I like this JC Penny's for kids stuff and they have tons and tons of kitchen gadgets.  The signs advertising the sales can be misleading and tricky so read carefully.   Sales people are nice and helpful but unfortunately there's not many people working the floor. I was looking for a specific item and there was nobody around to help, fortunately the nice manager was passing by and noticed my frustration and assisted in helping me look for an item.   Super nice female manager!  Only critique I have is that they need more sales associates on the floor to help customers.   Also, there's a nice Sephora in the middle of the store for beauty products. If you have plenty of time on your hands then this is your store! We went to buy shoes for work. My daughter found 3 pairs she liked which is good! She's super picky! But we waited 15 minutes for someone to show up to help us. So we left shoe department on a quest for help. That took another 10. Manager finally helped us. He was very nice. We ordered a pair shipped free to store. This was about 2 weeks ago. I checked the order status yesterday and it says 4-7 days more. What!!!! And the line in the front of the store was at least 20 deep. He opened the shoe department register just for us! Phew! But I can order from just about anywhere and get my stuff in a few days. What's up with this 3 week wait? Are they using the pony express? 2 stars for selection and good prices and the nice manager! I'll add to this post of when I get  the shoes...never mind, they cancelled the order, never notified me and KEPT my money. Had to open a ticket for refund. Grrr! Read Less

Terrible shopping experience. Very understaffed. Long lines and nobody seems to care. I am writing this negative review because this is a consistent issue with this store. When I have spoken to associates, no one seems to care. I've asked to speak to a store manager and I was literally ignored. Customers are leaving lines and not making purchases because who has 30minutes to wait in line? I came into to make a return and would have probably made another purchase had I had not to figure in the time to wait in line. Read Less

My husband hates shopping but, once per year, we go to Penney for his work clothes. He can usually find what he needs and we're done. We entered the men's department on Sunday morning and were immediately struck by the overwhelming mess. This was not a sale weekend! What on earth happened? Everywhere we looked, clothes were piled on displays, shoved onto shelves and jammed into racks. One checkout stand was completely stuffed with bags and bags of clothes on the floor and piled high on the counter. The young men working that morning were very nice but, honestly, none of them know how to fold clothes. I was watching them try but they were so slow and inept (and unenthusiastic) they weren't making any headway at all. It was almost comical.The music was TOO LOUD, so loud my husband and I had to raise our voices just to hear each other when standing side-by-side; and the bombardment of Christmas music so early in November made it worse. A clerk was sympathetic but said even the manager has no control over volume; it's a CORPORATE decision. Well, corporate, that's a big mistake.We left in disgust and went to Khol's. Same shopping center, same day. Not my favorite store but--everything was very tidy and organized, we found everything we wanted and the music was at the right volume. Sorry, Penney's. Read Less

I went to their salon and I was really glad that the hair stylist Rosie did a fantastic job in color and highlighting. I recommend her if your a picky about your hair.

I am giving 2 stars because the cashiers are awesome and super sweet and helpful and the prices are awesome. Majority of the staff is wonderful there just isn't enough staff. Apparently that's the managers decision and the staff has said to comment on surveys this year bit in my experience there are even fewer employees now. I used to love shopping here. Tons of cute stuff for very good prices. And JCP has the best sales. For the price I didn't mind having to deal with disorganized merchandise and don't need the store to look or feel like Nordstrom. I also didn't mind waiting a little bit in line. It's a trade off and to save a small fortune I was ok with those negatives. However it is a MESS now and takes FOREVER for assistance or to pay. Absolute chaos. And the only employees are in the check out areas so there is no one to help in the departments (explains why each department is now a complete mess! No one is there organizing the merchandise). Yesterday I wait for 30 minutes trying to get help in the shoe department. I had to go across the store to check out in the men's dept where the cashier said she could try to send her manager over. I waited 10 more mins and no one came so I left. The majority of the JCP customer base are families and older adults. Older adults need assistance often with sizing and dressing room help and they have the disposable income to spend on a ton of items and when they shop some where they tend to be very loyal customers. Well JCP is going to lose these folks soon! And those of us with kids, well I need to get in and out of a store. I don't have time with a little antsy toddler to wait around in a store. We don't have the disposable income with young kids to shop a lot of items and once but we tend to go places often and buy what we need so we come back to places that work well for our budgets and our time. Well JCP is going to lose us as cuatomers, too. The look, feel and style of the stores are not going to attract other shoppers so either better understand your customer base and cater to us or don't and lose your company. I won't buy online at JCP. Why? Because Amazon is MUCH faster, the same price or cheaper, and it comes to my house for free or very low cost. Shipping on JCP online takes weeks, and shipping is expensive.i f I do ship to store then the wait in that line is 20 mins at least. It's a hassle to go pick up the items and 50 percent of the time the item needs to be returned/exchanged for sizing or quality reasons. I have more reliability with Amazon or other online retailers. So for in lerson shopping I have chosen to go to JCP often but no more or at least this location. Perhaps the mall locations are better but I am rarely at a mall anymore. My prediction is this JCP will be closed in 1-2 years. If the manager there cares at all, I hope they read the yelp reviews and make some different decisions to increase staffing here (corporate for large companies like this tend not to read yelp, they rely more on surveys). If it wasn't for the sweet cashiers and good sales/coupons I would give zero stars. I used to shop here about 20 times a year but I am finally done. It's a better use of my time to go a further distance to a different store or to shop online with other retailers. Read Less

