This was my second time visiting. Both times were gifts. I think the spa facility is beautiful and certainly inviting and warm. We were attended to immediately and headed right away to be serviced. I will say, this visit was different... The technicians were very nice and seemed to enjoy our conversation but I have to say, I was not impressed AT ALL with the the time saver pedicure. I realize that it is a "time saver" but the quality could have been better especially for the price. One toe nail was clipped though a few could have used a trim, my nails were not cleaned underneath and no filing of our heels. I am sorry but you can go to a small shop anywhere and get all that pampering for a lot less and in the same amount of time. I expected at least the filing. Our nails were painted and then we were off to our cream manicures, which was pretty much what I expected except for my tech missing corners on almost all my nails. I was surprised by that, to say the least and asked for them to be fixed (along with 2 nails I messed up). When I told tech she seemed annoyed and said she will fix them and points out how lucky I was that she had no one after me. That statement bothered me and I felt did not really have a place in our conversation as some of the "repairs" were her doing. Anyways, my nails were fixed and even though I noticed some nails still in need of polish along the edges, I said nothing. I couldn't help but feel that I was being annoying and rushed out so that they could see more clients. The rest of our time was wonderful. We used the steam room and the pool. I love that you can make a day of it considering it is the one of the closest location a (1hour) to us. Once we were all done, it was time to pay. We had left our certificates up front and went up to cash out. This I thought went well but I realize after that maybe it was not...From what my boyfriend says he paid for the gifts and 20% gratuity as well but another gratuity was taken out at cash out from our gifts certificates. So, not only do I feel like the services were overpaid for the quality but on top of that, a double tip! Wow! If someone pays for gratuity as a package, shouldn't that show up while checking out? We could have used the extra gratuity taken out towards another service or maybe products there (which was not suggested). Once I looked at my overall experience, I could only give Red Door 3 stars. The facility itself and staff interactions are great but I would have liked and enjoyed a more detailed and precise service considering the amount of money paid. I somewhat enjoyed the experience at the Red Door, this is due to the nail polish that "supposedly" lasts 4-6 weeks has started to peel off of my toes. Some of the concierge are lacking any type of communication skills, when trying to order lunch I was first told that I had to have a credit card to give before making an order. I then made an order and waited for the food, the waiter told us that we didn't need a card until after he brings the food. How confusing is that? while trying to relax, the concierge came into the "relaxing" room and made so much noise, cleaning and talking and taking out the trash. I understand that keeping up appearances is important, but it's not smart to do it while there are guests around. the salon ladies were very nice, and I enjoyed their wonderful skills. however, the rest of the experience was muddled and I found myself to be rather un-relaxing. From the first tour of the spa through a delicious lunch, I felt pampered and cared for. Each service was more than advertised and the professionals really took the time to not only explain, but make sure I understood what was happening. I am spoiled for life thanks for The Red Door Salon and Spa in Mystic. My incredible boyfriend sent 2 of my friends and I there for a spa day on my birthday, and I seriously had the time of my life. We had two services, the Red Door Signature Massage and the Triple Rose body wrap...if you were wondering, I smell amazing. In all seriousness, this spa is top notch and the service is incredible.  Kathleen was my therapist and she herself deserves 5 stars! She made sure I was always comfortable and warm during the body wrap and massage, explained all the main ingredients of the products she was using, and expertly knew which products (when combined) create the best scents, which I appreciated. The triple rose wrap starts with an exfoliation process using ground up olive pits, you then take a shower and your skin is really soft - but about to get a lot softer. After that, they apply an oil based product that smells delicious, and you are wrapped in some combination of foil and plastic blankets while your skin soaks it in. You stay in the wrap for about 15-20 minutes, and during that time, the therapist massages either your scalp or feet. I chose the scalp option, which she said was good for people with headaches or sinus issues. The massage was so relaxing. Kathleen mentioned she typically applies medium to relaxing pressure, and that if she finds any problem spots she tries to work them out with firmer pressure.  