There are a couple options for nail salons in the Uconn area but Royal Nails is where I tell all my friends to go. No other salon that I have ever been to takes the time to give you a back rub, do the hot wax and hand/foot rub with any basic service. I went to get silk nails and the guy told me to get gel instead because the price is not much of a difference, so I said sure. I probably should have asked how much because in the end I was given a bill for $105 (with tip) vs I was only expecting to spend $65. While it's not the cheapest place, $30 for a gel manicure, the attention to detail and perks included are top notch. Also, definitely don't come here if you are in a rush because the manicurists take their time, which is NOT a bad thing! My manicurist took the time to tell me that the polish I picked out was see through and encouraged me to pick out another color to use as a base at no extra charge. The gel manicure came with a paraffin wax treatment for my hands and a mini neck/back massage. With no appointment, at 4:45pm on a Thursday, I was seated immediately and was finished in an hour. Just waited 47 minutes for the start of my 2pm appt. They ignored our party of 4 for 15 minutes before having us sit in the pedicure chair for 30+ minutes until the water ran cold. Don't go here if you are in a rush. They do a really good job but they take their time. Clean & polite. I like to relax when I get my nails and feet done so I prefer to not be rushed. I keep telling myself that I can't expect very much because it was just a $15 manicure but... I was a walk in on a Saturday and when I got there they were pretty busy. I had to wait about 15 minutes but I was in no hurry so I didn't mind. I was surprised by the amount of kids that were there. I was really expecting a relaxing manicure appointment but there were kids running around everywhere... They got me in and did my nails in a hurry to the point where they had two different people doing my nails. I didn't know who to tip and I definitely wasn't going to tip more than once because I never asked for more than one person to do my nails.. It was all going great until they rushed me over to the drying table. My nails had rubbed against the edge of the narrow drying table while I was putting my hands in.I pointed out to the person before they left me that my nail polish was now all messed up. He kind of just acknowledged it but then did say anything else to me and theThen another person proceeded to come over and take a look at my nails and then fix them but she only fixed one and then took a look at the rest and didn't fix the other two that were messed up. Then she walked away. At that point I was really stressed and no one told me how long I was supposed to let them dry for so after I had felt I had been there for the adequate amount of time I got up and walked up to the register to pay. I then noticed after I got home that I messed up another nail as well! I really liked the nail salon where I used to live so maybe I'm used to getting spoiled or something but I definitely expected more... I won't be back. We were taken care of and my regular manicure looks amazing!  My boyfriend's mom requested a pomegranate spa and she was especially cared for. I will recommend that they pay close attention to anyone with walking disabilities. Toward the end a rolling chair nearly caused an accident with her.  Her feet feel relaxed though! I've been going here exclusively for probably 4 years. I think the value is terrific with a pedicure for $30 in a very nice, clean bight atmosphere. I usually don't have an appointment and have never had to wait even when it's busy, there are a lot of pedi stations. If I get a 'regular' technician they know I tip well and I usually get good service, although they've never learned my name, they are very pleasant and professional. Usually it's a very good pedicure if it's one of the regulars, occasionally if it's someone I've never seen before it can be hit or miss. It is always very clean which I very much appreciate. I plan to even take my elderly mother in law there for her first pedicure this spring. So I recommend it. Read Less

At first I was a little unsure about this place. The way we were greeted was kind of awkward and I felt out of place. It became very busy very soon after we arrived and we probably waited about 10 minutes to be seated at the mani and pedi stations with no appointments. My daughter was getting a pedicure and a manicure and at first there was a man starting her pedicure....a man who I would suspect doesn't have any kids or nieces/nephews. It was awkward and apparent that my daughter (who is shy and only 10) was very uncomfortable. Kudos to the staff for recognizing this and switching the staff around so that a friendly woman who knew how to talk to kids took the man's place. The woman who did my French gel manicure was top notch! Super friendly and she was a perfectionist. I couldn't have been happier with my nails. This little "hole in the wall" nail salon was so nice! Little pricey sometimes but the people there were so friendly! And a woman brought a baby in with her and the little one started to cry while her nails were wet, not only did one of the people who wasn't working pick them up, they walked around with a baby to calm them down while the mom could relax; which I thought was so humbling. I drive the extra miles from West Hartford to get my pedicures here because it is THAT good! Long leg and foot massages, and even a fabulous chair massage if they aren't too busy! And, of course, the paint job is perfect.  At Royal Nail, they paint right up to your cuticle, which not only looks better, it also makes the pedicure last longer.  The girls are so friendly and nice too, so you really can't beat it. This place is very clean and sanitary. I've had both a pedicure and manicure here, on separate occasions, done by different employees, and they both have turned out great. A great place to get a manicure or a pedicure.  It is super cute and very clean inside.  The business is family owned and you can feel the love and pride they take in their spa.  The pedicures are very reasonable (for CT!) only $30.  I went in for the first time today and was very impressed! They include a hot stone, as well as a paraffin wax.  They also do a short shoulder massage when you are all done!  I only got a pedicure, but my friend also got a manicure and loved it.  I have not tried any of their gel services yet, but it looks like I won't be disappointed!They also offer a membership card that is super simple.  You visit ten times, you get ten dollars off!  So great and easy unlike some more complicated and costly plans!I will definitely be coming back here soon!
