This place is horrible for gel pedicures. Super expensive! I paid $52 and the gel peeled the next morning I went back and the manager gave me a gift certificate of $17. What a joke , I don't live here so I won't be going back. I have had many pedicures and never felt like a number. The clients were herded in and out like cattle- less that 15 minutes in the chair. I was not impressed by the garbage bag massage I received at the end either- very tacky on my skin and not relaxing. Love this nail salon!! Most nail salons are full of fumes and only offer toxic heavy options. Not true here! They make an effort to offer non toxic options, and they also do a great job. I'm hard on my nails and my basic mani / pedi with non- toxic polish lasted almost 2 weeks. The price is fair for a pedicure, however, they don't tell you the cost for extras like the $10 additional my daughter was charged for a few extra minutes of leg massage, And I have a bruise from the elbow used on a ten minute neck massage. I got a gift certificate to this salon for Christmas. The place was clean, and the staff was nice enough. I asked for a chrome manicure. What I got was sparkly silver nails; pretty enough but not a mirror-like finish that I was hoping for. Six hours later I got home and took a shower and the polish just started peeling off. I hate leaving a bad review but it just seems a shame to waste that much time and money (and to think it was a gift). I won't be going back. Read Less

First time at this salon. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Shop was pretty and clean. I got a gel manicure. My only complaint was that I felt the manicurist rushed. From the time I picked my color to the time I paid was 17 minutes. No one was waiting. I've gotten gel manicures from may different places and that was the quickest ever. I've been here for a few pedicures and gel manicures. They are excellent! They have so many gel colors and regular colors. The staff are incredibly kind and put a lot of effort into services. Every massage I've had with my spa pedicure has been a real massage--not just rubbing back and forth. They also use liners for the pedicures and it's super clean. Best in East Lyme! Read Less

About what I expected for a $30 pedicure. Seemed fairly clean, pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon, which was surprising. Another customer was furious about something they had messed up when I walked it, which may have colored my experience. I liked that they used separate liners in the foot baths, but was a little thrown when they put a hot towel in a plastic bag on my back and started pounding on me while I was waiting for my nails to dry. We took our mom here for a late mother's day pedicure treat on a Monday afternoon. We were fortunate there were several technicians available so we could enjoy the pampering at the same time. While $30 is a little above average for a basic pedicure with a color, we really enjoyed Niantic Nail Salon. We appreciate how they line the foot tubs with plastic so it feels more sanitary than a shared tub. Second the technicians were all really amazing, especially at the foot massage. The salon is bright and clean and also quiet and relaxing. It was exactly what we were hoping for. This will likely be our salon of choice anytime we are together and looking for a relaxing pedicure. I went in for a gel manicure and sea clay pedicure. The girl that did my nails was not allowed to turn on the jet machine in the tub due to the health department orders. She never put on the sea clay. Also I had told them that I wanted the $25.00 special they had running on each the manicure and pedicure. I was charged $25.00 for 1 and $30.00 for the other. I go to relax and by not being able to have the water jet help soothe my feet I will have to find another place to go. Not happy Read Less

I had one of my all-time favorite pedicures here last week while on vacation.  The service was lovely, massage excellent (with a hot-stone shoulder massage during drying as a free extra), and polish applied impeccably.  I especially appreciated that they present you with a printed menu of services with prices so there is no "misunderstanding" as I've experienced at some salons where you end up paying for a more costly vesion of a pedicure than you thought you had selected.  Prices start at a very reasonable $20 for a basic pedicure, with add-ons at five or eight dollars each.  Once I had selected a very modest pair of services I was not pressured at all to add on, which I appreciated.Technicians all seemed to take the customer's lead as far as interaction; I prefer to read quietly during my pedicure and was left undisturbed to do so.  The customer next to me is a chatty sort, and her technician seemed just as happy to converse throughout.Over all a completely positive experience.  I will definitely be back! I don't usually get my nails done, but I decided to go to Niantic Nail Spa as a treat. I saw a young man named Andy, and I am very glad that I did! I was nervous coming in, but he did an excellent job on my nails, and was quite professional and welcoming. Came in for mani and pedi today. I even dragged my husband with me and talked him into his first pedicure. Well, he's hooked just as I am. We are new to the area and we will definitely be back. Very clean. Staff is so kind. The prices are very reasonable and the massage chairs are heavenly. I am a hairdresser and know online reviews can make or break you. First off the male manager puts down other salons in the area, he talks to everyone about the products they use and literally shows you how expensive they are, which I found off putting. As I was getting a manicure I asked if they would soak my cuticles, since it seemed that step was going to be skipped over. The male manager started yelling at the woman doing my manicure and made a different woman step in to finish. Both manicurist seemed horrified  by the male manager, I simply asked to soak my cuticles, there was nothing wrong with the woman who was doing my manicure originally. When new customers came in my original manicurist went to help them and the male manager yelled at her and would not let her wait on customers. I felt so bad  for the people that work there! My daughter and I just had our first visit to Niantic Nail spa. I have to say I really liked the atmosphere and decor. I was VERY pleased with the wide selection of polish colors they have to offer!! I was also reassured when I saw they only use their instruments once on one patron then they are sanitized and sealed. Not re-used like the last place I went. The ONLY thing I think I'm not completely happy with is they only use two coats of shellac rather than three. My nails ...don't feel as strong and thick as they did when I had previous visits to my prior nail salon and the color could be just a bit more solid. At the other salon they alternated clear coat and color three times which left me feeling like my nails were really strong. Perhaps the folks at Niantic Nails might be open to doing it that way for me next time if I ask? I also felt like things were a tad rushed, not as relaxing as I anticipated. Stopped in yesterday while visiting my in-laws in Niantic. The salon was very clean. The staff very friendly. I felt very relaxed watching the TV show videos of fish. Relaxing music, as well. I will not be back. I never experienced anything like this: the technician didn’t know what to do with my nails. I do understand that CT doesn’t require any license or training for manicure and pedicure, but brining someone just from the street and asking them to perform a treatment it just too stupid for the management. I felt really bad for the guy – he was trying, but honestly, my 10 year old daughter was better with a nail file. This is the sister location to the Nail Spa II in Waterford. I prefer this location as it is in quaint Niantic and everything in the store is brand new. The review below was written for Nail Spa II but holds true for this location as well. Incredible pedicures! Easily one of the best pedicures I've ever had - they soak, exfoliate, paraffin and massage your toes and leg with just the base pedicure for *I think* $30. I highly recommend paying the additional $10 to have your heels softened and receive additional exfoliation and massage therapies. The $30 pedi takes about 30 to 45 minutes and the $40 one can last past an hour. The hot rock shoulder rub while your tootsies dry truly completes the spa -like experience. The staff is friendly and considerate. The only reason why this is a 4 star review vs. a 5 star is because their manicures (while good) aren't of the same quality as the pedicure. They don't soak your hands prior to the cuticle clean-up. I can say as I look at my nails 2 days later it doesn't leave the cleanest look. Otherwise, the mani is very standard to what you would receive at other nail salons. For me, I'll stick with the pedi here - it is definitely worth the time and money. So insanely relaxing! Read Less
