1.) They first told me they were booked up with the appointments for the Bathing Ritual. 2.) Then they took my appointment saying they weren't booked up at all but the baths were shut down for maintenance. 3.) Then they said I was the first appointment for the baths because they will be back up and running for the first time on the day of my appointment. 4.) Then the day of my appointment they contact me and told me the baths were still not open for customers and still under construction. They offered me a FOOT bath instead and swore it would be the same experience. 5.) The ridiculous foot bath that I could do in my own home, was so much cheaper than the Bathing ritual. It was the worst spa experience ever. The Foot bath was such a huge waste of money. I had someone visiting from another country and this was suppose to be a special experience, we could have done something better. We didn't even have privacy, some stranger walked in during our experience. The spa tried to make up for it by giving us travel size samples. I probably won't ever go back. The foot bath was the equivalent of a nail salon peti soak where you stick your feet in a plastic container with a bag in it. Read Less

Ole Henriksen this is the start of a beautiful friendship. What a gem!!  Today was my first visit and I'm already planning my next visit. From the moment I walked in, it was a welcoming environment. Dario at the front desk was kind, amazing, knowledgeable and personable. I love the staff (everyone I encountered was helpful and accommodating), the extensive menu of services, the central location, the easy parking, the ambience, and the energy  I'm a sucker for the spa, yet I'm not easily impressed with the smoke & mirrors that most (all) chains and hotels in my area offer. When I do go it's out of necessity and convenience. I don't spend the day (nor do I have the desire)...Weekends however are a different story. I have more time to take a journey further away to relax, kick-back, and indulge. I want to be somewhere welcoming, tailored to my specific needs, not a one treatment fits all approach, or somewhere just hawking their products. Ole Henriksen Spa fits the bill perfectly! It is equally relaxing AND effective! That's a formula that many places lack, which will keep me coming back frequently. Today I had the Organic Moroccan Earth Body Cocktail and the Hot Stone Massage.  Summer was my therapist for both. She was nice, knowledgeable and someone you'd definitely want to visit (I will again) I started with the body wrap. First a coffee scrub is massaged into your skin, then a mask is painted on and you're wrapped super cozy. You're buffed, polished and moisturized thoroughly. Between each step you're rinsed right on the table. The "rainbow" shower is phenomenal. Laying down and having tropical rain trickle down your body? Yes, please!  Next I got the hot stones massage. I luv a good hot stone, and this was quite possibly the best one ever. Summer worked-out my sore, tight muscles perfectly. I honestly didn't want to leave but when I did I was (and still am) relaxed, detoxed, smelling good, soft, and feeling great. Horrible terrible business. I had planned a spa day for my wife and I for Valentine's Day. We drove out to be there early and have lunch around the corner. An hour before our appointment they called and said they were cancelling my appointment because I was using a Groupon. I had told them I had a groupon when I scheduled the appointment and even sent me a text to confirm my appointment the day prior. Then once they realized that there was no such restriction on the groupon they made up a story that they had double booked our appointment..This is One Hour before our appointment that was scheduled two days prior.  What a terrible thing to do to someone on Valentines Day. I will never come back which is unfortunate since it is around the corner from my sons school and it would be convenient to stop in. I went to Ole Henriksen for their Moroccan Bath Ritual. The staff member who helped me was courteous and friendly. The bath area was amazing and comfortable. As I entered the bath area the scent of essential oils in the air greeted me. The lighting was dimm and the sight of the wall of candles was both exciting and unique. The tub was sunk into the ground and next to it was a decorative tray with fresh fruit, nuts, cucumber and lemon water, tea, a glass of champagne, and a grated cucumber eye mask.  The bath had a hot tub feel to it and included essential oils in the water I believe. I went there for my first facial ever. I didn't know what to expect and I could not be more impressed! The place is super clean and have a very calming atmosphere. FYI I am not the type of person who "treats myself" to a day at the spa and I rarely get manicures because I am so picky and my skin is so sensitive. I went into the spa and was seating in this adorable and comfy area that had tea and water. I chose the red carpet facial and was given the facial but loris. She is the sweetest and most gentle person I've ever met! She asked me if I have allergies and I mentioned my concerns and she took care of me right away. I immediately felt calm and relaxed which is rare because I am such an anxious person. She was able to take all my black/white heads out as well as help give my dull skin life! When I walked out and looked in the mirror I was in shock, it looked like someone poured highlight all over my face,neck, and shoulders! I was glowing and it was not just me who thought that! I later went to an event and did not bother to put foundation on and I received tons of compliments on how I was glowing and my skin looked as though I was wearing makeup. I recommend this spa to EVERYONE who wants instant results. I love Ole and all of their products because they helped me love my skin and embrace a more natural look aka less makeup! In the mood to have the most relaxing spa experience with incredible staff and amenities, well you've Yelped the right page.