I've been to this salon several times with no complaint. They have a sign outside that says walk in welcome. The day before my wedding I went with one friend to get a manicure and pedicure. An hour and a half later of sitting in pedicure chairs our nails still weren't painted. I ended up having to leave without any of my nails being completed to make it in time for my rehearsal dinner. went to get a full set of acrylic nails with my friend. we got there at 5:30pm and literally were there for 2 hours!!! we left at 7:30!! Now after 2 hours you'd think our nails would look amazing - WRONG!!!!! Mine look like they already need a fill - she didn't go down to the cuticle with the acrylic so it already looks grown out. I honestly think a 2 year old could of painted my nails better - there is more polish on my skin then there is on my nail. First mani pedi of my life and it was flawless!  Inexpensive (what other salons go for on Groupon), relaxing, friendly, and noxious smells were kept to a minimum. The only downside was that I came in with my sister and there were not enough people working/no effort was made to work on both of us at the same time. I was 75% of the way through both my services before she had anything started. So she didn't have time to get both a mani and pedi before work. But for me, I would definitely recommend it. Read Less

I am not one to complain but I got a full set there and not only was there 3 hours for a set and a pedi but by the time she did my nails she rushed ! All glue under my nails, she never buffed it out from underneath! All uneven! And acrylic too wide on some nails ! I'm so disappointed I had to pay 55.00 for this and to be so dissatisfied! Love Tom here but one of the women, whom I believe is Toms wife, refused to do a gel top coat on me and when I asked to fix the gel fill on a nail she said it was fine. The nail is now broken down the middle she was also very rude to me, my nails are rubbing off on everything,napkins, papers. Being that this nail salon had such great reviews on Yelp my friend and I thought we would give it a try. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. My tech was clearly inexperienced and should have had more training before working with customers. He was friendly, as was the rest of the staff, but it shouldn't take an hour for a basic mani; especially one that didn't include a hand massage, hot towel, lotion or scrub. Nice nail salon, easy to find. The parking was a little confusing- sign on the street said no parking and I wasn't sure if there was parking behind the building so I took my chances and parked right in front. No issues there. I used to get my nails done all the time - crazy colors and lengths were my specialty. Unfortunately I don't have 2 hours every two weeks to spend in the salon, and about 2 years ago I took them off and hadn't stepped in a nail salon since.You can imagine just how badly I needed a pedicure.One Saturday afternoon I decided I had enough willpower to ONLY get the pedicure and not be swayed into putting on the acrylics I miss so badly. I didn't want to deal with my old nail salon being that it's in the Waterbury mall, and it was a Saturday afternoon. I found this place due to some Yelp reviews (and literally drove right past it on my first attempt to find it) and gave it a shot.It's your typical no frills nail salon. Pedicure chairs are decent (though the one I was sat in didn't have the back massaging feature) and it seemed like they were doing more of those than anything else. The woman who did my pedicure commented on how bad I needed one (sorry again!) and she did a really good job. I'd go back for another pedicure. First things first - look at the pictures the other reviewers post of how they LOVE the end result of their visit. Is it just me?!  they all look crazy thick and ridiculous. Is this a new style? I really should've looked more closely when I was trying to find a new nail spot. I'm local to Naugatuck and decided to try this place. With all the high reviews, who wouldn't? Initial observations - no appointment, taken right away, limited color selection, nearly no options for the weekly mani colors, everyone was very pleasant and engaging, polish display is very rag tag - just thrown together and unprofessional, sanitizing units are really just used to "store" the packaged tools - weird), pedicure chairs are older but highly adjustable forward/backward/recline etc. My first visit was for a manicure (no color) with a pedicure - total was $35 not including tax, totally reasonable. The pedicure was great in that there was quite a bit of care taken to careful callus and cuticle removal. I was impressed by the amount of attention and time on this - but maybe it was because my feet were in bad shape? Woman stopped over to say hi, mostly because the young lady assigned didn't speak much English, and told me I can avoid an ingrown toenail by cutting the sides at an angle... I respectfully replied that this actually encourages an ingrown nail (maybe it's just in my case?) and asked that they be trimmed straight across. All in all I left satisfied with the service and planned to return - specifically due to the nail tech alone, she was great and I tipped her well for her efforts. I decided to return 2 weeks later (with the same nail tech) and asked for the mani/pedi again - but the difference this time: I asked for color the mani. Now - this is what prompted my review... Pedicure went as expected and the mani portion was