I walked in to get pedi and mani and I was told they were to busy they had a party going on, as I see 4 of the workers just sitting down on one side of the building and 2 other workers on the side of me as you walk in the door. I love Nail Spa and the continuous changes and additions they implement to the treatments. Always go for the option of the Lavender pedicure with a gel manicure; the pedicure is delightful and relaxing with the smell of lavender and a nice and thorough leg massage, and the gel manicure doesn't chip. I live in Boston, and at least once a month I make my way down to Waterford just for my treat here because no place in Boston treats me this well. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Some changes in management/ownership have been made recently and my last 2 visits have been disappointing.  First of all they have changed the prices.  Not for the better. Secondly,  they did not bother to take care of my cuticles so it does not look good. Also the plastic Baggie inside the tub feels disgusting on your feet.    Are they putting a clear bag inside to get out of cleaning the tubs?   Definitely the quality has suffered. I've been coming here for years and they've recently made some changes to their menu and practices.  I used to frequent this salon and drive a few towns over to get here because I felt they went the extra mile in making it a relaxing experience and now it just seems rushed unless you get a spa+ pedicure.  I suppose there is something to consistency and it seems like they have a tight regime for how they have to approach things, but my pedicure took 20 or so minutes and it wasn't that busy.  The leg massage was light as a feather and the back massage when you go to the drying station lasted 60 seconds.  All of this seems like nothing to complain about but when you were familiar with how a basic pedicure was more of a pampering, it's hard to look passed that.  Additionally, while they do a great job painting my toes, they do it so fast and it takes FOREVER to dry because they do 4 coats of lacquer (base, two color, top) in quick succession.  I'm not saying I'll never go there again, I just might not go out of my way as I had before. I've come to this salon regularly since I was in high school and I'm not exactly sure why I've come back all of these years. I guess probably the hot stone massage and paraffin wax. Well this past weekend was the last straw. I had bought my mom and sister gift certificates there for Christmas and we used them. God forbid you pay with a gift certificate and tip before the manicure so it doesn't smudge. Once they saw the gift certificates they treated us like complete sh*t. We got a mani pedi combo and didn't even get the massage while our manis dried. Not a hot stone was seen in our vicinity but literally everyone else had their massages. They did a piss poor job on the polish and just like everyone else said they don't soak your cuticles and they come out ragged. My mom had to have the polish on her mani completed taken off and redone and had to have like 4 toes fixed. They were so rude to her and told her the nails weren't like that before and she must have smudged them herself. I'm just so disappointed and wish I could take my tip back and be reimbursed for the gift certificates. I will never return to this awful salon and everyone should boycott them until they're out of business. Read Less

Terrible!I was in town visiting my boyfriend, needed a pedi and thought why not go down the street to this place with all of the great yelp reviews...They destroyed my cuticles, and did a slap job on my toes. I had to leave with only two nails done....a DISASTER. It looks nice inside, and everyone seems friendly BUT, BUYER BEWARE, looks can be deceiving! Read Less

Pedicure was the worst I have ever received it had VERY noticeable bubbles, uneven polish layered on, the clear coat is covered my entire toe nail. This place used to be decent. He sped through. Waste of 40 dollars. Read Less

I've gone to the Nail Spa at different locations, feel the East Lyme branch is usually better. It's great with the massage and wax. I believe it was one of the owners that did my manicure in Waterford. She was very rushed and left my old color around the edges. When I asked her to remove it she just said it would come off eventually. I had been going to the Nail Spas for many years and was very disappointed in the quality of work I received , I will never go back. Read Less

