I wanted to have a special mother daughter experience with my 5 year old.  She just wanted to sit in my lap and get her nails polished while I got a pedicure (I had done it before there-no problem).  Today it was a problem- "We don't do that!  She has to sit over there!"  Okay that's fine we can do that.  The staff was icy cold- no smiles.  My daughter and I sat together at the table while my daughter got polish and then we were quickly told to sit at the blue light driers...and we waited without a word about my pedicure so I paid $10 for her polish and left.  My daughter asked why they were so angry...who knows but we will not be returning!!! I got my nails done 4 days ago and my toes look fine, but every single one of my fingers is chipped or almost completely scraped off. I didn’t do anything like gardening or work all weekend that would make me expect this much damage. Really pleased with my experience!! Besides the high price for just getting your nails done, they were done very well. My acrylic nails actually stayed on for almost a month until I started getting antsy and picking them off. My nails looked amazing after and I am very satisfied. Do not normally post reviews but this was a terrible experience. I went there for a mani and pedi after reading all the positive reviews. I was taken aback by the lack of cleanliness. The utensils do not look sterilized at all. I did not see a sterilizer or anything being unwrapped like new. She pulled and pulled at my skin, digging into my nail beds and was very rough. I honestly hope I do not have an infection or an ingrown toenail now. I had gel on my fingernails previously so she had to remove them and instead of waiting to scrap off the polish she used a buffer and a sand blaster to take it off with only a few minutes for the acetone to work. This has left my once strong long nails, extremely brittle and now blended with color from the gel polish embedded in the nail. I opted out for polish because my nails now have to heal from that experience. I went there as a treat being 9 months pregnant and knowing I would not have another chance to be pampered and left very disappointed. Read Less

I absolutely love getting my nails done at this establishment.  I prefer this salon over all of the trendy high priced salons that Boulder has to offer.  The staff are friendly and ask for your preferences on everything before making any moves.  I had Debbie to my gel manicure last time and I am absolutely in love with the color and execution.  Usually my gels only last two weeks before peeling off, but I have had them on for a full week with no signs of peeling anytime soon.  The pricing is posted on the wall and they don't ask to add-on a million pricier options. Great quality and service. My gel nails stay on forever without flaw. Everybody is very nice and diligent about their work. The only thing that bothers me is the sometimes loud chat in another language between some of the female staff. It can be grating/give me a headache and work against the relaxation I get by having a mani/pedi. I put up with it though because the finished product and attention to detail is great. Read Less

pros:1. large, clean space with comfortable chairs/ 2.They seem to always have at least one person there who speaks English.  3. I have stopped in at least 3 times and have never had to wait more than 10 minutes and usually can get in right away.  I do stay away from peak hours .cons: 1. I have used quite a number of salons in Boulder over several decades.  This is the only place where the attitude of the people in charge has consistently been unpleasant.  They seem irritated/grumpy and are simply not friendly or customer oriented. 2. I tried again recently and in addition to the unpleasant attitude, the technician was so aggressive trimming my cuticles that she both kept hurting me and managed to actually cut me which turned into an infection.  Two full weeks later I am still nursing the scabbing.3. I just tried to remove my dark toe polish and discovered they had not put a clear undercoat which resulted in staining my nails.  I had my eyes closed during the pedicure so did not notice. However, I know when it has been used or not due to the way the nail and surrounding cuticle stains.4.They would not give me a mask.  I have never been to a salon - even the cheapest ones- which would not supply a mask on request.I will not be returning. I just got my nails done and they did a fantastic job! They asked questions every step of the way to guarantee I was happy with the outcome. