I had the best experience with Kay. I have been floating from stylist to stylist in DC, waiting for someone to give me the same elegant, classic bob I had been getting in New York.  For two years, I had "meh" and "ick" experiences, even at some of DC's most hoity-toity salons. Kay got my style immediately and gave me one of the best cuts I have ever had. It looks good with or without a blow out. I love Kate, she is the sweetest person, but this review is in reference to services both my husband and I received recently. First issue is that we came in for my husband as he wanted to get gray/ white hair, he instead got bright yellow hair that would not change to either gray or white, he actually had to make an appointment somewhere else to get it corrected, which he finally did today. As for myself, I have been going to the salon for a while now and so far things were great, but this last time I went to the salon I actually wanted my hair dark as I did not want my hair light anymore, hair came out great but now four weeks later my hair in back to the original color and when I spoke to Kate she tells me that color washes off and the color doesn't last forever, but what makes me angry is that she didn't tell me that before, if i had known this, I wouldn't have paid for color to wash away and just keep my blonde/caramel color thAt I had before. Very disappointed, I don't think I have to pay another $45 for a glaze that is going to wash out again. People should be notified before they get services that color will was out in less than 4 weeks. I feel ripped off and cheated. I don't think that after $300 my hair should look yellow/orange. I'm been a regular at Luigi's for several years now and there are several things that keeps me loyal: 1. The customer service is excellent. From the receptionists, shampoo, stylist, and owners. They really go out of their way to ensure you feel important and that your expectations are met. 2. The owner makes an effort to speak with you and get to know you. It's a busy salon with lots of clients. This personal touch goes a long way with me. I've experienced other high end salons who only recognized you based on your status and influence and that annoyed the hell out of me. 3. Tasha Gaymon! I've been with Tasha for more than 10 years because she's the best colorist and stylist I've seen. I'm African American and Tasha helped me to stop relaxing my hair with chemicals and though my hair is colored (blonde) it's strong, healthy, and grows like weeds. Disclaimer: I am writing this review on behalf of a friend.I have a TON of experience with blowouts from salons across DC and I can happily recommend KAY from Luigi Parasmo. She did a phenomenal job. Ladies, I have the thickest, longest, and curliest amount of hair that most highly experience stylists have ever seen. That is why I am critical with my hair salon experiences. Kay used spent about 3 hours blow-drying my hair (average 3.5hrs). She's not slow, I just have THAT much hair. Here is a list of things she did for me that I really appreciated. 1. THOROUGH wash and conditioning- anyone with thick hair knows this is 2. Used smaller round brushes to get at the hairline. 3. Used larger round brushes to give me glamorous waves.  4. Used a lot of TENSION to straiten my thick, curly hair. The pulling is Not a necessity to maintain the blowout for a decent amount of time. 5. Did NOT rely on hot tools except for when I requested that she go over painful, I actually enjoy the feeling of knowing that my hair is straightening. my hairline with a flat iron a little bit so that it stays nice and flat. Moreover, Kay as well as the front desk staff did not make me feel like I was an inconvenience at their salon. That's happened a lot and I understand that my hair is difficult but I really appreciate the professionalism and care in making sure I didn't have to feel that way by coming to them. This was my first visit to the Luigi Parasmo Salon & Spa and it was absolutely amazing! My mother and I decided to spoil our selves for a special Mother's Day and it was divine! We both had facials with Nadia and my mother and I both commented they were the best facial we ever had! Nadia took the time to explain treatments as needed, but still kept a soothing, calming, and ultra relaxing atmosphere throughout the entire experience. My face has stayed soft and moisturized for three days after! We both had equally amazing massages with Elena. I had some exercise strains and she made sure to massage those knots away. My mother had a hot stone massage and she said she has never been so relaxed! We both ended the day with a shampoo and blow-dry so we looked extra nice for the Mother's Day dinner planned a few hours later. The entire experience was lovely and very relaxing. An incredible salon that has the look and feel of Georgetown while making the clients feel comfortable and relaxed! My hair was cut by Ken and what a great cut it is! While Ken and I go back many years, he always makes me feel welcome and asks what type of cut and style I want. He listens and offers guidance and advice.
