I went to Thulan Nail after seeing the great rating it got on yelp/google, however, I was sadly disappointed. They did take me as a walk in which was great. However, because I just moved to the area, the pricing was a little steep compared to what I was used to and when I said that to the woman she seemed to be mad at me and justified the price (which I totally get, don't get me wrong). She told me the price included the manicure along with the gel polish I was looking for however, she didn't give me a manicure. She took off my polish and barely filed down and smoothed my nails before beginning to paint. It wasn't until I asked about the manicure she went back and gave me one. Not only that but the gel polish (which usually I have on for a solid 3 weeks) came of in just 5 days!!!! The polish was very lumpy and there were bumps throughout the whole thing which is probably why it came off so fast. The atmosphere was nice and they were very accommodating. This is a hidden gem right next to Parkville. The owner is really warm, friendly and almost makes it a personal agenda for you to have a good experience. I found this place purely by accident and I am glad I did. I got a french manicure and pedicure (my boyfriend accompanied me for the pedicure). They are very hygienic and use gloves and a separate nail kit for every customer. It is owned by an Asian lady but unlike the usual, the staff do not converse among themselves (just based of experience and nothing personal/racial). The atmosphere is relaxed and makes you forget all the drudgery of a work day. The best part is, that they serve mango/apple infused water and/or a glass of wine. You can also bring your own and they will serve it in their glasses for you. Me and my boyfriend had an AMAZING date here, replete with truffles, wine and a great relaxing pedicure (he got sparkly nail paint just for funzies by the way and I think its absolutely adorable). Excellent top quality nail salon with wonderful friendly staff who do a great job; I enjoy getting different shellac nail designs and the staff do nice job. Great local place with excellent customer service. I've been going here for years and I keep going back. Shellac lasts for a full week and nails stay healthy. Pedicures last a while and are done well. This salon is clean and nicely designed. They are true artists working here and it's relaxing to go in, have a hot tea and relax; while knowing you will leave happy and have nice nails and toes! Read Less

I'm in town for the weekend, and based on the company's 4 + stars, I decided to get a mani pedi. First, the ambiance and attention to the customer are great. I think the salon means well. However, if you have one nail tech that does a good job and the rest are mediocre (at best) you don't deserve 4 + stars. Second, the lady that did my pedicure kept trying to use the drill to cut my cuticles. Why??? And if I told you no the first time, why would you keep asking me?? I'm not a nail tech, but I know that you don't cut cuticles with a nail drill. Third, I guess because the tech was used to cutting cuticles with a nail drill she had no idea how to actually cut my cuticles with the cuticle cutter. As a matter of fact, she tried to cut my cuticles at the end of my pedicure, when they were dry and hard to manipulate. When I asked her to remove the dead skin from my cuticle, she got an attitude . . . She got an attitude when I asked her to actually do what I paid her to do. Who does that??? Needles to say, I walked out after my pedi. I couldn't stand to let this woman screw up my manicure. The owner tried to course correct, but it was too late. Next time, just tell your employees to have better attitudes and to provide customers with the service they pay for. I wouldn't return for round two. And if this is what 4+ stars for a nail salon in Hartford, CT looks like, I'm glad I'm just visiting. Read Less

The service here is remarkable and the work is beautiful, it's just a bonus that it's all healthy for my nails. I brought my bridesmaids here to get mani-pedis before my wedding and we had an awesome time and received the royal treatment. Everyone had wonderful customer service. Great place. Finding a consistent quality nail salon can be tricky but I've been going to Thulan Nail Retreat for a few years now with good luck. It's small, well taken care of, with friendly staff who consistently do a good job. The pedicures are especially nice with the added hot stone and paraffin heel treatment. Probably a little more pricey than other places but well worth the money. They even offer a glass of wine while you pamper yourself! Read Less

I have never enjoyed going to a nail salon more than this!  This is the best service and most serene atmosphere I have ever seen!  You can walk in but preferably you should make an appointment, due to their popularity.  I have never been to a real nail RETREAT!  This place is friendly, super clean, and they take extra special care to pay particular attention to the details, which is #1 in my book.  Would you like a complimentary glass of wine?  Extra steps are taken for the perfect Pedicure without you feeling rushed.  I felt so pampered and the owner is gentle and professional in her demeanor.  Everyone is relaxed and happy while waiting and receiving their preferred treatments.  It was so marvelous I even brought my friend and got a free polish touch up!!!  So impressed with the service in every way!  I'll be back and spreading the word. I have tried them twice, after reading the very good reviews but unfortunately was not at all impressed ! The place is alright and then staff are friendly enough, and it's true that you get a good massage but the problem is the main thing still is getting your nail done properly which they really bad at ! I do a better job at home than them ! Some photos to show you what I mean ! Won't be going back ever again !They didn't even bother have the length of nails the same !!! I have gone to this place to do manicure and pedicure, after a friend's recommendation. This was the sloppiest manicure/pedicure combined treatment I had in my life. Horrible! Asked for sns nails which suppose to feel natural and smooth. Nails not even. Some Feel thin. Other feel thick. Can see white fake nail lines. She did it too fast like she was in hurry. I came to Thulan today after reading all of the glowing reviews and was hoping for a exceptionally amazing nail experience. While some aspects were great, others were so-so. The good:1. my nails looks great. They really do2. The salon was super clean3. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, very spa like as many other reviewers have mentioned4. I came without an appointment but was happily greeted and accommodated 5. Large polish selection, safer options, high end (Chanel) polish The so-so:1. They really tried to get me to select a gel or shellac polish. She kept showing me gel colors after I stated twice I just wanted regular. I'm not much for maintenance and don't have time to soak off gel. The up-sell heat was rough!2. A little painful with the cuticle pushback/cut3. The manicure was very quick, except for the fan dry which took 10 minutes. For $18 there were no bells and whistles. At my regular salon I pay $13 and get a nice arm massage and neck/shoulder massage at the end. They take a lot more time at other salons I've been to4. Really nice experience. Amidst the massive sea of salons and spas on park rd the vibe here is very nice. Pretty pricey but the atmosphere is very chill no loud chatter. Great chairs, and TONS of nail color choices and shellac colors. They have Zoya which I prefer-nontoxic. The stones during the pedicure are a nice touch and it's very clean. I wouldn't be able to afford it all the time but definitely as a treat now and then. First pedicure of the season I'm ready for sandals now! Phew! Read Less

I used a Groupon this morning for a T Spa pedicure and shellac gel manicure. I loved this salon so much I scheduled a second appointment right after mine was over! Lani is so friendly and I felt relaxed and comfortable the whole time. She cares so much about her clients and always has their best interest in mind.
