No STARS!! Unfortunately I have to give one star in order to post my review. The owner KEN is rude and full of himself. I went there two weeks ago to get my nails and within ONE WEEK. ( I got a full gel set)TWO of my nails came completely off. I gave Magic Nails the benefit of the doubt because the girl who did my nails seemed to be new and in training. I arrive 4/26/18 on my lunch break to fix my nail. The salon was understandably busy and they could not see me, so I left. 4/27/18 at 10:00am I called in to schedule with Linda. I figured I should be proactive and make sure someone is available before I arrive...To my surprise I was not welcomed. I request a 11:45 appointment with Linda. Ken advised that is fine, "but you do know our policy right" (( The policy is you can be five mins early or five mins late..any later they have the right to cancel your appointment. )))I advised Ken I know the policy, do not worry I will be there at 11:45. He goes on about the policy and I need to know. I said I do know the policy and I am confirming. He says well we may not be able to see you, you will have to wait. I asked why would I have to wait? I am calling in to make an appointment, you advised Linda is free at 11:45, is she not free? He says sometimes we can be late and I need you to understand we can refuse your service. I asked him why was he being so combative. I am a paying costumer trying to give him business. I explained this would be my second time coming to your shop after my nail broke within one week. I explained I was just there yesterday and you were packed an unable to see me..so I did the right thing by calling to make an appointment. Why are you being so confrontational with me when all I am trying to do is give you business? He went on an on about how he can refuse me and they can be late. I said I am not understanding, is Linda not free. He said she is free. I went on to ask why would I not be seen at 11:45 if I am making an appointment. He said because your calling today. I replied but your telling me she is free, should I make a later time. He says she is free but I can come later. Now I am completely confused. He then goes on RANTING about not having to see me. He can refuse my business, and do I understand the policy because if I don't he is not scheduling. I said I want to see Linda at 11:45 he said okay, as long as you understands the policy. Linda 11:45 and hung up one. I must say, he lacks customer service skills. I truly believe he thinks people are obligated to go to his salon because there are limited nails salons in Norwalk. I lived in Norwalk all my life and NEVER went to Magic based on the stories I heard about his attitude. I only went because my mother raves about Linda. Lesson learned. SOME of staff may be good, but they are only as good as management. I WOULD NEVER recommend magic due to the management, the quality of work, and the wait. Save your money, and a trip elsewhere. They really deserve NO STARS. The owner, Ken, prices his services differently by the color of your skin. Doesn't like when you criticise his nail polishes or complain about an employee. His business is dirty and they use the same wax stick for multiple customers. Wouldn't recommend at all! Read Less

Very Unprofessional, I booked an appointment for 530 and when arrived the owner said your appointment is at 6. I was livid but I waited, another lady walks in at 550 and says she has an appointment at 6 amd the owner tells me I have no appointment. Meanwhile another lady is there upset because some extra work she had done fell off and he told her to get out he was not refunding or replacing. The Worst Salon Experience Ever! The typical nail salon except he gives out a number to each customers (not sure how that works but yea)... still no PLOC. Prices are extremely high. Lots of empty stations. Two people does pedicures and neither speak a bit of english. Owner has a hige napoleon complex and he treats minorities like pure garbage... he makes insensitive racial jokes and over steps the boundaries by scolding children and ignoring parents. The first two times seemed ok but on my second trip he (Ken) disrespected a customer, and was show boating. His wife did my nails the first time (fantastic), next time Ken did my bails which were thick, crooked and I was not satisfies at all. I tried to shrug it off and went a third time but left without getting my nails done... Ken emotions were eratic and unstable almost bipolar, his constant showboating, disrespectful, and condescending attitude was disgusting especially to minorities who bri g in 85% of the bisinedd. In any case, I wanted a specific person but I was told no by Ken at that point I had enough and walked out never to return. In the end I moved on to sexy nails where Sophia a more sophisticated professional began caring for my nails.... Go to Sexy nails ask for Sophia, the owner or Jennifer who has 30+yrs experience as a nail technician)... my nails are now beautifully done at a reasonable price, not thick, straight and last over 3 weeks. This is the most unprofessional salon I have been too. It may be that I am from NY and I'm used to better treatment from employees but I came here with no expectations. Hoping to get a nice manicure. I had an apt and had to wait HOURS after my apt until they could fit me in. They