After I found Phoebe several years ago I have followed her to whichever salon she went to. She is very detailed, knows how to make them look natural and very reasonably priced. This place has been taken over and has new ownership by Phoebe and her husband Tai. I have followed Phoebe from salon to salon for many years and I'm so happy she finally got a salon of her own. I'm extremely particular about having my nails and pedicures done and have tried numerous places and people.  After finding Phoebe I decided that was it! She's very detailed, they look natural, she's quick and very reasonably priced. Anyone I've taken there says the same thing. The other staff she's brought with her are all equally as conscientious as she is, I've tried them all when she's been too busy. With all the competition in the area, this place stands out and definitely worth giving them a try.Her business is starting to build up. I have been going to phoebe for many many years!!! She took over #1 nails and I followed her that's how amazing she is! I told her anywhere she goes I will follow her! So far phoebe has been doing my nails and all the others that work there are just as great as her! #1 Nails has been under new management for about 2 months! The salon has been remodeled and updated with an inviting decor and friendly staff. I was so happy when I walked into #1 Nails and became reacquainted with Phoebe!! In my opinion no one can do nails as well as she does. When I get my gel fill, polish, and nail design, I enjoy my appointment and I am always very pleased with the results. i ONLY came in here because my daughter was in a class in the same shopping center but i'd never come back. just kind of dirty, barely any magazines, and obnoxiously loud chinese television (on someone's phone!) playing. the pedicure was pretty rough, and whenever she finished with a tool she threw in in the water where my feet were to soak. kind of gross feeling all this stuff swirling around my feet. The worse manicure in my life! The lady with the glasses who did my nails was very rude and aggressive,she did my nails just to be done not the way I wanted. Her nails looked disgusting as well. Horrible place,never go back again! Read Less

When I walked in and saw there were no customers, even though it was the lunch hour, I should have turned right back around. The pedicure itself was just okay.  I'm giving the place two stars mostly on the basis that it felt like the whole place had a thin layer of slime, and the ambiance was non-existent. HORRIBLE I went for a manicure and after telling the woman three times that I did not want a Gel manicure because it ruins my nails she finally said ok.  My French manicure was messy looking, my nails were still rough like she forgot to file them after she cut them and only used a top coat and the white (very chunky looking) tips.  Usually they will put a light pink or cream color on.  I had to go to CVS and get a nail file and a light color to put on top.  I went in on a Friday afternoon and they were already chipped by Saturday.  The place was also dingy looking and not very clean.  I will never go back. Horrible.  Do not go here. The pedicure took forever.  I'm not sure the dude who did my pedi was even 18, let alone certified to do nails!  I had them put on an acrylic nail on one of my big toes because I'd broken it by accident and it looked ridiculous lol. It took THREE of them to figure out how to do this AND they cut me twice.  Charged me $28 and looked at me sideways when I gave a $4 tip -- I would've given nothing but I'm in the beauty industry myself and I know how that feels!  It was dirty too.  I'm talking gnats everywhere and old moldy food near the bathroom.  Unsterile instruments used over and over again.  For real just don't go. The salon was very tiny and I actually had the woman mentioned in the earlier review do my complete set and I was not happy. She was very slow and although I described the nail style I was looking for she kept telling me her way would be better.   Her style was a little on the trashy side, large, think, "jersey shore" style nails and I had to keep repeating what I wanted. I had a currently damaged nail, so she only did 9 nails and although she tried to push gel on me 3 times and I said no, she eventually backed off. It took me a VERY long time to find a decent nail salon in CT, and this is it.  I moved here from Florida (where inexpensive, amazing nail salons are a dime a dozen) and probably visited 30 different places before finding Tina at Number One Nails.   I've been coming here for years now and she knows exactly what I want and does an amazing job.  Never have a problem getting an appointment either.