I would love to give a 5 stars for the entire store I love shopping there . But I had a very bad experience yesterday at  the hair salon (Whittier )we ask for a hair cut to my daughter , we left the salon ? her hair was wet we didn't know how bad it was until we came home .her dry hair became uneven and horrible. She was crying and embarrassed to keep her hair down .I called the next day and they said come at 10:00 the manager will be here and she can help fixing it , we went the next day , the manager doesn't know what happened and she ask us to come back  at night. We went back at night the lady who suppose to fix my daughter's hair was even worse , I ask her to fix the cut but she seemed that she was not comfortable to have the same hair cut that we ask for , it was literally chopped off , unprofessional ,it seems like they are more students than professional hair cutters, unhappy with the service Read Less

Ugh where so I begin?I walked in to find a replacement for my foundation I had bought previously (at the same location a few months back) anyways I walk in three employees where there with about 2-3 customers. Neither of the workers had asked if anyone needed assistance. Two of them were too busy talking and doing nothing behind the counter. After walking passed them SEVERAL times to see if they would notice I needed assistance & nope they could have cared less.I walked up to an employee i didn't catch her name otherwise her name would be in this but she wore glasses. I politely asked her if she can match me for a foundation immediately she looks bothered took a deep sigh and said w. Attitude "What kind of skin do you have?"  I answered nicely and she said again w. A bothersome tone  "what brand do you want?!" I said I actually would like a sample because I'm not too sure. And she again w. Attitude said "oh you want samples?! Like how many! I said just about 2 just to compare. She walked away to the smashbox area I follow, she stands there for a few  mins and walks away leaving me not says she'll be back. Not a word. I stood there for another 10 mins looking at different items she never came back. When I looked for her she was behind the counter again talking to the same employee from earlier. I just walked out at left. That was so rude.If you want to wait at least 20-30 for someone to acknowledge you and get treated like shit. Go to this sephora. They're horrible. I wanted to start this review off badly because the store looked unclean and the lines were long!!! Brian was picking up comforters and pillows and saw that I put them items down to leave without buying the items, he took me over to his registers and he made up for the lack of customer service I exprienced , we got to talking and found out we both liked the Dodgers and he started pitching me on appliances and I'm not going to lie he was a smooth talker , he talked me into buying a new frigerator and stove . Hire more associates like him and you will gain loyal customers , he also told me he wasn't a supervisor, the way he carried himself proved at least to me he is supervisor material . I'll be back in 3 months for a washer and dryer if he isn't a supervisor I'll be disappointed because I'll only buy appliances from him . Read Less

This is a very nice Jcpennys.. It doesn't get super busy or crazy like the Penny's at the Stonewood Mall with zillions of kids running around and clothes scattered all over the floor!! The dressing rooms at this location   could use some cleaning up though it has a funny odor to it and the rooms need a little remodeling. And yes the lines do get quite long at times if I must say.. but over all I prefer to come this one then others.. keep in mind though if your coming to see a huge selection for clothes and houseware  items then you might want to go to another location.. This review is for the Supervisors - Holly - not present... ynez and one other who was working closing the evening of Saturday January 7, 2017...I went in to pick up our one year old's portraits that were taken, already paid for, and ready for pick up... before - driving to this location I checked the hours online which said open till 9pm with no asterisk that the portrait studio held different hours... I showed up at 5:40pm and apparently the portraits studios hours were to 5pm... with that said - that's for taking portraits - picking up was always till the store closed at 9...With all that said the supervisors who had the key to the photo drawer with our pictures (already paid for with our name on it for pick up) but weren't "empowered" to make a judgement call and give them to me because their "might" be extra pictures in the envelope which JC Penny portrait takes and tries to "up-sell or cross- sell" to you when you come to get your already paid for photos... I explained they could have those "extras" and I didn't wasn't them but they refused to give me my already paid for photos! Just to force me to come back another day when the portrait place was open and could try to up-sell me. This is beyond blackmail and manipulation by this store and is negatively affecting people lives and communities as I had spent gas money to drive there and had my wife and 5 kids in the car - spent time fighting with 2 supervisors who weren't smart enough or empowered enough or didn't have enough brains or courage to make a "judgement" call and do what is right in the situation I will not be using this location for shopping or portraits or anything in the future and JC Penny is losing business by trying to force sell things to customersYnez should be ashamed of herself... They need to fix this now and in the future Read Less