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!So the reason I wanted to try them out was because I'm obsessed with bathing and jacuzzis...soon as I read soaking baths I was sold.  The amazing massages by Danny and Melissa were an added bonus (which by the way were fantastic 50 min sessions).  So amazing that now we request both of them for my wife and I to enjoy a much needed decompression.  After we do the 45 min soak, which is a truly heavenly experience. After which we use the steam rooms and finally finish with shower, told you I was obsessed with bathing.  No rushing, no other clients to get in the way...feels like the whole place is yours.  This is needless to say but I'll say all the rooms from lockers to bathrooms to massage rooms to soaking rooms are immaculate.  The staff is very friendly and welcoming when you arrive.  So you're at ease from the moment you put on the robes.  PS when I called last time to book my wedding anniversary celebration spa day, (totally short notice to staff that I needed to book right away) they accommodated with a huge smiles and were able to fit us in to keep us very happy.  Plus the bubbly during the soak added an element of romance we hoped for, Melissa you're the best for taking good care of us.  So go!!! My boyfriend booked us appointments here for our anniversary. We got there early to fill out paper work. When he made the appointment 3 weeks prior they told him we would be able to use the steam room before or after the facial. The day of the appointment they told us they do not recommend using the steam room after a facial. So if you are getting a facial and want to use the stream room I would go an hour before your appointment.   My facial was nothing special for the price. Loris was very nice. But I've had way better facials. I didn't feel relaxed because I could here the loud music from upstairs. The bass was definitely louder than the spa music playing. Overall, the spot was very clean. But I would never let my boyfriend spend that much money on a facial that was alright. Read Less

Wow! What a fabulous spa! I was hesitant because it's quite a drive from Redondo Beach, but decided to give it a try. The drive in on a Sunday morning was easy. Free parking (bonus!). First, I met Vance when I checked in. Very pleasant and welcoming. Answered all my questions and showed me around. After changing into my robe, I was escorted to the meditation room. I mentioned to Dario that I would prefer a roomier one (the one I had was like a medium size!).  Not only did Dario accommodate the change right away, he did it with so much grace and professionalism. Next was my Moroccan bath ritual. What a treat! Champagne, nuts and fruit, tea, water, and a fresh cucumber mask awaited me. The room was so relaxing. I had 45 min of complete peace. I didn't hear a soul while in this room. Next was my massage with Danny. It was like a slice of heaven. My body feels AMAZING and NOTHING aches or hurts! Thank you!!! Yesterday was the 11 year anniversary of my Daddy's passing so I intentionally scheduled this for today to pamper myself, reflect on his life and not succumb to the deep sadness. I am VERY impressed with their level of attention to their customers and understanding of particular needs. Just dropped off my youngest child in college, and to mark the beginning of a new chapter in my life (and avoid the empty nest sadness), I got to  enjoy a Moroccan ritual bath (unlimited champagne, fruit, nuts, and tea as well). I had a great experience from making my appointment to walking out after my massage. Ruth is an excellent masseuse and knew just how to relieve my back pain, she hit muscles I didn't even know how to reach!I came for a groupon offer and nobody made me feel unwelcome in any way. There was plenty of free parking and the facility was clean and quiet. I had the lavender soak and a massage. The soak was fantastic and relaxing, a hot water jacuzzi in the floor and the lavender smell was strong and natural. The bath was scheduled for 20 minutes but I never felt rushed.The massage was incredible and just what I needed. Have been here a few years ago and it was fantastic and saw a groupon deal so though I'd go back, but sadly the standards have gone down. I love the facilities and the Sonya aesthetician was sweet but the facial experience was terrible. She got products in my eyes on three occasions - I had to sit up and clean my eyes out, as she was generally pretty heavy handed.She talked about her career throughout my facial. Not very relaxing. She complimented my brows which was nice but then probed me about how much they had cost me, and then launched back into her career. I was also done in 40 mins. How do I put into words the absolute worst spa experience I've ever had? I spent 3 weeks planning an amazing spa day for my cousins pre-wedding festivities. The process of setting up the appointments were all wonderful. Everyone I spoke with on the phone was lovely and very helpful. Then the day of the appointments, things changed. We had 6 spa services scheduled for 2pm. We called to let the spa know we were running a few minutes late and arrived at 2:03pm. They told us that would not be a problem.  