i go to all this nails salon in main street first of all for hours they dont speak english. they only ask you for cash or they will say some words to you. and they push you for mpre tips cash also. i worked in china japan korean none ever tips me. i dont ubderstand making 75 dollars cash plus tips and they r still there curse yoy and complaining thwy want more. reality thwy do everything without licensed in state of ct. The owner is the best for nails. The pedicure is well worth it, they use hot stones and overall is a great deal. I've never had any issue with customer service or being rushed. For the price it is a great deal and definitely recommend. Have been going here on and off for years -- I live in NYC so whenever I'm home for the weekend or during holidays I always come in to get my feet done. I decided to try this place out cause its right next to my massage place and wanted to relax and be stress free.. I'm in the customer service business and I usually would never do this but I will never go to this nail salon again.. First the lady was on the phone and when I walked in she was so rude about greeting me like I was bothering her then while getting my nails done they decided to mop the floor and which is great that they are cleaning but they can wait till they close to do it. The smell gave me a huge headache. Then we play musical chair since they were mopping the floor . they moved the table and chair three times while I was getting nails done. Then when I was finally done I checked my gel nail and there was patches of my nail that wasnt painted or it was faded and she was trying to pull it off like it was done then I told her about it and decides to put a different color on top of the first color. At that point I let it go.. Then getting pedicure the girl was cleaning it so hard and cleaning that she cut me after I told her it was to hard the first place. Then I got wax and told her how I liked it and she said quote on quote" dont worry I won't touch your shit" I thought that was extra rude and unprofessional. Then. Everyone of them decided to go in and out of a private room that I was in like it was okay. And now I'm waiting outside of the place because they didn't care that my pedicure wasn't dry yet. I LOVE this place, no matter how damaged or however bad of a job my nails are from a previous nail salon they ALWAYS manage to make my nails look beautiful, I believe the owners name is Sun. Every single time they come out perfect. You can say it's " pricey" but in reality it's not because she uses high quality products and her work is exceptional. Sadly I must leave them with a bad review. I have been going to this salon for years. Lately they seem to have different staff. Not as friendly. I kept chalking it up to a busy season and bad timing. But after my last experience, I must say goodbye to this place. I had a gel manicure and needed an extension on 1 nail. 2 days later the nail with the extension split in half as I was picking up a box. my nail rested against the box as I lifted it but I did not jam it or bang it. The next day i got in to have it repaired. The woman who repaired the nail, did a poor job, it didn't look like any of my other nails and it was the wrong color. Again, I chalked it up to bad luck. Then as I was about to leave her a tip, the man there said she needed to charge me $7 to fix it. Ok $7 isn't going to kill me but that was not the point. When I told him the manicure which should have lasted 2+weeks was only 2 days old, he told me I had to pay for it regardless. I told him I was unhappy with that decision and I wouldn't be back if he insisted on this and he rudely insisted anyway. Time to find a new salon. Read Less

I like this place. It was my first time here today I got a gel manicure and my nails came out really well. Everyone there made me feel really understood which was great because usually when I go to a nail salon I feel like no one understands what I'm saying and I don't understand what they are trying to say to me. This place has really good prices too! Gel is only 23 dollars, usually I pay 30. This is pretty close to my job which I love. It is not the fanciest place, but it seems clean enough. I will be back. I have traveled from Manhattan and now as far as Middletown to go all the way here to this salon to get my shellac nails done.  Their system works and the nails look great for at least two weeks.  Other salons must somehow water down the products but here at Serendipity they do the shellac technique correctly.  They also make you wash your hands before the polish is applied and they are fast and efficient.  Yes, sometimes the staff can be rude and impatient and the owner can be quiet and abrupt but that is okay.  You absolutely cannot get a better nail shellac process done anywhere like this.  Thank you ladies at the salon for always being great to me. This location concerns me on the cleanliness / sanitation of the store and products.  I wasn't impressed by the service here at all. The ladies rush you, rude, and are rough. I remember the one woman holding my hand for my manicure and it felt like she was squeezing it.  The lady who did my pedicure was HORRIBLE! I recall her doing my nails and thinking...I could have done this myself.  