Absolute best salon in Denver and surrounding areas. Ive been going here for years and still can’t find any place better. I live pretty far from the salon now, so tried other places closer to me. I tripped and fell into this salon after my previous nail lady cancelled my appointment and refused to reschedule it until a month later (Ummm 8 weeks before a rebase, no thank you!). A friend suggested we try this place and I was absolutely up for it since it has such good reviews and such a high rating. We made an appointment for 3 of us a couple weeks before. One of us, Natalee, ended up having to take an earlier flight out of town and couldn’t make her appointment so she called the day prior to cancel and specifically say that the other two would be there. I was with her when she canceled her own appointment. I arrived at the salon only to be informed that they no longer had my appointment in the books, only my friend Cassidy. Which I thought was odd because I had definitely not canceled my appointment. They informed me they had an opening but I couldn’t get both the deluxe gel manicure and pedicure as I had requested. They informed me that there was availability later in the day for both me and my friend Cassidy so we moved our appointments. There was no apology for the mistake. We arrived at the salon at 2:50, appointment being at 3, and I left the salon at 6:40. They had put us with a very new tech. Although she was sweet there was a lack of skill there that you’d expect from the salon (as seen through others work as posted on yelp and google). I also find it strange that after they canceled my appointment (without being told or notification) that they didn’t put us with someone who would impress and make up for the mistake. They had also forgot to put me down for gel on my toes, meaning there wasn’t enough time slotted and I got normal polish. I got gel polish on my nails. I’ve been getting gel on my nails for over a year now because I like that it strengthens my nails and prevents them from breaking easily. I also know, through experience, that gel is resilient and doesn’t scratch or flake easily. It took 1 hour to do a simple design on 2 of my fingers. The next day both my friend and I have bubbles and wrinkles in the polish. I work as a receptionist and do not put myself in situations that could even begin to scratch or peel the polish. The tech, as mentioned, was very nice and said any issues in the next 2 weeks and I can come back to the salon to fix the polish but honestly I’m not prepared to spend another 2 hours getting a polish fix. It’s ridiculous to me that it took 3.5 hours for a manicure and pedicure. I Will not be visiting this salon again in the future. Read Less

Great customer service from the moment I walked in I was greeted and offered a refreshment. I had to take my 2 kids with me 4 and 7 and they had iPads for the kids to keep busy. That was a nice added touch. I loved my hair cut that Chelle gave me. She cut off about 9 inches and gave me a dramatic change, She know exactly how to cut my thick straight hair. I wasn’t to fond of my eyebrows I did have to go back home and finish tweezing my brows. The salon was clean and all the workers kept busy when they didn’t have a clients to serve. One person was wiping down the plants around the counter. When it was time to pay the they noticed my birthday was the next day was my birthday so she gave me a $10 discount. Upon entering the salon, it’s a very inviting atmosphere, everyone smiles or greets you. The person behind the counter offers you a beverage while you wait. Open floor plan, where the barber & stylists are to the left, to the right is where all the nail and pedicures are done. Never had better hair or nails done anywhere. I got a gel mani and regular pedi, and the gel mani was with artwork. It was the hands down best mani I've ever had in my life. She said if she had more time and wasn't booked after me she could've done way more intricate work, but I can't imagine more art. I've gotten about 500 compliments each on the nails, and also hair. I came back 2 days later to get my hair braided, forget the lady's name but it started with an R, she did in...side out Dutch braids, and they lasted an entire 3-day festival, and they continued looking so good, I kept them for 9 days until I was dying for a shampoo. I've never gone more than 2-3 days without shampooing but these braids were like artwork and I couldn't bear to remove them. Again, totally fair price. I also brought my friend there who is extremely picky and critiques everything, expecting her to complain about her hairstyle like she does at every salon I've ever gone to with her, and she was impressed and talked about how much she loved her hair all week. I just moved to Denver and was looking for a new stylist. Salon Joa was within walking distance and it appeared to have a good vibe with lots of salon/spa options and stylists. I felt very welcomed when I walked in and was fortunate that the owner of the salon could fit me in right away. Great cut and attention to detail. I decided to try something new and had a little waxing done. They lady who worked with me was also very welcoming and really enjoyed working with clients. Very glad I found this awesome salon! From when you walk in to when you leave, every person on the staff is welcoming, friendly, and willing to help in anyway they can. Let me just say this. I had a really bad haircut by another salon because a lot of stylists can't handle Asian hair, especially the thick, full volume ones. Mel is top notch. She is someone who communicates really well about what she is going to do to your hair and does a good job considering what you want. Had my first visit at Salon Joa last night. Got a full set by Jennifer and I'm incredibly satisfied with my nails. Not only did she SLAY the shape, but I could tell she paid close attention to the details. I did a nude powder which I was not familiar with, but she made sure to inform me about what I was getting. Already rescheduled for my fill in a couple weeks. Tee did my Balayage.... I went in with realistic expectations since my hair was BLACK and obviously I was looking... to throw some blonde in there. I have never been SO content with someone doing my hair. Not only was she extremely informative, but she was patient and a delight to work with. She made sure to explain every step of the process. Let me start off by saying I really do love my nails, I do. Everyone was really nice and the salon is beautiful, Catherine was amazing, the only thing I have a problem with is that I feel I was overcharged just a bit, and if your on a tight budget like me. That's a big deal. I was going in there thinking I would be paying $40 to $50 dollars tops. But I ended up paying more and when I asked why so much more I was told it was cuz of the shape and length, and honestly I don't feel that they are that long. I started coming to Salon Joa three months ago because my hair was quite damaged and needed some love. Mel has been the best hairstylist and hair doctor! Mel knows hair like no one I have ever met and really strives to give her clients amazing cuts and color while helping the hair grow and get healthy. I have naturally blonde, curly, thick hair which by itself can be damaged easily and then with my modeling that just adds more damage. Mel has me on a plan, using the right products, getting my hair dusted regulary and not bleaching and already my hair has grown 4-5 inches in 3 months! And don't get me started on her color game, Mel is one of the best in Denver.