also satisfying. Once we were ready to apply color, things got uncomfortable. Couple of notes - I brought my own Essie color this time because they don't have a lot of selection and I noticed quite a bit of "thinning" of bottles during my last visit - their paints are old, half or nearly a quarter left in most so it makes it hard to apply evenly. My bottle was brand new, unused and I could tell the woman was having a hard time with it on my toes - way thinner and more fluid than those she was used to, which meant a lot of clean up throughout the service. During the mani, The paint was laid so thickly that an additional coat would have taken forever to dry - so I mentioned that only one coat is needed. She obliged and proceeded to apply *3* additional layers of top coat... Ugh. Aside from the millennium it takes to dry, we all know what happens when polish is too thick: it peels almost immediately... I literally got through about 6 hours before the first nail started to peel. All the others followed shortly afterward, leaving me looking like a toddler who had picked away at her polish obsessively. (I later noticed that the paint on my toes was also very thick - not a big deal considering you toes don't risk chipping/peeling nearly as much as your fingers)I felt compelled to post this review considering all the rave reviews that lured me here in the first place - maybe the clientele has little to compare this salon to so that's why they believe this is a fantastic place? maybe you're looking for acrylic - I can't speak to that? Or just a pedi? Or you won't need/want any color applied to your fingers? Then this is a good place - personally, I just expected that the mani would last for at least a few days. Having moved to Naugatuck just a month ago and being the mom of a toddler I had not had the chance or time to find a reliable and reasonable nail salon. After looking on yelp and reading positive reviews, I decided to give Golden Nail and Spa a try. I got a gel manicure and a pedicure. Walking in I was greeted with a friendly attitude and everyone was extremely nice. They helped me pick a sassy summer color.Tran did a fabulous job doing my manicure... Frankly she had a tough job because they were a train wreck. She took time and really did detailed work, they came out beautiful. My pedicure was done by another girl who also was very detail oriented and did a great job she even did the shaving of callus' which some salons won't do or charge you extra.This was a great first experience and I will definitely be back in two weeks.For both gel mani and pedicure it cost $50 which is very reasonable! This is my new favorite nail salon! I went in for a pedicure and shellac manicure and had a fantastic experience. The pedicure was so relaxing and the manicure came out pretty good.  Their prices are fantastic!  Shellac mani and pedicure for $50 + tip!My only little complaint was about the color which could have used a 3rd coat but I didn't speak up, so it's my own fault. I still love the color and I'm sure a 3rd coat would have been no problem. I love this place! This is by far one of my favorite nail salons and it is right down the road from me! They are reasonably priced, basic pedicure is competitive with any other nail salon. I recommend upgrading to a spa or jelly pedi, I have been to sooo many nail places for Pedi's, upgrade to spa and sometimes its ok and sometimes disappointing, never disappointed at Golden! For a good price, they go the extra mile and it feels amazing. The jelly pedi is so relaxing and rejuvenating for a great price!!So if you like the high end pedicures but want the salon on the corner price, this is your place! Also, some places you go to that are lower price tend to be Asians who don't really speak English and chatter to each other while rushing you thru, not relaxing at all. This place is run and owned by a very clear English speaking Asian lady who takes pride in how her business is run. She overlooks her employees and socializes with clients to make sure they are happy. I have been a number of times and have even brought my visiting best friend, who wants to go back. Pedicure was delightful, I hadn't had one in approximately 8 million years so I sprung for the fancy $40 one with hot stone massage and whatnot (they have cheaper). They don't skimp on the foot rubs either, yay!I got sucked into getting a shellac manicure - probably the best one I've gotten ever. It lasted AND they actually did a legit manicure, not just file the nails and paint the stuff on. (Other places do that and it pisses me off: $25 on a manicure, can we get some lotion please? Especially when the UV lights dry the hell out of my hands.) I don't bother with manicures often, but when I do, they're shellac so they last - and this place has earned my fandom.The salon itself is clean and doesn't hit you in the face with acrylic nail stench, which is what annoys me about nail salons. This is a brand new business that is family owned and operated and is currently offering rock bottom prices for their excellent services!  I recently went in and got a gel manicure, eyebrow and upper lip waxing all for only $37 including taxes- that is amazing!  They are offering grand opening specials and discounts through January 30th 2014 so go on in and take advantage.  The manicure was great and she really took her time with me, and she was obviously an expert waxer- fast, efficient, meticulous.  I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.