This is my favorite nail salon so far. It's always clean and the techs are professional. My nails come out as close to perfect every time and it's so relaxing to be pampered. There may be some big, high volume salons out there but they don't give the personalized attention and detail that this one does. I was there today and was very impressed!  It's really big there, and they took me right away. I had the most amazing mani pedi....with paraffin treatment on hands and feet! Absolute WORST experience I have EVER had at a nail salon, and I've been to many of them around the United States! I was visiting a friend here and we went to get a pedicure and full set. First off, they told me they didn't have acrylics, fine because she assured me they had something very much like it. Not telling me it was going to be 65$ just for my fingernails!! Until she was done, and had done an absolutely TERRIBLE job! I asked her over and over again to do it differently and said this was the best way for my nails. BS she just wanted to be done! I ended up with a 97$ bill. Nails and pedicure look like absolute crap! I even asked for refund and have them taken off and management was so incredibly rude I couldn't believe it! When I did an initial Yelp search for pedicure near Niantic, CT. I was wary of what four stars constituted for a place called Nail Spa II located in a small town strip-mall. I made an appointment anyway for a standard pedicure and was hugely impressed the moment I walked through the door.Large, clean, nicely decorated, full of customers laughing and talking, classical music playing quietly through the speakers, no acrylic nail odor. The pedicure as others have mentioned is a complete deal- $32 gets you a foot soak, exfoliating scrub, paraffin dip, foot and leg rub, nail coat, and then a hot stone shoulder rub while you wait for the polish to dry. Plus, a massage chair while you're having your toes attended to!The only reason it doesn't receive five stars is because the color coat job was a little slapdash and they didn't trim my cuticles, which I think is pretty standard. I hadn't had a pedicure in months and my feet were a mess after winter. I got an amazing pedicure for $30 including paraffin wax, hot rock massage, full exfoliation, massage, etc. Very nice place, huge amount of chairs and attentive staff. Great services for the price. This place is so wonderful. Every time I come I am blown away by the people working here. The people really work hard and do their very best to give you the best experience, to a degree that I have not seen in any other nail salon. During a pedicure, the people working their give such nice, long leg and foot massages, and they even give you a back massage while your nails dry! They do not skimp on the service here. Best manicure EVER! I went here based on a recommendation from the bartender at the hotel bar where I was staying and she was right on when she said it's a great place.For $13 you get scrubby hand cream, parraffin wax, hot stone massage, hand/arm massage, plus the standard nail and cuticle care. They even have a special cleaning solution for wedding rings! Maybe that's standard but i had never seen this before. After reading all of the reviews from this site I decided to give it a try.  Now I originally come from RI and finding a good nail place is difficult to say the least.  I went into Nail Spa II and was taken within a minute or so.  The place is immaculate!  Very nice and extremely clean they do not do acrylic nails at this spa.  All of the staff have aprons and shirts on that say "Nail Spa II" which is a surprise.Let me tell you, this pedicure was FANTASTIC!  I have never ever been to a place that does all of the little extras this spa does (parafin wax dip, hotstone massage, extra exfoliation, foot masks, regular massage, callus softener treatment etc...  I got the spa pedicure, which has everything!  I figured I might as well go all out so I'm not sure what the difference is between the regular and the spa.  The reviews were right about the extras! My pedicure was about an hour and a half long and when I was sitting at the dryer I got a  hot stone rubbed on my back then a back massage!  That was just fantastic!The only reason why I am giving this spa 4 stars is because the pedicure costs me $50 and I noticed after I had paid that a regular mani/pedi was $42.  I am going to call tomorrow and ask.  I know that businesses have to make money but I would have liked it if it had been brought to my attention.  I will DEFINITELY go back! Incredible pedicures! Easily one of the best pedicures I've ever had - they soak, exfoliate, paraffin and massage your toes and leg with just the base pedicure for *I think* $30. I highly recommend paying the additional $10 to have your heels softened and receive additional exfoliation and massage therapies. The $30 pedi takes about 30 to 45 minutes and the $40 one can last past an hour. The hot rock shoulder rub while your tootsies dry truly completes the spa -like experience. The staff is friendly and considerate. The only reason why this is a 4 star review vs. a 5 star is because their manicures (while good) aren't of the same quality as the pedicure. They don't soak your hands prior to the cuticle clean-up. I can say as I look at my nails 2 days later it doesn't leave the cleanest look. Otherwise, the mani is very standard to what you would receive at other nail salons. For me, I'll stick with the pedi here - it is definitely worth the time and money. So insanely relaxing! I love this place! (I'll tell you why I gave only 4 stars in the review.)  All the extras that everyone mentioned definitely made the visit much more pleasant.  I was there for about an hr and a half which was a good thing for me because I had a lot of time to kill.  The paraffin wax, massage during the pedicure and the manicure and hot towel wraps on my hands/feets were a bonus!  The place is very clean and nicely decorate.  Not a hole-in-the-wall by any means.I took off a star because they don't soak your hands.  It hurt a little to push the cuticles back and trim them.  I didn't bleed or anything but the presoak helps with that. Sometimes generic business names come as an omen of mediocrity. Chances are that "Good Food" doesn't have the best Chinese food on the block or "Supreme Pizza" won't knock your socks off. You might therefore assume that "Nail Spa II" is just your run-of-the-mill, hole-in-the-wall nail salon. However, if you did, you would be dead wrong.Mahri and I arrived at Nail Spa II completely by chance (thanks for once to bad GPS directions). Tucked in the corner of a blase strip mall, it's not the sort of business that would attract your attention from the road. We found that what lies within, however, is a glimpse of heaven.What is so great about this place? The extras. When you get either a manicure or a pedicure, they fill in the "dead time" (i.e. when you are waiting for the paraffin wax to set or your nails to dry) with a shoulder and back massage. I have been to several spas for massage in the past, but have never experienced a massage quite so intensely relaxing...and all while sitting upright in a chair! Halfway through the experience we started to wonder whether we had signed up for the $80 spa mani/pedi, but were delighted to find that the massage was part of the standard procedure (ringing in just over $40).In addition, the place is clean, the music relaxing, and our nails look great!
