I had my nails done somewhere else with a full set but was not happy. I wanted my own nails back but didn't know what was underneath the nails I had on. I spoke to Jasmine and explained all and she was amazing. I booked and between Jasmine and Lan the lady that did my nails they gave me my own nails back and they look amazing. The people are so friendly and it's a very relaxing place. I highly recommend this place. First time having my nails done here. I asked at the last minute if they could squeeze my little girl in for a paint too. Not only did they do it but they made her feel like a princess. I want to give 2 stars but I cannot deny my nails came out very nice. I just moved to Southbury and this nail salon is closest to my home. I walked in and wasn't really greeted and it looked like none of them wanted to do my nails. Just in case I was reading more into it than necessary I didn't immediately leave. I believe the technician who picked the short straws name was Mike. Not personable at all, not that I need conversation during it, but truly not a word unless absolutely necessary. I made wye contact at 1 point with the owner or manager and she just looked away. I did see some of them greet a regular with some enthusiasm. Little did they know I could have been. The salon is very nice aesthetically and a great location. My nails were really well done, but this is my last visit unless I am in dire need. Read Less

Worst gel manicure and pedicure I've ever had. They set timers for in-service massages to make sure you get as little pampering as possible and they can pump through as many customers as they can in a short amount of time. They want you to "pay now!" while you're service is still being completed. Call themselves a threading bar but never have anyone there who can actually do it! When the eyebrow/eyelash lady isn't in, they either tell you that you were never booked in, or they will cancel on you when you turn up without calling to let you beforehand! This has happened to me on numerous occasions! It used to be a good little beauty salon when it first opened, but now it's the most unreliable, unorganised and time wasting place I've ever been to! If you want to be maimed and then shamed for it, sensation nails is the place to go! At first being told with disgust that I "needed" a callous pedicure treatment, and then cut near my big toe in the most unprofessional and painful way I have ever experienced (the nail technician's response was one - oh sorry, does it hurt?), I sat weeping in the pedicure chair before deciding to leave before color was applied, worried as I was about infection. On my way out, I was asked by the male at the front desk about tip (I was in tears) - I explained the situation to their blank stares, and was not offered a refund or store credit. Very good service, recepcionist girl very friendly and helpful. And best of the best is Manisha, she done almost full body waxing and lashes in less than two hours. I should have read the reviews beforehand- I rarely get my nails done, but came here bc I'm going on a trip and wanted to get a mani-pedi as advertised 30  dollars... they talked me into gel, and a callus treatment that was minimal at best. When they added up my total it was 75 dollars! Apparently they don't count combo prices so be weary... I would have never come here for a mediocre job at NYC high end prices! Absolutely ridiculous. My second and last visit to Sensation Nails resulted in an injured cuticle due to the fact that the "nail tech" giving me a pedicure was so busy watching the door for new customers she cut my toenail cuticle. She tried to ignore the bleeding, but finally another tech took out a first aid kit and stopped the bleeding.This should have been enough for me to leave, but I allowed her to finish my pedicure and then let her lead me to the manicure station. I objected to the fact that it was littered with another customer's nail clippings so the "nail tech" brushed them away with a paper towel and then proceeded to pick up the same  used manicure implements that were there to begin my manicure.I left at this point and made my complaint to the manager who said it was a "language problem" and she would get another tech to complete my manicure. I told her providing a clean, safe, and hopefully relaxing service to one's customer's has nothing to do with language, paid for my pedicure and left. No amount of convenience is worth going there. I keep going back to Sensation because it's convenient but I think I am finally done.  I always leave there feeling like I spent a fortune.  When you ask for the $30 - manicure/pedicure they seem to rush through the job but not when you upgrade.  I had a gel manicure a few weeks ago.  Left with bloody cuticles and a divot in one finger that the woman tried to just cover up with polish.  I went back yesterday to get the gel removed and get a manicure without polish.  I still have gel polish on my fingernails after that? And bloody cuticles again.  The massage was excellent which is why I gave them 2 stars.  I think it's time to find a new place to go. Read Less

I've been coming here for years. When they first opened, they were incredible - prices were acceptable, the massages were fantastic, and the overall quality of their nail work was superb. As the years went on, their quality declined. The owner, Cherry, isn't there anymore. She knew me by name and even remembered what I did for work. The guy that runs the store seems a little too much in your face...always hovering over the technicians. It's kind of annoying, actually. The technicians themselves have changed tremendously too. Every time I go in there there's always new people working. There's also a new massage lady who asks after 2 minutes if you want an extra massage - $12 for 10 minutes. Kind of a rip-off. I popped in today to get a pedicure and manicure after travelling away for 6 weeks. My first thought was that the bar had been really well designed in a 'boutique style' which added a bit of much needed luxury to the experience. The receptionist was friendly and accommodating and managed to secure an appointment for me within 5 minutes. I opted for a pedicure and manicure at £32. Not the cheapest I've had, but I decided to give it a go anyway and wasn't disappointed. I was ...given a scrub, dead skin was cut away and best of all, there was no pressure to go for additional treatments. The nail technician who did my pedicure was really down to earth, honest and even gave me some really good tips that I could use at home. My manicure was done by the other technician who was a big character. I get really easily bored but we chatted the whole way through. Results - great! Even though it was a basic manicure, no signs of chipping or smudging and all polishes are good quality OPI. The whole experience was friendly. The guy who worked there, (I think he was the owners husband) even showed concern when two young girls were left by their Mum by checking if they were ok getting home by themselves. I honestly never feel compelled to write a review but my experience was just horrible. Linda was my manicurist and also did my pedicure. She was either in a very bad mood, or just is not friendly, which made it a really awkward unpleasant experience. I got the callous remover pedicure for $35 and it was the quickest pedicure I've ever gotten. She put the callous remover on for about a minute, if that, hardly filed the bottom of my feet, and my leg massage was almost non existent. She also grunted when my toe got smudged. Yeah it's annoying when that happens, but poor customer service. My gel manicure is actually lumpy. I will not be going back. Gave 2 stars because the massage was really great. Read Less

