This was the best gel manicure and pedicure I have ever gotten. I have had my gel nails for 3 weeks now and they still look perfect! I also work in a hospital and am constantly washing my hands so even with my excessive hand washing they still are in pristine condition! They also take more time and are very methodical to ensure your nails won't chip. They also have the widest selection of nail polish colors than any other place I have been to. Horrible! Decided to get a pedicure this past weekend and I have to say ... it was the worst experience I have ever had. The nail technician cut my nails crooked and way too short ! As she was filing my them, they started to hurt and I I couldn't understand why until I looked down ... the smallest nail is split in half and the biggest one on each foot is razor sharp and super uneven. My nails chip and peel incredibly easily. When I presented with 6 chipped nail tips less than 24 hours later, someone at the salon fixed them nearly immediately, for free. It's been 8 days since that manicure (regular polish not gel), and though all the tips are chipped off, the rest of the polish is actually still intact and looks pretty good. Coming from New York, where there are a dozen nail salons on every block, I have had many many mani and pedis. I commute back and forth now from New York to Old Saybrook and I decided to give Fashion 1 Nail Spa a try. Well, my expectations were high since I had many comparisons. Fashion 1 Nail Spa, exceeded my expectations completely!!!! I have been there 4 times now....and they have been the only ones I've been to in Old Saybrook and I have no intentions on trying anyone else!! They are amazing!!! I started with a rose spa pedicure and a gel manicure. They were both AMAZING!!!! So great, that Ive been getting them each time I go. My gel manicure seriously lasts for a month!!! Not a chip or a break ever!!! My nails are growing like they never have before and look just beautiful!!! The owner is so efficient and on top of everyone to make sure all her customers are getting the best treatment. Each pedicure and manicure ends with a parrafin wax treatment and my feet and hands are sooooo soft!!. Their pricing is unbelievably great!! Way better than in New York and the service alone makes them so much more valuable!!! I came here with two girlfriends based on the reviews and we were disappointed at the beginning. We had appts but only 1 of us started on time.  The others waited 20-30 minutes. They did not listen to me when I asked for warmer water. I was really frustrated by that because that is one thing I love about pedicures. Paraffin wax was included in basic pedicure for $40. I live in NYC, land of a million spas and manicurists, and I found the best of BOTH here. Fashion 1 Nails just pampered my toes with unexpected delights, ( and of course my hands). Slow, careful work insured a beautiful result. Hot wax, massage all included. For my gel manicure, gloves to protect against UV rays. The manicurist looked carefully at my hands to insure the filing was even. I didn't know places with SERVICE existed anymore.Now a word about the BEST MASSAGE I HAVE EVER ENJOYED. There is a new massage salon in OSB and the masseuse is named Sophia, an enchanting and enormously talented masseuse who rubs your body with warm oils and hot stones, $100 for 100 minutes. she can not yet afford to advertise, so I hope you will read this. I went to this salon a year ago. It was great --price was right. Today I had an appointment.I clearly stated on the phone basic pedicure and manicure. They said $38. I listened to them answer the phone and quote prices--that was a joke no one wrote anything down. They would answer the phone say "okay all set" that's it. I went in they pointed and said "pick a color" I did. Two hours later--feet great but hands, they cut and filed my nails to the point that I now could use extensions. LOL Then she started with the gel nail process that I did not order. When she asked me for my "color" I said the same that is on my feet. Two other workers looked at me in amazement--the girl said "No"---not that color it's not gel polish, you wanta gel, you said, you wanta gel. I explained I just wanted a basic manicure. I was not happy, she had to continue the process. $72 later--an then I left a $8 tip and she bascially told me that wasn't enough. I would have left a bigger tip--however they took enough--my finger nails will need to grow and heal. I did go back with a note, as there is no way that they listen to you--I attempted to talk to them while I was there. I gave them my phone number--no response. I did give them a suggestion to post clearly thier prices and process on the wall. This salon is much better than Villa in Guilford. I went here after my Villa disaster (and was definitely nervous). Chanel ended up doing a great job. They are not the cheapest show in town by far, but they are pretty thorough and the hand and upper back massage is an added plus. I will definitely come back. Read Less

Site of the first nail salon in Old Saybrook- with so many salons to choose from within one square mile, don't drive by this place. Easy to find right on Main Street next to Jack Rabbits. Great new owners. Very clean and extremely friendly. Highly recommend both manicure and pedicure services- will return in the near future. Read Less