She definitely helped with some tightness around my neck and shoulders and even gave me some posture exercises to think about while I am driving because I told her I hunch over the steering wheel. After the services were complete, my friends and I hung out in the relaxation room. You can order drinks through the hotel bar there if you are interested in that, or you have the option to do a spa style lunch. There is also a pool/hot tub for you to use but we opted not to since we smelled so good from the triple rose wrap, and didn't want to ruin it with that chlorine smell. My husband and I went for a couples massage while on our honeymoon. I've never had a massage before and he only had one before, which he said wasn't a comfortable experience. We both absolutely loved the massages at Red Door! Lisa and Melissa were fabulous, making sure we were comfortable throughout the massage. It was so relaxing we both almost fell asleep! Everyone was extremely welcoming and professional and the locker rooms, relaxation area and massage rooms were kept clean and tidy. We will definitely come back if we are in the area again! I went here twice last week, Friday for a gel manicure and Saturday for a facial. The gel manicure is the only reason I am giving 3 stars. It has only been 5 days but there are already air bubbles popping up along the edges and the white tip of the French is already looking tired. The gel manicures are supposed to last 14 days, not the same amount of time as a normal manicure. Definitely not worth the price. The facial was fantastic and I would return for this service. Luxurious Spa! Catered to from the second I walked in the door to the moment I walked out. I treated myself and a friend for her birthday and the exsperience was pampering and relaxing. And with use of the relaxation room, showers, steam room and even the hotel pool and hot tub for the whole day as well, I couldn't ask for more. Tried to by a gift certificate and was told, over the phone, that for a certificate for $300 one would get back $100 to use for services or products at the Spa.  So I bought it for my wife and booked an appointment for a haircut.  I asked to have a receipt e-mailed to me.  They said sure.  The next day, having not received the receipt, I contacted them and asked for confirmation of the deal.  Disappointingly, I was told I had been misinformed the day before, and that a certificate of $350 was needed to get $100 back. No effort was made to reconcile the mistake. I wound up canceling and booking at another Spa in the area. Bad business practice! Read Less

The location is in a hotel. The pool and hot tub area is very tired and worn looking. The facial I received was definitely among one of the poorest I have had --ever.  Tech talked nonstop about her personal life and did about 15 min of facial, shuffled paper work for 10 min while I had eye mask on and then finished up with a brief hand massage.  I will NOT ever go back... or recommend to anyone. I really needed to relax so I decided to book an appointment at The Red Door for a massage. I browsed the different options online and decided to go with an 80 minute Swedish massage. (I love the booking website as well- it is extremely user friendly!) I checked in at the desk, and was shown to the back where the relaxation room and the changing rooms are. It was VERY clean and I really enjoyed how thick and comfy the robe was! I waited in the relaxation room for my appointment and had an iced water, but there was a nice selection of k-cups available as well as fruit and some Biscoff cookies. I had Leito as my masseuse and he picked me up from the room and escorted me back to the massage room. It was by far the best massage I have ever had, and I will certainly request Leito any time I return- he is fantastic! I was able to quickly and easily check out after a quick shower and getting changed in the changing room. Overall, it was a great experience and I can't wait to come back! Deep Tissue - Sports MassageAs an active 20-something yr old. (Pretty vigorous exercise 4-5 x per week) I have been looking for a solid masseuse to see semi-regularly (once every 1-2 months for 50min or 80min sessions). I run, yoga, bike, hike, CrossFit, and Olympic weight-lift. With that being said, I have found a great spot local to me at Red Door Spa. I recommend seeing Jasmine, she is what makes the experience above and beyond. She has skills. I don't necessarily care about using the amenities, which are really nice. What I care about is the steam room (clean and nice) and the actually work being done to rejuvenate my body.I have been to a few local places where the prices were less and so was the experience. What a terrific experience. I didn't have much time so I booked a quick massage, literally 25 minutes followed by a makeup touch up.My masseuse was Kenneth and he was terrific. He concentrated on my ne k and lower back just as I asked and even though it was only 25 minutes it felt like an hour. He was terrific.EMILY did my makeup and did it just as I asked. I got a great package -- massage, facial, mani-pedi & complimentary make-up refresh.  