The wait to pay at the register to this JC Penney is longer then the rest! In 1 day I have had to come back twice. Both times I've had to wait 30min+ in my first visit I've even asked to speak to the manager because of the mess and the wait. His response didn't reflect a manager. He said that's all the staff he had, which clearly they don't vision the need. He was rude and seemed bothered by my suggestion. Stating that register 90 and 92 is not the answer when clearly he was lying. A true manager with skills to deal with customers goes out of his way to open lines not challenge the observation. The manager by the name Alvaro needs retraining in customer service.  Having 3 areas in the whole store to pay is crazy especially in this time of year. Due to the need I had to come back the same evening but I've realized the whole hour combined I could of been shopping instead of waiting to pay in line. Once I get what I need I promise I won't be shopping here anytime soon. Read Less

I have been coming to this location for years now. Especially, with Sephora in there I frequent this store about 2-3 a month. Today, I thought while my daughter was in Sephora I would get my watch repaired. The Jewelry Department had 1 lady attending to the customers. It was another lady ahead of me. As she was ringing that lady up, I asked if she could replace the battery. She looked at me as if i asked her to lick the floor. Reluctantly she told me, "Yes, it will be $10", I said yes. She came to me a couple of minutes later and said she needed to tend to that customer to come back in 20 minutes, as if I wasn't  a customer. She was unprofessional, rude and shrugged her shoulders to indicate, "Oh well!" DO NOT SHOP AT THIS JEWELRY STORE, THEY ARE NOT DESERVING OF YOUR MONEY. SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY EMPLOY HER AND CONDONE HER TREATMENT TO THE CUSTOMERS!! Read Less

JC Penney Salon: My sister made an appointment to have her hair trimmed and styled for her wedding day. When she arrived for her appointment she was told that the stylist would be right with her. 15 minutes later she was informed that there was a mix up and that the appointment was never actually recorded in their appointment book. The receptionist then proceeded to tell her that she could stick around if she wanted to see if anything might open up. Like my sister had time to sit there and wait for MAYBE something to open up. There was no genuine attempt to make up for their stupid mistake, which made the situation all the more insulting and infuriating. Un-effing-believable!!! My sister traveled from Holland where she lives with her Dutchy hubby (yes, The Netherlands, Europe, literally halfway around the world!!!) to the states so that our family could all be there for her big day, and this poor excuse for a salon blew her off like she wasn't worth the effort. Never in my life... On the flipside, I was able to book an emergency appointment with Casa de Bellini Salon and Spa on Whittier Blvd. and Valley Home Ave. Desiree took her in RIGHT AWAY and her hair turned out great! I like this JC Penny's for kids stuff and they have tons and tons of kitchen gadgets.  The signs advertising the sales can be misleading and tricky so read carefully.   Sales people are nice and helpful but unfortunately there's not many people working the floor. I was looking for a specific item and there was nobody around to help, fortunately the nice manager was passing by and noticed my frustration and assisted in helping me look for an item.   Super nice female manager!  Only critique I have is that they need more sales associates on the floor to help customers.   Also, there's a nice Sephora in the middle of the store for beauty products. If you have plenty of time on your hands then this is your store! We went to buy shoes for work. My daughter found 3 pairs she liked which is good! She's super picky! But we waited 15 minutes for someone to show up to help us. So we left shoe department on a quest for help. That took another 10. Manager finally helped us. He was very nice. We ordered a pair shipped free to store. This was about 2 weeks ago. I checked the order status yesterday and it says 4-7 days more. What!!!! And the line in the front of the store was at least 20 deep. He opened the shoe department register just for us! Phew! But I can order from just about anywhere and get my stuff in a few days. What's up with this 3 week wait? Are they using the pony express? 2 stars for selection and good prices and the nice manager! I'll add to this post of when I get  the shoes...never mind, they cancelled the order, never notified me and KEPT my money. Had to open a ticket for refund. Grrr! Read Less