still didn't get to me. The owner "ken" was rude and disrespectful when I asked what the problem was since I have been waiting for hours and have an apt and he told me that apt times are only for when you should arrive, not when you will get your treatment. Not sure how that makes any sense, but I will not be going here. Good luck to people who have hours to wait! The nails looked beautiful, however the perfesionalism sucked! Ken has become extremely disrespectful. I asked to make an appointment for him to do my nails. He said no. When I asked why I couldn't make an appointment instead of waiting for a couple of hours, he said because I don't want to. I have never done anything to deserve that. Goes with what another reviewer said he only makes appointments with a select few. Needless to say I have been coming here for sometime because the pricing is pretty good. I used to enjoy coming to Magic Nails in Norwalk because Linda, one of the nail techs, was truly amazing at doing her job. But I always felt that the owner Ken had a hidden agenda...always setting prices according to color if someone's skin, taking appointments for a chosen few and no one else. On several occasions he was rude when I tried to talk to him about issues I had with his product or his business practices. If you pay cash you pay no tax...if you pay by credit card you get charged tax and a processing fee. Because I tried to tell him he was wrong in doing so he told me he would rather not have me as a customer.YOUR LOSS KEN...I AM AN EXCELLENT TIPPER AND NO ONE SUFFERS BUT YOUR STAFF. I went to this place probably 5 times. I never did fake nails ( gel ) before and decided to give it a try. My first time there I got paired with this guy who had the same name as the owner, Ken, and he was so awful. Again it was my first time so i had a lot of questions and was a bit indecisive about shapes and colors ...instead of walking me through it he was aggravated and rushing me.. he had glued the tip of a few of my nails on crooked and argued with me about it. He redid one but then told me I would be charged if he had to re-glue on any others. Extremely confrontational and I walked away from there feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. I gave them another chance and THE ONLY REASON I AM GIVING THIS PLACE A STAR IS BECAUSE OF the girl Annya who did my nails the second time. She spoke English and was pleasant and fixed the poor job the guy did prior to seeing her. She did an amazing job and was extremely sweet. It was obvious everyone loves her because the next 2 times i went there she was always busy...and seeing how she wad booked solid, I had yet again horrible experience with now 2 other separate workers at this place. One had no idea what she was doing. Didn't speak English...or the language of the rude owner either...he had to interpret what I was saying to someone else to then tell her. I had wanted gel fill nails with matte top coat. She ended up doing one whole hand in acrylic and the other in "gel". I had showed her a photo of the color I wanted and the owner picked it out. When she put the color on wet I said it doesn't look like the color I wanted and the owner insisted I let it dry. She did all nails before she put under the light and it still was not the color. The owner was rude and argued with me explaining to me that it was the color i asked for and that i would be charged more if I wanted to change it. Then she put 3 top coats on and thought that ment matte. There were bubbles and little hairs stuck in the polish and when she was done I just told him to take the extra charge for matte top coat off. He insisted I did it, but my nails already had too many coats on it looked ridiculous and I just wanted to leave. They are always in a rush..its set up like fast food. I also found out the hard way that they remove the nails the 100% wrong way by cracking or wedging something between the acrylic and your weakend nail bed and rip it off. I asked them to soak them off like I researched and the owner told me it takes too long and that in fact the acetone ruins your nail bed worse then ripping it off. *lies* After this horrible experience I decided to hell with fake nails and went to a real nail salon down the street called Fantastic Nails . Upon soaking my nails and removing them they told me that what i had wasnt gel . when I paid much more for gel nails...they gave me all acrylic instead. Been coming to this shop for about 8 years! I've tried other salons but always came back because nothing compares to this place!Ken is awesome and understanding, treats his customers with respect and is extremely professional and fair.The quality of my nails are great! I get gel powder and polish over my real nails and they last me 3 weeks!! Linda is great at doing nails! Highly recommend her and/Anne.Shop looks great especially after the expansion.Worth you money! For Norwalk the prices are reasonable. Everyone there has a certain specialty that I like which is a plus. It's a very friendly environment, everyone is nice and respective. If you plan on going on weekends get there early because it's packed. These are just some of the nails I've gotten done there. Read Less