The massage and facial were definitely first-class - really terrific experience.  I was a little disappointed that the mani-pedi services were the same quality (if not a little less) than what I get at the mall, so I don't think those are worth the higher price.  The lounge and ladies locker room area were really nice and clean.  I enjoyed relaxing between services in a nice, comfy robe listening to relaxing music.  Next time, I think I'll just go with the massage and facial -- those were EXCELLENT and well worth the price. Best massage of my life by Rebecca. It was very expensive but worth it! Reason for 3 stars is very disappointed that I went for a spa day and the hot tub was broken AND the spa/steam room was also broken :( so I was bummed that my spa day wasn't a spa day and just a massage. Wished they could have offered something off the price of my service since I did not receive all the amenities. NOTE: this is not operated my Marriott so you will not receive double points even through it is in the Marriott and one of the reasons I went. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind. Read Less

The hot stone massage with Holly was wonderful-- she's very meticulous and careful not to apply too much or too little pressure.I had a haircut, shampoo, and finish with Sarah, too; I came in with a very specific vision of what I wanted, and she delivered it perfectly. The atmosphere at the Red Door Spa is lovely, but to be honest, the quality of the manicure I received for my wedding was just okay & didn't last more than a few days after my wedding despite being shellac (overall less than a week before peeling). They actually had to re-do my manicure due to a new manicurist not doing the first one very well, but were very accommodating & apologetic for the issue, which I absolutely appreciated.Overall...if you're in the area & are looking to get your  nails and/or your bridal party's nails done for your wedding, I would recommend checking out Nail Spa II instead - it isn't quite as fancy but their nail job is a lot better, in my opinion, and they do some hot stone massage stuff as well as paraffin on your  hands. Went for couples massage  and both therapist were great. The female dressing area was fairly clean but needs to be better kept. The men's dressing area was beyond disgusting. Towels, glasses, shave cream and robes every where you turned. Both steam rooms had very little steam. The relaxation room had glasses, stains on chairs and cobwebs/dirt in the corners of the room. Upon leaving was asked how it was but staff never asked why it was just ok. When in for massage  there was a drain vent right under my head as I was looking at it you could smell the drain. Nasty! Went here with my sister for her 30th birthday, the place is very nice and everyone was personable and polite. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the work for the price I paid and the amount of time I was there. I got an hour long facial that felt great but left my face bright red and the next day my face was so dry it was painful. A week later and my face is still much dryer than it should be or ever was before this facial. I also got a mani and pedi and there were spots that were missed and the nail polish did not stay on for more than 12 hours on both my hands and feet. Lastly I got my eyebrows and lip done which was fine but I never expected it to cost $60 for a simple wax! I will not be returning, it is far too expensive for the poor quality. Read Less

I was over the moon with my services here. I was staying at the hotel for a dear friend's wedding and decided to have my hair and make-up done for the big event.I am always wary to have someone else do my make-up, but I was impressed with the make-up artists attentiveness and skill.  She knew the exact look I was going for and delivered.  She even answered a few silly make-up questions I had and shared tips with me.The hair stylist who did my hair was kind, funny, and VERY good at her job.  She fixed my hair perfectly. It was very windy at the wedding and though my hair was a looser look never lost its shape!The only issue I had with my time here was that my appointments began 30 min late which left me with 7 minutes to dash to my room and get changed for the event - I almost didn't make the wedding shuttle! I had specifically discussed my timeline with them when I booked to make sure I would have enough time. I'm not sure what caused the delay. that is why I went down to 4 stars rather than 5. You're really paying for the name here. The services aren't any better than what you'd find at another spa but the prices are significantly higher. They do provide you with amenities such as beverages, snacks, robes, and use of the suana but that doesn't justifiy the cost. It's nice to go to on a special occasion but I wouldn't recommend it as your regular spa. Read Less