I had to have another lady redo my toes bc the first time it was done...it was just sloppy! They also switch ladies for your manicure and pedicure multiple times which makes me question if it's there way of making money off of tips.  I wouldn't recommend this location. The techs are polite and nice, so they get two stars for that. I got a manicure here for ten dollars. Quality of the manicure was disappointing. It started to chip after two days. I've had manicures around this same price point before and they didn't start to chip until a week later. I probably won't be back. DO NOT GO HERE! Unsanitary and rushed. I was seated immediately after previous customer left and technician failed to wipe her work space and tried to use the same tools on me. I very nicely requested a fresh set and that's when it all went downhill. She threw them on the table and talked about me the entire time in spanish to her coworker, not realizing I understood every word.  The typical $10 manicure was finished in about 8 minutes and she skipped various steps along the way. I felt like I still should tip her 20pct, I  mean thats only $2! I felt weird leaving less. Well, she grabbed said tip from my hand and was very rough with me. I wanted to complain to owner but decided to just never return! I would give no stars if I could! Stressful and unsanitary. Insulting to customers! HORRIBLE! Maybe it was just this one technician, but who knows?! I will never be back! This was a rush job with a snarky employee who is a major safety violation! The lady who did my pedicure wasn't very good -- the cutting/trimming and painting of my toe nails was very sloppy.  The lady who did my finger nails was better, and I was relatively happy with the job she did.  Either way, both of them rushed through their work which left me feeling less than relaxed.  I'd like to note that there was only one other customer in the salon for the first half of my treatment, so the rushing made no sense.  The salon itself felt kind of dingy and old too.I thought my experience was pretty subpar, but supports the adage that you get what you pay for.  I came in with the Valpak coupon which allows for a mani pedi for $20 instead of the usual $23.I would not go back again. OK, so this place was fine but after reading other reviews, I was expecting spectacular. While it is very clean, the shop is older and has seen many coats of paint on the walls. I can deal with that since it was really very clean. I had the $23 manicure and pedicure. When I went to pay, they said my card "wouldn't go through".They asked me to go to the ATM and get cash. I guess it's more of a cash business but being new to the area, I didn't know this. So while they accept credit cards, they really don't want to. I can understand not wanting to pay the taxes but asking me to go to the ATM was a bit much. I do typically pay cash so that's not normally an issue.Pros: Manicure and pedicure were nicely done and the little spanish speaking girls were very nice. I speak a little spanish so I understood some of their conversation about their kids, etc. At least they weren't talking smack about the customers :)Cons:  Cash only biz but not advertised as such, Asian woman who was there spent most of her time on the phone and even when I was paying did not stop talking on the phone in her language. I drove from Stamford to come here because I've been searching for a good nail salon that's reasonably priced. I called a few places closer to me and they were all around 30-40 for a mani+pedi.  I called Serendipity and they said $20.00. So i went straight to the car to head to Norwalk.Overall...Pros: -Very cheap-give you all the perks of the 30 dollar places ( hot stones, hot towels, long massages) -Good color selection-They do the shellac colors that last like 2 weeks-clean place -Attentive when they are empty-Take credit cards ( and i can add my tip to it)- free parking - my color has not chippedCons: -There are a few languages going on in there + a few smiling and nodding but clearly not understanding my requests (made me laugh though) -When they get busier they become frazzled and cant seem to organize the flow.  people were left sitting with half finished manicures, a lady was told she wouldn't make her appointment someplace else and to come back after the appointment even though there was clearly enough time. How I wish this place was near my house!  $25 for a spa mani/pedi including a hot stone massage AND a neck/shoulder massage while your nails dry.  I'm not talking some weak-ass 2 minute shoulder rub either - this chick busted out lotion and went to town on my muscles for a good 10 minutes (4 cycles of the nail driers). It was awesome!! Best deal ever!The place was clean, ladies were friendly (although none spoke a whole lot of English so we didn't talk much), and they had loads of polish colors to choose from.  To top it off, this is the longest lasting manicure I've ever had.   Part of that could be that I was on vacation and not typing all day every day, or doing dishes, etc, but still...really great all around.  The sign outside just says "Nails" or "Nail Salon" but it is directly across the street from the Hilton.