We were sat and told to fill out paperwork for 10 minutes then shown into the locker rooms to change for our appointments. We changed and excitedly headed into the room to get our treatments. Unfortunately, the services began and ended in the blink of an eye. Little did we know, they were cutting off 20 minutes from our services because of the time it took to fill out paperwork. They never once told us that they were starting our service time once we arrived, nor did anyone make any effort to let us know that every second we spent getting ready for the appointments in the changing room was being deducted from our service time. Believe me, if I had known, I would have changed faster than superman in a phone booth.  When we asked why we weren't given the full treatment time, they told us it was because we had arrived late and there was nothing they could do. Please keep in mind, we were 3 minutes late and they cut 20 minutes off our treatments. Despite multiple conversations with the manager and the owner (who were the rudest people I've encountered in a long time) we were not able to get the full services that we requested or any sort of apology for the terrible experience the bride-to-be had. She actually spent the day crying outside of the salon because of how she was spoken to during her treatment. (She was told at the start of her appointment she would not be given the complimentary champagne we requested because she had had "too many already"...this was extremely ridiculous and embarrassing because she doesn't drink!!!!) Things escalated and the manager threatened to call the police on us!!! He instead called security who came and told them that we weren't doing anything inappropriate and then left to console my cousin who was crying outside. I have never in my life been treated more inappropriately by a business and to add insult to injury we all walked away having spent over $100 for the services plus a mandatory 20% tip despite not even having a full service! We weren't even able to adjust the gratuity accordingly. Read Less

I've had two facials here. I really liked Gary, but I also had a woman with an English accent whom I didn't really care for and who rushed through the procedure. I didn't see amazing results, and after the last facial, I actually broke out with cystic acne, which I don't suffer from and I believe was a reaction to their recent changes to the product line. The products are very hit or miss (and overly fragrant) but they don't push tons of them on you the way other spas do, so that's nice. I definitely would have preferred if the ladies changing room was located in such a place that you did not have to walk through the storefront in a robe to get to the spa-treatment rooms. This was a great experience. On Yelp they had great reviews with a few crazy ones. I assure any good business is going to have the "love to complain" people. First off, I called and spoke with Vance over the phone requesting someone I saw a review for on Yelp. They were not available so he recommended someone similar in style, which was Christian. I came in and was greeted by Vance. He took me to a quiet room to fill out my first time form and start to relax prior. He offer...ed me water and tee. Then I got to meet Christian. He was very polite and offered all the amenities to me and then took me back. He facial was amazing. Great technique with great touch. He made sure I was comforted the whole time and pampered my skin. At the end, he recommending the products to me that he thought I would like, but was not pushy. It's always great to come out of a facial without the pressure of someone trying to be a salesman. They also offer a complimentary follow up 15 minute facial to make sure your skin is doing ok. I actually met Ole in 2002 in his spa when I lived in Venice Beach. I was doing an interview with him and I got several different treatments in the spa . I remember the goatbrush facial that actually gave me kind of special feeling suddenly :-) Very good indeed. I never forget meeting him. I have a really 'girly' co-worker who always looks great from head to toe & her skin is so smooth..she referred me to her facialist, Tiffany at this spa and Im so glad I followed through and went. I had a really great experience going to Ole Henriksen. When you walk in the girls at the front desk welcome you with big smiles showing you into the lobby. They served you African Red Tea while you wait for your facialist. I had my facial with Maki far one of the best facial I have had. She was very warm and friendly and she paid alot of attention to detail very good at extractions something I really needed. She was