My husband hates shopping but, once per year, we go to Penney for his work clothes. He can usually find what he needs and we're done. We entered the men's department on Sunday morning and were immediately struck by the overwhelming mess. This was not a sale weekend! What on earth happened? Everywhere we looked, clothes were piled on displays, shoved onto shelves and jammed into racks. One checkout stand was completely stuffed with bags and bags of clothes on the floor and piled high on the counter. The young men working that morning were very nice but, honestly, none of them know how to fold clothes. I was watching them try but they were so slow and inept (and unenthusiastic) they weren't making any headway at all. It was almost comical.The music was TOO LOUD, so loud my husband and I had to raise our voices just to hear each other when standing side-by-side; and the bombardment of Christmas music so early in November made it worse. A clerk was sympathetic but said even the manager has no control over volume; it's a CORPORATE decision. Well, corporate, that's a big mistake.We left in disgust and went to Khol's. Same shopping center, same day. Not my favorite store but--everything was very tidy and organized, we found everything we wanted and the music was at the right volume. Sorry, Penney's. Read Less

I am giving 2 stars because the cashiers are awesome and super sweet and helpful and the prices are awesome. Majority of the staff is wonderful there just isn't enough staff. Apparently that's the managers decision and the staff has said to comment on surveys this year bit in my experience there are even fewer employees now. I used to love shopping here. Tons of cute stuff for very good prices. And JCP has the best sales. For the price I didn't mind having to deal with disorganized merchandise and don't need the store to look or feel like Nordstrom. I also didn't mind waiting a little bit in line. It's a trade off and to save a small fortune I was ok with those negatives. However it is a MESS now and takes FOREVER for assistance or to pay. Absolute chaos. And the only employees are in the check out areas so there is no one to help in the departments (explains why each department is now a complete mess! No one is there organizing the merchandise). Yesterday I wait for 30 minutes trying to get help in the shoe department. I had to go across the store to check out in the men's dept where the cashier said she could try to send her manager over. I waited 10 more mins and no one came so I left. The majority of the JCP customer base are families and older adults. Older adults need assistance often with sizing and dressing room help and they have the disposable income to spend on a ton of items and when they shop some where they tend to be very loyal customers. Well JCP is going to lose these folks soon! And those of us with kids, well I need to get in and out of a store. I don't have time with a little antsy toddler to wait around in a store. We don't have the disposable income with young kids to shop a lot of items and once but we tend to go places often and buy what we need so we come back to places that work well for our budgets and our time. Well JCP is going to lose us as cuatomers, too. The look, feel and style of the stores are not going to attract other shoppers so either better understand your customer base and cater to us or don't and lose your company. I won't buy online at JCP. Why? Because Amazon is MUCH faster, the same price or cheaper, and it comes to my house for free or very low cost. Shipping on JCP online takes weeks, and shipping is expensive.i f I do ship to store then the wait in that line is 20 mins at least. It's a hassle to go pick up the items and 50 percent of the time the item needs to be returned/exchanged for sizing or quality reasons. I have more reliability with Amazon or other online retailers. So for in lerson shopping I have chosen to go to JCP often but no more or at least this location. Perhaps the mall locations are better but I am rarely at a mall anymore. My prediction is this JCP will be closed in 1-2 years. If the manager there cares at all, I hope they read the yelp reviews and make some different decisions to increase staffing here (corporate for large companies like this tend not to read yelp, they rely more on surveys). If it wasn't for the sweet cashiers and good sales/coupons I would give zero stars. I used to shop here about 20 times a year but I am finally done. It's a better use of my time to go a further distance to a different store or to shop online with other retailers. Read Less