This place started out great with lots of perks to attract customers. Let's face it, this town has many nail salons to choose from - all pretty mediocre. I had the worst experience the last two times I have visited. They never have current and popular Essie colors. No one speaks English or they pretend not to like in a Seinfeld episode. They made me do my manicure and pedicure at the same time which is really not relaxing to the customer. I always have to repeat basic requests five times to get the desired result. The woman who used to do free massages hasn't offered a massage to me the last four times I was there and this past time, ask me if I wanted a massage. When I asked if it was free, she said, $12 for 10 minutes. Whether she understood my question or not, it should be part of the service. I never write reviews but I asked how long the wait was because I had a toddler with his nana shopping around plaza while I popped in for pedicure. They told me to pick a color and have a seat in the chair. They let me sit there with my feet soaking for over 30 minutes before I got up and slid my wet feet in my flip flops and walked out. As I got up not one person asked if everything was ok or apologized for tricking me into getting into the chair. I would have let it slide as a one time mistake but when I brought the situation up to my mom she said the same thing happened to her recently. I would have appreciated honesty and have them tell me no one is available and I could have made a plan to return later in the day. Just poor customer service that seems to be a pattern. Read Less

I've been coming here frequently since the week this place opened and I have not had a single experience where I was fully pleased with the service here. Today I had a particularly awful experience, I arrived at the salon and it was mildly busy, they told me to take a seat at one of the nail stations instead of telling me it was going to take a while to attend to me. After an hour of sitting and staring at my phone waiting for business, I finally decided to get up and go. Many people who had came in after me were serviced before myself, as well. The elderly woman sitting next to me was also abandoned mid-manicure and when she expressed her displeasure, they laughed at her and emptily apologized and continued about their rude and lagging ways. Instead of offering a compensation for the huge inconvenience they brought upon me they instead begged me to come in tomorrow because they obviously did not want to lose the money from my service since it is clear they only care about money. On top of that, my family from overseas were visiting one week and I took them here when they wanted a manicure, and they laughed and very obviously made fun of them in whatever foreign language they were speaking. The majority of the employees at this place show little understanding of English, show minimal care in your wants and concerns, and only care about money. They don't know how to run a business with exceptional customer service and as a resident of this town and an ex-frequenter to this salon I would never recommend going here to any person, ever. Save your time and money and go to one of the many other exceptional salons in town. I'd give this no stars if it were possible and I know I am not alone in saying that. Okay staff. Made an appointment for 1 o'clock and got there early to see if they could take me. but had to wait until 1:30 to get my nails done! 30 min over my appointment time! I got arylics done and they said they only have one staff member that  is trained to do that job so I had to wait but they took in other people who got arylics as just as they walked in with no appointment! The lady who did my nails was sweet but it seemed like they don't massage you as well as they used to. I am comparing to other places in southbury that I have been to. The lady at the front was so rude. I wrote down the tip on the receipt as I was paying. She wanted me to go use an atm so I can get cash for tip and min was $10. Not a good salon, the employees are clueless and do not care about quality. The first and only time I was there the girl cut my toe during pedicure, I was pissed and it got infected. Everytime when i  passed by Sensation,  it was always packed.  Out of my curiosity , want to know how they can keep such good business .  So i decided to try gel nails which i need to prepared for my friend's wedding later.  So when i walked in  the place, it really gave me a SENSATION. This place is a piece of art . I LOVE the way they decorated and organized . IT IS very very beautiful and elegant . The lady  who did my nails is the owner . Gave this place to try due to Gift Cards I received. Place was cute...Young woman greeted me nicely. It was busy, however they told me they could take me right then and there...great....Until I sat for 20 minutes (no exaggeration) in the lukewarm turned cold water..It was so awkward because no one was coming and I kinda just wanted to leave. Finally a young boy came to do my Pedi...he wasn't good at all. Foot massage was weak. He didnt speak a word of english and he kept giggleing with young girl next to me...which is probably why there was messy polish everywhere. The only great thing was the sweet woman who massaged me while I dried...I sensed she knew I needed it at that point..LOL..Ive had a handful of friends leave also..no major bad reasons just not wowed at all.... I agree with Janice.  This is the best quality of service I have seen in Connecticut and NYC.  The one star reviewer lives in the opposite side of the state, and this is her only review, which makes me wonder.I have been here several times since they opened.  Despite different staff being there, my experience is positive.  I have had the longest lasting polish ever -- this has been an issue since I moved to Connecticut.  The salon is thoughtfully and attractively organized.  Tea and water is available.  Plus, this holiday season I received a generous gift bag with ten dollar coupon, a pair of red socks, and hand cream.
