First pedicure here was pretty and painted lasted a long time. The con was that the man who did it was incredible careless on the fact that he was cutting me to the point where I was in tears and asked him to please stop hurting me. He just looked at me and continued to stab my feet and make me bleed. Been getting pedicures for years, i have never had a painful cuticle removal. The decorations were super pretty. They've got 2 huge tvs. The charge to take off gel, the prices were a lot higher, and I think that's probably because they are still semi-new. *eyelash fail* If you're thinking about getting your eyelash done here, I really urge you not too. When I started to go to Hyacinth to get my lashes filled (originally done in California 2 years ago) I thought that I was getting a good deal- (turns out you really do get what you pay for). I didn't really do my research on places and just stuck with hyacinth because it was close and convenient. My sister was visiting from california & told me it looks like my lashes may have been put on un- healthily ( is that even a word? it is now) and she told me she was worried because they looked like they were damaging my natural lashes.Obviously scared of losing my eyelashes,I did some research ( which I should have done in the first place! Because not once did I see a certification of any sort for lash work) I went to another certified lash artist in town. Turns out my natural lashes were being HEAVILY worn down from the amount (were talking globs and globs of GLUE used on my lashes) I ended up having a couple bald spots in my eyelashes but thank god I did have SOME lashes left. In fact the new lash artist was so disgusted with this work they had to be all completely removed. Moral of the story is- if you want to get a mani/pedi here thats fine but please do not get your eyelashes done here unless you don't care about damaging your natural lashes :( Read Less

I got my eyelashes done here for a few weeks and although it was cheap to get done, it took HOURS for a fill.  I recently started going somewhere else to get my eyelashes done and was told that Hyacinth completely DESTROYED my natural lashes. I gave them many chances, and have had varied results. The last time I was there will be the LAST time I go there. They switched employees halfway through my manicure to accommodate for someone needing a wax (reasonable), and the replacement ignored my requests, dug his nails into my cuticles, made me bleed, flooded my cuticles, got paint all over my fingers, etc. He also was incredibly rude when I asked him to "please stop hurting me" and "please remove all the excess paint before going under the UV light". I was told that he knew what he was doing, and I should just trust him. Mind you, I was bleeding from multiple wounds. The original employee who was doing my nails attempted to correct the poor results, but only managed to make me bleed more. They then expected full payment. I was near tears and paid just to get out of there. I was really upset about this - it's close to where I live and I had hopes to make them my regular location. This manicure was also in preparation for wedding photos, so naturally that added to the emotion of seeing my mistreated digits. One of the deeper wounds got infected and took weeks to heal. Wow - what an impressive operation at Hyacinth and wow - what a great selection of colors and services! We were treating a soon-to-be mom of 2 to pedicures before her due date and I wanted to try a place in the Cromwell area.  Two of my friends recommended Hyacinth as a clean and friendly place that is easy to find.  The owner and staff couldn't have been nicer.  We all chose polish by Vinylux and were told that this polish comes at a $2 premium which we were happy to pay.  I have used that polish before and it really does last a long time.  We all had full pedicures and it took about an hour including dry and massage time.  The quality of the pedicure was really great and worth the cost of around $32 each including tip.  I noticed a separate massage room on my way out.  If you need a full spa day and live in the area then you should check out Hyacinth! I went there for the first time this weekend and had a horrible experience.  I walked in and asked how long the wait would be for removal of acrylic nails and a mani and I was told they could take me right away.  I was seated right away and then the manicurist cut just my thumbnail .. A few young girls came in asking for eyebrow waxes so she got up without letting me know what was going on, waxed eyebrows for the 4 girls and then was gone in the back over 15 minutes after that.  At that point I was frustrated by the service and lack of communication, so I started walking towards the door to leave.  The manicurist came out from the back and was laughing at me!  Then she had the nerve to ask why I would be leaving. I didn't even know what to say.  I just left and went down the street to Bella Nail Salon and they were fantastic. I would never go to Hyacinth again after that experience. Read Less

She wound up being too shy and scared to have anyone paint her nails, but the staff couldn't have been nicer! Hyacinth Nails & Spa is my favorite local stop for manicures, pedicures and waxing - I have been coming here for a couple of years and am officially a "regular" with a box filled with my "beautifying tools". The employees are always warm and friendly when I arrive and salon (which sustained some fire damage earlier this year) has been completely renovated to make it even more relaxing and airy.  I never have a problem getting an appointment and have never been turned away during the several times I have decided to "walk in" with my husband to get a quick eyebrow wax or polish. They are a full service nail salon (gel, acrylic, she-lac) as well as offer massage and waxing services.  Hyacinth also offers a frequent customer card where after ten manicures - the eleventh one is free!  Definitely good for someone who is watching their pennies but still wants to look good.Their leather pedicure chairs are very comfortable with massage features that give me that "Calgon take me away" feeling that we all sometimes need.  I especially love their spa pedicure which includes a callous remover.  I had many a dream about this service during my marathon training cycle this past fall and it was well worth the wait when I had it a couple of weeks ago!As was said by another reviewer the salon can get crowded but the employees are fast and efficient - I never feel like I am being rushed.  It goes to show the quality of the services provided though as I have seen more then one person wait patiently for their chance to be pampered Read Less

Read Less

I stopped in to Hyacinth one morning with my 2 1/2 year daughter to get a pedicure and have her nails painted. She wound up being too shy and scared to have anyone paint her nails, but the staff couldn't have been nicer! It was not busy, but they did chat with her as she sat in a pedi chair watching a movie on the iPad. My pedicure was fantastic; they did a great job. The massage chairs were comfortable, and the massages during the pedicure and during drying were very good. The staff was so friendly and the place was clean. I plan on returning either solo or with my older daughter in the very near future. Read Less

Clean, friendly and reasonably priced. Hyacinth was super busy when I visited, and there as a wait,  but it was a holiday weekend. Even so, the wait wasn't long and my toes looked great.  Based on what I observed, there seemed to be a number of regulars circulating in and out, all of whom were greeted warmly. Gentlemen take notice! I was pleasantly surprised to be seated next to two gentleman who were also getting pedicures. Even dudes deserve pretty feet. Read Less