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Not only that but their selection of gel polishes was phenomenal. I will continue to give them my business! The only problem I have was a few tiny bubbles were left on my nails. Overall I am happy! I think I can safely say this is the worst pedicure I ever got in my life. The woman finished in probably 20 minutes. She barely did my cuticles, ripped a hole in my toe with the 'cheese grater' they use to remove callouses, and painted my toes with one super thin, uneven coat of polish which chipped that afternoon. First time ever I haven't had 2 coats. My girlfriend's manicure started about 10 minutes before mine, and ended about 10 minutes after, so maybe I just got a manicurist who wasn't any good, but then what was she doing there?And these guys are pricey. The employees need are the sweetest!! I com here for all my event nails. Vacation, bridal shower/bachelorette, anniversary....whenever I need my nails done. . Typically I do no chip manicures and a basic pedi--both wonderful!!  Their basic pedi includes got stones. Very nice! Most recently I had acrylics done for my bridal shower/bachelorette party as I wanted longer nails. I'm very happy with them. For $28. for a basic pedicure, I am super disappointed!This was the only place that I had found a yaer ago that did a thorough job.I was apparently the first one there, to find a rather disgruntled employee.That was fine. I tried to "cheer her up" as she was tired, complacent, and somewhat rude.I found myself picking some dirt out from under my toenails AFTER she "cleaned" them, she did not clean cuticles well with rough edges remaining, nor did she file nails to an even close smooth shape. This is probably the worst mani-pedi I have ever gotten.  The pedi was rushed and later I saw that there was nail polish on the skin of my toes that was never cleaned off.  The mani was even worse - rushed again, my fingernails were uneven with some lopsided and some longer than others.  The woman actually cut my skin and hurt me when clipping my cuticles.  She was grumpy and couldn't speak English so I could not communicate my displeasure.  Now I have to fix the mess at home.  I will not return to this business.Later I decided to send the business a complaint.  They offered to fix the problem, which they did the next day with much better results.  I requested a different technician, and it all worked out fine, so I will increase my review to 3 stars instead of the original 1.  Take your chances.  It depends on the technician. Was really satisfied with my acrylic fill and repair of two nails. I was going to Boulder nails for about a year and was disappointed the last few times and decided to try somewhere new. The lady at encore was very quick but also did my nails very well. I have an oval shape which I think is a more difficult for some. My nails are all smooth and the same length and shape! I discovered Encore about a year ago after trying every Nail Salon in town. The family at Encore treats *me* like family!!  Debbie, John, Lynn.. they are all awesome, friendly, professional!  As I walk in the door, in unison, they call out my name.. It feels awesome :O)They are so careful with my cuticles, and my manicure lasts forever. I always get a French, but they know that I like to experiment.  So, around The Holidays I'll get sparkly red instead of white, pink in the Spring..And, the massage chairs after a long day for their amazing pedicures?  Don't get me started.  I've had pedis for years, but they do it right!Did I mention the ice-cold bottled water they hand you when you walk in the door?  Or, the free wi-fi? I take issue with the people who say that this is not the most luxurious or indulgent nail salon. You can't expect a hot stone massage, scalp scratching, whatever and still expect to pay $28 for a gel. Make the trade off, if you want a spa like atmosphere, then patronize ten 20 or somewhere else. If you're looking for a no frills, efficient, well done gel mani in a cleanly and friendly salon, Encore Nails is the spot for you. As a budget-priced, yet super clean, efficient and friendly nail salon, this place gets 5 stars! It's not the St Julian Spa, but nor is it priced like a top tier spa. What'll it cost you? $40 for a mani + pedi! Or, opt for a Deluxe Pedi with massage, hot rocks, paraffin wax...for the money you get a fantastic value - thus why it give it 5 stars for its class!  What do I like the most? CLEAN salon, super friendly staff from Vietnam, with tons of help to help with those peak times. I saw them cleaning out the basins and sterilizing tools as I was leaving...which gives you that warm fuzzy when you think about the volume of feet and toes in those basins. Ewwww. What else is noteworthy? OPI nail polish, good quality gels, tons of decorative art...and prices posted openly for you to review. The massage chairs are aggressive (a good thing) and comfy.
