I usually don't have any issues at Sun, but left disappointed today. I had a great pedicure and, when it came time for my manicure, they gave my nail tech to someone who came in and they left me sitting in my chair waiting. After about 10 minutes I was escorted to the waiting area until another tech was available. After I was finally picked up by someone, she rushed through my manicure. A "regular" who they knew by name came in shortly after I was sat and no one was available for her. My cuticles were not properly cut and the top coat was poorly put on as it didn't reach the sides of all nails. As someone who only treats themselves to manicures when feeling stressed or in need of a pick me up, I'm sad to say that the end of my appointment ruined my time there today and I may not return again. One of the best nail salons in the area!! The employees take great pride in their work. They are knowledgeable about current techniques and make your nails look their best. Love this place, pedicures are always awesome no matter who you go to! I def recommend a spa pedicure here... It took me a long time to find a good nail place in Milford since we had recently moved here, and I'm very picky but was very happy to find this place. Rip off !  buyer beware.  Brought my daughter and her friend for a mani&pedi.  Had 2 gift certificates for the same.  The girls wanted gel manicures - I asked how much - first they said same price and I questioned that, then I thought they said $10 more...I asked for verification and they said yes $10!  I tried to pay upfront and they said no- must pay after.   The cost for 2 maincures (with gel polish) and 2 regular pedicures was $160!!!!!  It cost me an additional $53 above the gift certificates for the gel polish for both girls on their hands only!    Unbelievable and not what they told me when we walked in.  When I questioned him He told me a regular manicure is $12 and a gel manicure is $37!  Not what he told me when I asked when we first walked in.  Will not go back. They upsell you on everything and will insult your choice of nail color of you don't agree to the upsell of gel/French/design/ etc. They will cut you and then blame it on you for moving when it was he tech who was looking around while cutting your cuticles. They keep their prices hidden, especially for pedicures. They have regular pedicures but only have prices posted for upgraded ones. After $90 I left the salon with a giant hole taken out of my ring finger. Never again. Read Less

I read that the prior lady stated her price changed . Well I called asked for good old acrylic nails the guy said 30 dollars then he immediately said 35 then he said 37. (Swear to goodness couldnt believe it!!)Oh so it was 30 now 37? He says says "yeah" . Forget this place glad I didn't drive down. Seems like whatever money they are in need of they charge. $97 for a gel manicure and a pedicure for my daughter!!!!!  It infuriates my that they would up sell to a teenager whose mother is paying. She couldn't understand a word they were saying, so apparently she agreed to a bunch of stuff. You can't even relax here because they nag you to spend more money the entire time. Typically I only review places I enjoyed - but just be wary of this place. I've gotten my nails done numerous times before but this was the first time I went to Sun Nails. I just got a plain, simple manicure, and when she was cleaning up my nails/cuticles she snipped a little bit close to the skin of my middle finger, where the nail edge meets the skin. It kind of hurt, but I didn't think much of it.The next day I woke up and my middle finger tip - right where I had felt the cuticle clipping occur was red, and inflamed. I waited about 2 weeks, it never went away and got progressively worse. I had to get two rounds of antibiotics to clear whatever infection I had contracted, and it took two months to be completely normal.To be fair - the doctors said its a 50% chance I got the infection at the salon, but if I had contracted it later, it's due the cut/snip that happened at the salon.Never getting my nails done again - not worth the agony. From the moment you enter until you are helped as you leave there is a constant sense of pride in the service.Jennie, the owner, makes sure that everyone is well trained and is always monitoring herself to assure the quality is up to her standards.The staff works as a team with an eye on the customer experience. I believe I counted at least 8 towels used in my pedicure and they all seemed to disappear as they were used.If you do find a favorite manicurist it is wise to book an appointment.I have been coming here for years and on the rare occasion when I might try a salon closer to home I realize there is no comparison to the detailed craftsmanship found here. I have been here a few times for a gel mani cause I felt they lasted longer than other salons. Well , I said I wasn't coining back several times but I tried again and I won't be coming back anymore. They are rude the girl that did my daughters nails stood behind us and waited till we payed and we told her to stop rushing us! I've been a customer for almost 20 years and I'm sad to say I'm in search of a new place. The customer service has gone downhill. Even with a scheduled appointment I've had wait times up to 40 minutes because they won't turn down a walk in which causes anyone with an appointment to have to wait. They have recently increased all of their prices and have become very pushy with add-ons for example special manicures pedicures extra massages etc. I actually sat and listened to a negotiation between the owner and the customer and the customer got her price down from $65 down to $40. I am giving them 3 stars because they are very clean, friendly, and do a great job. That being said, it is overpriced and the workers are extremely pushy. I went in last year to get a regular pedicure with French ($7 extra) and an acrylic nail set before I went away to Europe. I was pushed into getting a "spa pedicure" which was $10 more. She did an OK job on my toes, they chipped a few days later (I was walking around quite a lot though in flip flops during the next few days).I sat down to get my acrylic nail set and the woman, who I could barely understand, pushed me into doing gel nail set. I saw the price (about $80) and agreed, knowing that the gel set was definitely better than the acrylic. I wanted regular polish, just white, over the nails. The woman then kept rambling on and on about gel something, and thinking she was talking about the gel nail set itself, I said yeah sure. Little did I know, she was asking if I wanted gel polish over the nail. She then proceeded to do French gel manicure over the nails without even asking me. She assumed since my toes were French, my nails should be too. The gel polish cost me an EXTRA $40. My nails did look phenomenal, but it was overly expensive, and I felt very uncomfortable since I was being manipulated. If you are looking to get your nails done for a special event and you can afford it, then yes definitely come here. If you are looking to get just something for day-to-day, go somewhere else. I'm amazed that this place has as many bad reviews as it does! I have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience! It's very clean (super important to me for nail places!) and John always does a great job. I've had other employees when John has been busy and they still did a great job...owner is very friendly and will remember clientele who haven't been there in months. i feel like I just walked out of a used car dealership. Booked a wedding party for $10 manicures: They talked individual party members into "add ons" without checking with me — the one paying the bill. One example, my sister's $35 manicure and pedicure came to $95. I have tried a few different nail salons in the area over the years & this is by far the best one I've found. The only time I've been treated better & had a nicer time is at an actual spa. All the staff are thorough & attentive. Once we had to wait a bit as walk-ins sometimes do & they were extremely apologetic giving each of us a free tube of hand lotion. I'll admit that sometimes it can be hard to understand/communicate with the entirely Asian staff, but I would not hesitate to recommend Sun Nails to anyone who would ask. Read Less