I went here to get the tips one time, the girl told me that the gel tips was $10 or $15 more. I said okay, because I know that gel is better for your nails. I had never had it at that time but I wanted to give it a shot.So me being so naive, I let the girl do my nails, thinking she's doing the right things. She finished and my nails were a decent job. Two weeks later I went to another salon to get a gel fill. Turn outs I didn't really have gel tips in the first place, the used acrylic and put on very thick. I was furious. Not sure why this place is rated so highly. I waited nearly an hour for a basic manicure, which was cheap at $11, but was mediocre: poorly shaped nails and polish chipped a few days later. I like my nail salons spotless- this is not to my standard. Place is dirty very dusty and tools they use are worn out. They also have a roach issue i got a gel manicure and pedicure from them in the middle of my pedicure a roach fell from the ceiling and almost landed on my feet I'm just glad it wasn't on me. Manager didn't do anything just was too busy on the phone. Also they did not disinfect the chair where the lady that did my feet  at after me .Basically just changed the towel while they had the next customer sit in the chair after me. Makes me wonder who was in the chair before me. There was dust everywhere you could see it on the nail brushes! It was just gross I had to go home and take a shower after I would never go there again you might catch something just dirty ! I finally found a salon I can go to on a regular basis! The staff are very nice and listen to what you want. I have a UV gel French Manicure tip set. It was done perfectly and looked very natural. The prices are competitive for the area.Pros - Finished result was flawless. Great Price.Cons - NO cons related to my nails but, The Shop is not the cleanest looking place. By far the best nail salon I've ever been to. I'm very picky with how my nails but after going to magic nails, i fell in love. I love the quality of it. They last long so I know they use good products. I usually like to go to Ken and Anna but the other people are good too. I really love Ken and Anna's personality and they make me feel comfortable. I live out of state but have family here so when I come in town, I always go to Magic Nails. I get my brows done by Anna. Again, I'm very picky and particular on how I want my nails and eyes brows done and I love how my nails and brows turn out. The prices are reasonable, they are a lot cheaper then the places I've been to before.  Of course a lot cheaper than where I'm from. I love this place!! Magic nails is my "go to" nail salon in Norwalk! Ken and Anna always take care of me when I visit them. They don't accept credit cards anymore. =[  I love how Anna always does my premenant French manicure! It's a little bit more expensive then the regular acrylic but it looks so much classier and my nails last longer with them. One of my pet-peeves is the young crowd that goes there. It can be a little excessive how rude they may become. It's kind of a turn off, especially since I have been coming to magic nails since 2006. I would recommend making an appointment ahead of time, because they now have a wait time (mostly between 30 mins to 45 mins). They now recently opened up on Sunday's too! I have done my eyebrows here too, I like the way Anna does them. As for my pedicure, I always go to Christine she takes care of my hang nails that kill my size 5 feet (one of the negatives of tiny feet!).As a customer since 2006, I def do recommend this place because of the quality of material and work that they do! If you don't care too much for other customers and their bothersome behavior then this is a place to try. I wish they would redecorate a bit, maybe a new floor, furniture, and paint will go a long way! Overall I love the work Ken and his staff do! Color me thrilled. Cant tell you how long I have been trying to find a shop that does a good job on Acrylic fills. So maybe Acrylic is old hat but I've been using it for more than 20 years and is lasts better than anything else I've tried. I have a shop in Florida that I love, the best job ever until now. After suffering (literally at some shops) bumpy, fat looking, uneven ,you name it, the worst jobs ever, in lots of different local shops, I finally found Magic Nail. Ken took care of me, reassuring me along the way, and boy did he deliver. Beautiful smooth, slim looking nails, no discomfort during the process no sore cuticles the next day. Finally the result I have been looking for. 4 stars because the place could be cleaner if you are fussy about such things this may not be the place for you. But, if the final result on your nails is Paramount this is it. To me the prices are too low. Yes, too low for what you get with the work that I have done. A little higher price and perhaps the place could get a little spruce up with the extra money. Read Less

I work outdoors and my hands get pretty dirty and messed up. My wife went to Magic Nails to get her nails done for a party we had to go to and dragged me along and forced me to get a manicure. I really hate nail salons but the workers here made me feel comfortable. I was greeted as soon as I stepped in and got my manicure done in less then 20 minutes. Look for Ken or Anna when you go there. Anna did my wife's nails and Ken gave me my first manicure. Looks like I'm gonna come back next time with my wife. Read Less
