I’m a real life Dora the explorer and I’ll try anything once. Let me just say I was in the area and after yesterday manicure and pedicure experience with my best friend who just received her tech license, I needed a redo.. like pronto! Found this place on google search and love the name and decided what the heck. I walk in with no appointment, was friendly greeted. I waited no longer than ekkk 5mins the most which isn’t bad for a Friday afternoon. Had “Lily” which I was randomly paired with. She beautifully re-shaped, buffed and repainted my toenails. She gently removed the less than 24 hrs gel polish on my fingernails, cut it down like I requested, perfectly reshaped it, repolished it and I couldn’t have been more happy and please on the out come. I requested her name on the business card so when I am back in the area I could have her do my nails again. Btw she offered me a neck message which I kindly declined but her hand massage.... heaven! Lily is very good at painting as I can tell by the technique she was using while painting my toenails, yes I am a gweeker lol and she give great hand massages with prefect pressure. Just FYI I am an experienced OCD nail customer with 20 years of getting my nails done faithfully (1week polish change- 2 week pedicure and fill/gel polish). I don’t understand how their pricing work even though they had it up but I didn’t care much for what it cost, I usually look to spend $100.00 with tipping in a nail shop. I spent $38 for a gel manicure and toenails polish change and tipped her $20. A wonderful experience! I would absolutely visit again and have Lily do my gel manicure and possibly try a pedicure. Just had my acrylics taken off here and trust me dont waste your hard earned money here. I was gonna do them myself but I wanted to get them buffed and cleaned up and well I guess I should of done it at home. She was rushed the ENTIRE time and they came out terrible. Lesson learned Read Less

Unfortunately my first experience there for a pedicure with Joyce was terrible. From the moment she walked up to the chair she was angry. The entire 30 minutes was a rushed event. Pedicures are to be enjoyed. This was not the case. If you go please ask for someone different. Read Less

If you want to get treated like crap this is the place. I got poked and prodded with a nail file.... since there is a language barrier I guess, that's how they communicated to me to move my hands or not....get up to rinse, etc.  Also felt like a bother. No customer skills. Hygienic no no with powder nails is putting everyone's nails in the same powder jar, not using new files and clean equipment, they didn't even wash the table I was sitting at. So I tried this place twice after seeing some awesome yelp reviews and their large ANC color selection. The first time I went the man who did my nails was SO rude. He kept laughing at me for not understanding what his hand gestures meant. I forgot that I could only tip in cash and only had $4 I gave it to him and he looked at me disgusted and made an "uff" noise. REALLY after barely cleaning my cuticles and being rough you shouldn't have even gotten a tip! Next time I went the woman was so rude and rough with my nails. She gave my 10seconds to choose a color. Would not adjust the water temp for mypedicure. Getting ANC is different and I wasn't used it to yet. I left in almost tears b/c she made me feel that uncomfortable especially since their was a HUGE language barrier. The atmosphere was not relaxing at all. I just had a pedicure done by Adam and he is amazing when I tell you he took his time and made sure my poor little neglected piggies got all the attention they needed. 15 min. leg and foot massage, the dead skin from my rough heels literally peeled off. the attention to detail and even a shoulder massage while I waited for my toes to dry!!! Yas!!! I was in heaven I will be back and highly recommend them (especially Adam!) to anybody. they were clean and the environment was super relaxing!!! This is my favorite nail salon. They have a very nice, comfortable salon and a discount card for a percentage off after a number of appointments. The manis & pedis are very well done with hot towel massage afterwards ... always a great way to end the day  The staff are also very courteous & accommodating. I took my daughter & granddaughter for a mother's day out and they put little flowers on my granddaughter's nails at no extra charge. A+ salon in my opinion! Read Less

My favorite place to get pedis an nails done. The only place I've found with a great selection of ANC colors and they do an excellent job. I've been going for a few months and i make the drive from Waterford over to Groton just for this salon. I've tried several places in my local area and they don't compare. I've also had several different people do my toes an nails and every time I'm pleased with the service. It is busy but even with all chairs filler they've gotten me in without much wait. Nothing amazing ,but nothing horrible. I went in since so many ladies rave about this place. Waking in it's very clean, has a nice Asian vibe (music very massage parlor) I like it made the atmosphere very inviting. Walking in you can tell their most popular service is mani and pedis. My nail technician was Joe, he was very friendly. I asked for acrylic nail set nothing to extravagant he was very quiet no talk which I didn't mind one thing I didn't like was the lack of hygiene while he was doing my nails, he dip anc powder from the original jar (Big NO) I also noticed he was trying to rush putting in my nails because the other customers were waiting. Good thing is they give you a little back/neck massage towards the end. I'd go back because it's affordable $35 plus tip .The nails are ok they're nothing to hype or rave. This salon is mostly for gel nails and geared towards short nails or  mani pedis. One of the better salons in the area I agree. Read Less