She was crying and embarrassed to keep her hair down .I called the next day and they said come at 10:00 the manager will be here and she can help fixing it , we went the next day , the manager doesn't know what happened and she ask us to come back  at night. Neither of the workers had asked if anyone needed assistance. Two of them were too busy talking and doing nothing behind the counter. After walking passed them SEVERAL times to see if they would notice I needed assistance & nope they could have cared less.I walked up to an employee i didn't catch her name otherwise her name would be in this but she wore glasses. I politely asked her if she can match me for a foundation immediately she looks bothered took a deep sigh and said w. Attitude "What kind of skin do you have?"  I answered nicely and she said again w. A bothersome tone  "what brand do you want?!" I said I actually would like a sample because I'm not too sure. And she again w. Attitude said "oh you want samples?! Like how many! I said just about 2 just to compare. She walked away to the smashbox area I follow, she stands there for a few  mins and walks away leaving me not says she'll be back. Not a word. I stood there for another 10 mins looking at different items she never came back. When I looked for her she was behind the counter again talking to the same employee from earlier. Brian was picking up comforters and pillows and saw that I put them items down to leave without buying the items, he took me over to his registers and he made up for the lack of customer service I exprienced , we got to talking and found out we both liked the Dodgers and he started pitching me on appliances and I'm not going to lie he was a smooth talker , he talked me into buying a new frigerator and stove . Hire more associates like him and you will gain loyal customers , he also told me he wasn't a supervisor, the way he carried himself proved at least to me he is supervisor material . This is a very nice Jcpennys.. It doesn't get super busy or crazy like the Penny's at the Stonewood Mall with zillions of kids running around and clothes scattered all over the floor!! The dressing rooms at this location   could use some cleaning up though it has a funny odor to it and the rooms need a little remodeling. And yes the lines do get quite long at times if I must say.. but over all I prefer to come this one then others.. keep in mind though if your coming to see a huge selection for clothes and houseware  items then you might want to go to another location.. This review is for the Supervisors - Holly - not present... ynez and one other who was working closing the evening of Saturday January 7, 2017...I went in to pick up our one year old's portraits that were taken, already paid for, and ready for pick up... before - driving to this location I checked the hours online which said open till 9pm with no asterisk that the portrait studio held different hours... I showed up at 5:40pm and apparently the portraits studios hours were to 5pm... with that said - that's for taking portraits - picking up was always till the store closed at 9...With all that said the supervisors who had the key to the photo drawer with our pictures (already paid for with our name on it for pick up) but weren't "empowered" to make a judgement call and give them to me because their "might" be extra pictures in the envelope which JC Penny portrait takes and tries to "up-sell or cross- sell" to you when you come to get your already paid for photos... I explained they could have those "extras" and I didn't wasn't them but they refused to give me my already paid for photos! Just to force me to come back another day when the portrait place was open and could try to up-sell me. This is beyond blackmail and manipulation by this store and is negatively affecting people lives and communities as I had spent gas money to drive there and had my wife and 5 kids in the car - spent time fighting with 2 supervisors who weren't smart enough or empowered enough or didn't have enough brains or courage to make a "judgement" call and do what is right in the situation I will not be using this location for shopping or portraits or anything in the future and JC Penny is losing business by trying to force sell things to customersYnez should be ashamed of herself... The wait to pay at the register to this JC Penney is longer then the rest! In 1 day I have had to come back twice. Both times I've had to wait 30min+ in my first visit I've even asked to speak to the manager because of the mess and the wait. His response didn't reflect a manager. He said that's all the staff he had, which clearly they don't vision the need. He was rude and seemed bothered by my suggestion. Stating that register 90 and 92 is not the answer when clearly he was lying. A true manager with skills to deal with customers goes out of his way to open lines not challenge the observation. The manager by the name Alvaro needs retraining in customer service.  Having 3 areas in the whole store to pay is crazy especially in this time of year. Due to the need I had to come back the same evening but I've realized the whole hour combined I could of been shopping instead of waiting to pay in line. Once I get what I need I promise I won't be shopping here anytime soon. Read Less

Today, I thought while my daughter was in Sephora I would get my watch repaired. The Jewelry Department had 1 lady attending to the customers. It was another lady ahead of me. As she was ringing that lady up, I asked if she could replace the battery. She looked at me as if i asked her to lick the floor. Reluctantly she told me, "Yes, it will be $10", I said yes. She came to me a couple of minutes later and said she needed to tend to that customer to come back in 20 minutes, as if I wasn't  a customer. JC Penney Salon: My sister made an appointment to have her hair trimmed and styled for her wedding day. When she arrived for her appointment she was told that the stylist would be right with her. 15 minutes later she was informed that there was a mix up and that the appointment was never actually recorded in their appointment book. The receptionist then proceeded to tell her that she could stick around if she wanted to see if anything might open up. Like my sister had time to sit there and wait for MAYBE something to open up. There was no genuine attempt to make up for their stupid mistake, which made the situation all the more insulting and infuriating. Un-effing-believable!!! My sister traveled from Holland where she lives with her Dutchy hubby (yes, The Netherlands, Europe, literally halfway around the world!!!) to the states so that our family could all be there for her big day, and this poor excuse for a salon blew her off like she wasn't worth the effort. Never in my life... The Quality of Jcpenney Clothes has definitely shot up! Love their Mango and Liz Claiborne section! As well as other brands that are being catered here! Quality is B Customer Service BPrice range B I am definitely coming here for more clothes if there's anything I see online before I head out there! There seems to always be a sale or clearance going along. The only thing I recommend this mall doing is to have more lines for their check out area because I feel as if they need more lines for the customers to come to jcpenney for a quick and easy service!
