clean and bright and different than most nail salons.  Simple yet stated elegance and only the best equipment and beautiful pedicure massage chairs.  Vi was my pedi technician and she was awesome and personable.  She did a great job, was patient and gave a great strong massage.  Leo took over and made sure that I was completely happy with my fill and gel mani.  I told him that I didn't really like how thin my acrylic nails were and he gladly gave me the width I was looking for as he applied the acrylic fill.  Yippee.   I am more than pleased with the outcome.  What I would like to mention more than anything is how personable Leo and his staff are.  Leo has a great personality and brings his smile to work with him every morning.  He is one of those men who believes that waking up with a good attitude is not a choice... it is a way of life, a choice he makes everyday because its works.   I rarely take the time to write reviews but Persimmon Nail Spa was so exceptional that I had to help spread the word.  Don't walk.... run to Persimmon for your nail care, eye lash extensions and massage.  Only the best of wishes for success and good fortune, Leo and staff!See you the next time I am in D.C.Lori Read Less

Last evening, Le provided me with a phenomenal mani and pedi to match her 11 years of experience! Her work is the best I've ever had! The salon is upscale and clean,  everyone is hospitable and the selection of nail polish is endless.