Fast service. Nail technician noticed my nails were thin and offered me an alternative to standard acrylic nails... The technician did an amazing beautiful job on my nails!!! While my nails were drying, I got an amazing hot tile back massage and then hand massage, all for a very affordable price and very professional service. 5 Stars!!!!! Read Less

Today I had my nails professionally done for the first time in my life. I had this powder gel polish. I took my daughter and she got acrylic nails with the powder polish on top. I loved everything about my experience. I called ahead to see if I needed an appointment, they do take walk-ins, but I made an appointment since I was on the phone already. I got a card with the date and what service I received written on the back and after so many visits you get a discount. If you pay cash you get a discount also. I have had 2 of the ANH powder manicures now and I highly recommend them. They last much longer than the traditional gel and don't damage your natural nails.  My first I waited 4 weeks before returning and if it weren't for the growth I could have waited longer (3 weeks is the recommended). I am into week 2 now of the second and they are like new. No more drying time or light treatment either! BUT...most important is the quality of the service and the staff. Patrons are treated with respect and consideration. The first time I was an unknown walk in and the second I called about 15 minutes ahead. Both  my stylists were superior to others I have had over a period of 10 years+ in both their ability and consideration. They used utmost care in all they did. The spa is extremely clean as is the dress and demeanor of the workers. Prices are reasonable, too!So.. if you are looking for an excellent nail spa, you must try Mermaid Spa. Read Less

Been here twice now and both times were great. I got an ANC manicure both times (first with tips, second without) and they do an amazing job. Very good at keeping your nails the same shapes and lengths. And the ANC lasted me well over a month without chipping. The little massage you receive after your nails are finished adds to the experience and is so relaxing with the hot towel. Very clean and sanitary and would recommend it to everyone. First time I went here it was horrible. However, the change of management has done wonders. I'm so glad my friend convinced me to give it another try. They do great work and do their bed to get everyone in a timely fashion. They are also friendly and don't make you feel like an inconvenience when you ask for something a little different. I've gone back twice now since change of management and I will be going back again in about 3 weeks. They are clean, friendly, and throw in a few extras like simple quick massages. Price is good too. Mermaid Nails and Spa is the ONLY place in the area to get your nails done! I wondered in one day 2 months ago after my old salon of 2 years had made an appointment with me and didn't keep it! They weren't even open that day! They never even called to cancel! Oh well, their loss was Mermaids gain. I met Joey that day. She made me and still makes me feel special. From the time I walk into the salon until the time I leave I feel pampered! She remembers me and makes me feel like I'm not just a number. She is friendly and personable and does a very professional job on my nails. I get the UV gel and it lasts a month for me. I also have 2 herniated discs in my neck and the hot towel and shoulder massage she gives is superb!! Appointments are easy to get I have found. The rest of the staff I have noticed are equally friendly and professional as well. The place is clean and they play the most relaxing music. I find when my time is up I don't want to leave! Lol. The best nail salon in Groton!! I have gone to a couple of different ones (including the 'renowned' Cedar Nail Spa), and seriously this is the BEST nail salon in the area. I get the ANC (a step up from the gel nails and MUCH better, I was able to keep it on my nails for 6 1/2 weeks!!) for my nails and a pedicure every time, and my nine year old daughter gets a gel manicure (that lasts almost two weeks on a child's hand, a child who is very much a tom boy and uses her hands all the time) and pedicure and we have a wonderful time together. They are so pleasant and give us an amazing hot towel massage after they are done with our nails. Love them!! Read Less

I loved this place! I've had many bad nail salon experiences so a place has to be truly great for me to like them. I came in for removal of an old gel manicure and to get a new one on my natural nails. At first I was skeptical because they do not soak your nails prior to a manicure, but I was pleasantly surprised. Tony was my manicurist and he did an awesome job; very thorough and he made sure to get gel polish on the front edge of my nail as to prevent chipping. He trimmed my cuticles, but not too much (I've had issues with that elsewhere). They give you a back and hand massage after your manicure too. Prices are affordable plus, they put coupons out in the mail and offer a 10% military discount which I love. I will definitely be coming back. This is now my go to nail salon! Read Less

I went here last week to get a gel nail manicure. It looked a little sketchy but had good reviews. The manicure was horrible. They don't soak your nails, barely trim your cuticles and it was painful. Also tools did not look clean. With in 2 days the end of my nails looked scuffed or dirty and it wouldn't go away. I realized the polish was already wearing off!! All of my other gel manicures at every other shop I have tried have stayed beautiful for at least 2 weeks. I feel like I just threw my money in the trash! This place is wonderful! Clean, fast, friendly, and above all: my manicure is great! The prices are very reasonable and they have a 30% discount going on right now for all services. Seven, my manicurist, was great. I received a hot neck pillow, a 3 minute hot towel massage, lotion and arm massage followed by a hot towel rub down. Great customer service and price.