This is the worst nail salon I have ever been to. I paid for a spa pedicure (35) and found myself with cut up feet which were rougher than when I came in. My feet look terrible now and feel like sandpaper. When I complained to the owner, she did not offer to have anyone fix them, but instead put lotion on them (which, by the way did not help at all). They were very unapologetic about the problem as well. Despite all my troubles here, i thought i would at least get a nice shoulder massage. Turns out they dont massage your shoulders unless you pay 5 extra dollars. I would advise people to stay away from this nail salon as there are far better options in the area. Read Less

I have to say this place use to be my favorite. I have gone there for over 5 years however lately I was really disappointed. The place has gotten really dirty and 3 people (I know) including myself got a fungis! In all the years I have been getting my nails done (40) I have never gotten a fungis! I will not be going back! I completely disagree with the fisrt review. i have been going there since they opened in 1994 and i love it. Yes the prices are high but are well wirth it. I have gotten everything they have to offer done there and its always the best service. Y ou can walk in and still barely wait. I always get pedicures and they are not like they were described. They DO paint the whole nail and scrub your feet. They have a woman walking around who gives massages when your nails drying, nad they are all very nice. Jenny the owner is a nice woman and she walks around checking on everyone making sure every one is happy and everything is going right. I was recently in Sun Nails with a friend for pedicures. She had a gift certificte and got a Spa pedicure ---$35!! I just got a regular pedicure which was $25. Worst pedicure we've ever had!!!! Spent not even a minute with the foot file, I have just as much dead skin on my feet as I did when I went in. And the last time I checked, the point of a pedicure was to get rid of dead skin. Did not even paint the whole toe nail, rushed through the whole thing. Since when should a pedicure last for 13 minutes from start to finish? Even my friend who got a "better" one was extremely disappointed. Did not even use the razor on her foot. Only thing extra they did was wrap her legs in a towel for a while. The whole calus removal in the spa pedicure IS RIDICLOUS! She went home, took all the polish off and redid her pedicure herself. The owner is also very rude. She walks around like she's God's gift. The ONLY good thing about this place is the nail polish selection but that doesn't even matter when they don't paint your whole toe. TERRIBLE JOB! WILL NEVER GO BACK DO NOT RECOMMED IT TO ANYONE!
