I've been going to Ty for the past few months and I absolutely love her & the girls there, they all take pride in their work and I love that. You all take your time and treat your customers like family, I've been to dozens of different nail techs since I was 14 but NO ONE compares to you girls, so kind, sweet and patient. I just wanna put this out their but if your ever looking to get your nails done please go see Ty's Nail Candy in Branford they are by far the most down to earth place. the staff alone is amazing. And they take their time , are very clean and really care about what you want for your nails etc I enjoy every time I've gone to get mine done on several occasions and I come out very happy every single time. Not once have I've been not happy with my set. I really like this nail place -- I just moved to the New Haven area so was looking for my nail spot. Ive been here once, about 2 mths ago, and the gel manicure was great. I noted the work they were doing on others and they are really talented ie doing tip designs even 3d and acrylic specialty work. Some say it is pricey but the prices are normal/fair in my opinion for the quality and specialization work. You need to expect tips, often acrylic, that take around 1.5hrs with that kind of detail to run you in the $75 range (or maybe im used to that coming from nyc). I would definitely advise making an appointment and best to do this atleast a day ahead of your intended visit. Also, I had my eyebrows waxed by Felicia and they came out perfect. I had not read reviews contrary to this prior to my visit so didnt have any preconceived notions and was very satisfied with the wax. I am used to upscale salons in NYC and would place TYs on a comparable basis in terms of talent with a better value in my opinion. The staff is overall friendly and the environment is welcoming. I have an appointment for specialty tip work tomorrow so will be sure to update if my experience is anything but 5 star when it comes to getting this type of work done. :) Read Less

Don't let Felicia do your eyebrows, sweet girl but has no idea what she's doing. Asked her three times to fix them and she made them worse, leaving hair without being waved and wax all over my eyelids. My sister also had a poor experience. Read Less

Pretty upset overall with my experience. They used the drill file to remove my gel polish and they didn't push back my cuticles, my shellac manicure was messy and smudged the minute I got home! Ive been getting my nails done with Ty since before she opened the shop. My nails were so carefully done and they looked so stunning! Now that the shop has opened, the "wow factor" has gone down dramatically. She doesnt do many of the services she used to because shes gotten so busy i.e. free hand 3d designs. Check out my Yoshi nails. On top of that shes messing up her scheduling repeatedly, and although i was nice abt it, she gave me attitude yelling "we only booked one pedi...cure!” Yeah they're pretty, but for how long (full sets)? I have nails lifting up as early as the very next week. Not just 1, but 2 or 3. I could see if i was negligent and they broke but no. What's the use of having pretty nails if they don't last but a week? And i swear to you this never used to happen. But honestly they r cute n I would come back but the icing on the cake is that attitude. She slams materials down, she huffs n puffs as I'm trying to decide when the next time I come in is, I even caught her looking at me crazy one time I was sitting with my sis while she was getting a pedicure for prom. Ive been polite about it. I always tip her a good job. I even reached out to her and i thought we squashed it. But I came to the shop n once again she was snorting, huffing and puffing and slamming materials. After two of my nails lifted and took 1/2 of my nail with them i know im done. And how can you been a glass of wine  Two of my nails chipped which happened but were fixed right away with no appointment. Also had my brows done and love the way they look. So gives Ty's a chance! And to my absolute surprise, I received one of, if not the best, nail service I have ever received in my life. Ty is very personable, professional, and talented. I totally understand why walk in is not normal. She dedicates her time to you, during your appointment.. none of the yacking on the phone, or someone else starts you and she finishes you, or even the rude conversations in other languages.I have been there a few times and the other technicians are just as personable, talented and professional.. (FYI - I witnessed a client presenting one of the technicians with a Christmas present.. How sweet.)The décor is clean, fresh and new. You feel just like your nails look when you are done... A friend of mine was a client of Ty's and recommended her to me every time I had a terrible experience at my usual salon. I finally went to see her and I will not go anywhere else. She is sweet and friendly and she cares about her clients and employees. She is incredibly talented and has many skills that other nail techs simply don't due to her experiences learning her trade in Puerto Rico. I get the most incredible manicures and i get compliments constantly. I tell everyone who asks to go see my tech, Ty and her girls! this place is amazing !!I went for a pedicure and the owner Ty did the pedicure, she gave me a full 60 minutes.!! Wow!!I loved the various lotions and oils she used.She was very kind, friendly and unbelievably meticulous!  I was thinking of doing a gradient but changed my mind, after seeing it on my toes (not a good look, not enough nail space) but  she gracefully changed it for me! Words can not express how amazing Ty is. I have been going to her since 2009 and it is unlike any other nail experience. I live in Hamden and you better believe that I will take the extra 15- 30 minute drive (while passing a multitude of other nail shops) to go to Ty.
