Unfortunately, I went to Nail Expo 4 times (for the sake of convenience). My fourth visit was my final straw.
First off, The “owner”/ woman in charge is very rude. She is snappy, pushy and far from gentle when doing nails. When I attempted to inquire about colors/ styles she was very uninterested and kept saying “pick your color”. Like, excuse me mam id like to feel good about my $80 I’m spending with you for roughly 1 hour of your time.
My natural nails are severely damaged due to extreme usage of the power file over my top layer. I have bled both times she removed nails from my finger (the other two times were refils)and she also had the audacity to glue fake nails directly over my bloody nail beds. All they care about is getting you in and out & taking your money.
They are overpriced for the quality of service and atmosphere. It is always packed with long wait times and a lot of customers bring children to the salon. The ambiance is not relaxing at all. They really push the gel polish on you .. not only is the gel polish up charge the cost of the bottle itself, but it also will require more fees on your next visit for the removal of the polish. You will walk in thinking your manicure is $25-$30 and end up paying $60 after gel up charge, shaping fee, nail removal etc. lol
My main problem is the fact that I left with an infected toe from the last pedicure I received. The woman used the power filer to remove gel polish and filed my toenails so thin I was in pain and some toe nails were red and one bled. ON MY BLEEDING TOE I DEVELOPED AN INFECTION SHORTLY AFTER.
All they care about is getting you in and out & taking your money. To top off the lovely experience; at the register they make you feel obligated to leave a tip directly by asking you how much you will leave before swiping your card or giving you change. I think thats very unprofessional and puts pressure on the customer.
If you have standards do not go to NAIL EXPO.

I drove 5 minutes all the way to the salon and they were closed after I checked the site and it said they were open... their prices are very good, and have great quality service but I wasted time going all the way there for nothing and I had to pay Double what I usually pay at the mall.

I haven't been to a nail salon in quite some time, but I am going on a trip this weekend & decided last minute to get a manicure. I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon (5pm) and there was one other customer getting a pedicure. I asked for a gel manicure and was immediately attended to. The woman showed me where the choices were for gel polish and after I picked which ones I wanted she started right away. The process was fast, I spent a total of 45 min in the salon from the second I stepped inside to the time I walked out. I was happy that I didn't have to wait and that I wasn't there long, although I am aware that a Tuesday afternoon is not the busiest time for a nail salon. The woman who attended to me was nice and good at her job, both pluses in my book. There were 2 very minor issues that combined are the reasons I gave a 4 out of 5 stars. The first was the ambiance. The place did not seem like the cleanest of places; not so much that it was gross or dirty, just like it could have used a coat of paint and maybe some deep scrubbing. Something like that would have made the place more presentable, but I could just be a stickler for those sorts of things. The second thing was the finish on my nails. The very, absolute tip of my nails was not polished. Barely noticeable unless you are staring at my nails as I point out the spots. But it was enough for me to keep it in the back of my mind. It is a gel manicure & I have never had one before (I used to get acrylic nails years ago) so maybe they just end up that way. But nothing so serious that I wouldn't go back. I will just pay closer attention next time and see if it can be don differently. I paid $20 for the gel manicure, don't know if that is expensive but I didn't mind paying it. I will be back and see if the service/nail finish/ambiance changes at all.

This nail salon, like others in the area, is not concerned with cleanliness and sanitation. They reused all the same tools that they used on the previous person without cleaning them (except the obvious like cotton balls and paper towels). Makes me a little nervous that they aren't too concerned with sanitation. My nails came out okay, but at what risk? Go somewhere they clean better.

TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. The workers were rude. Speaking chinese probably about me for telling them i did NOT like the design and was unhappy with the way my nails were done. I would NEVER EVER EVER go back to this place, nor EVER recommend them to even my worst enemy. Total waste of money. JOB POORLY DONE!!!

THEY DO THE BEST EYEBROWS!! Their manicures are also excellent as well as their pedicures. They are a little expensive for their pink and white powder (which I love to get elsewhere) so I've never tried it, but I'm sure it's worth it. I live in Los Angeles now but whenever I come back to Meriden to visit for the Holidays I always come here and get my eyebrows and a mani-pedi. They are very friendly and never push you to get things you don't want. Sometimes the wait can be long or it can be very short, but you won't be waiting there all day. They have a TV to watch and some magazines you can read when you get your pedicure. They have a waiting area with a couch for if you bring a friend or like me, your dad. They have very nice massage pedicure chairs. All in all a great place to go. Prices may have gone up since my last visit but last time I was there, eyebrows were only $7. That's a bargain.

Unfortunately, I went to Nail Expo 4 times (for the sake of convenience). My fourth visit was my final straw.
First off, The “owner”/ woman in charge is very rude. She is snappy, pushy and far from gentle when doing nails. When I attempted to inquire about colors/ styles she was very uninterested and kept saying “pick your color”. They are a little expensive for their pink and white powder (which I love to get elsewhere) so I've never tried it, but I'm sure it's worth it.