very helpful as well with any questions on the products that she was using on me. I highly recommend this place the staff is amazing and the girls at the front desk are beautiful. I have had many facials in my life, and this is by far the best ever. They have such cool machines, things for anti aging, acne treatments. I have been to almost every facialist at ole henriksen, they are all good, but recently I went to David Williams, and he is by far the best. He is so warm and friendly, and does lots of extractions which I needed. David also does alot of neck and shoulder massage in his facials as well. This is exactly what I needed!! I've been travelling on biz and used a Xmas Gift Certif. and my treatments were fabulous! The setting is intimate and heard several Hollywood faces were there during the week getting ready for the Oscars so my expectations were pretty high. There are many places to get a massage in LA. None are better than Ole Henriksen Face & Body Spa. The staff is young and energetic, willing to help you, and they greet you with smiles. The atmosphere is one that puts you in such a calm place. The aroma therapy only adds to the tranquil surroundings. They pamper you and let you relax after the massage in a glorious steam room. There is no pressure to rush you out. I have been going now for over a year and will be treating my sisters, when they next visit, to an hour with my massage therapist or to one of the fantasic facials. I've been going to this spa since 2000 and have had great experiences as far as the facials and massages. However, just this past week when I was there for both I had a diamond necklace stolen out of the locker room. I realized shortly after I left that it was missing and called immediately. The woman that answered the phone said she was too busy to help me. I called again 10 minutes later - same response. Finally I said I was on my way back so she then looked and said she didn't see it anywhere. Nice attitude. I went back and searched myself - only 2 hours after I left. Nothing there - no other clients, hardly any staff, and no necklace. I wonder what she was so busy with? She was reading a magazine when I got there. The next day I called and spoke to the manager who wasn't there the day prior and offered a reward for the return of my neckace. She said she'd look into it and speak with everyone, but I never heard back from her. I called the next day and asked if anything had turned up, but was told nothing had been turned in. I asked the woman who answered the phone if she was told about the reward and she said, 'um?' yeah. So finally on my last day in LA I went back in to the spa and spoke with the manager and another helpful receptionist. They clearly didn't do anything to find it. And they didn't care at all. I ended up filing a police report and the officer said it was grand theft since there were so few people in the spa and it happened in such a short period. I don't want to accuse anyone of anything, but something's not right. And beyond that, the attitude of the staff was appalling. There are so many places in LA to have a massage/facial/whatever. Don't waste your money on one where the staff gladly take your money (over $250 in my case) and then treat you like you don't exist when something goes wrong. Read Less

I had been on the road for a few weeks and was in need of a facial. My sister, who's somewhat of a regular here, recommended that we go together and I brought along some friends. Overall, I had a great facial and my complaints are minor: I like serious extractions and my facialist didn't do as thorough of an extraction as I would have liked. Also, there was one zit that she popped that I could have done a better job and wouldn't have left a scar. It was very, very slight and nothing I haven't done or other facialists have and it goes away after a few days and it's barely visible, but still... The whole experience lasted an hour (not 1 h 15 min as advertised, but I was also about 10 min. late) and there was no natural brush exfoliation and skin analysis was perfunctory, though she asked all the right questions. Still, I got a great neck, shoulder, chest, upper back and arm massages. To be fair, she did complement my skin and said I was doing right things to take care of it (and no pressure at all to buy their products) but all facialists tell me that as they skimp on extractions! My sister & one friend (a spa virgin) had good facials as well but both of them did not get skin analysis and no neck, chest, and shoulder massages as advertised. My friend's face could have used more extractions because part of her face that didn't need so much extractions looked fabulous. She didn't really like her facialist, though, because she said that she made her feel uncomfortable a few times. My other friend got a facial & massage & liked them both but didn't love them. All of our 1 hr 15 min. facials lasted only an hour; ironically, the 1 hour massage was the only one that was for 1 hr 15 min. I would recommend this place--my skin is still glowing after 2 weeks and for the first time ever, I have zero blackheads on my nose. And I liked that there was no mask residue hiding in my hairline and around the nose, which happens frequently. Read Less

Based on the Citysearch rating, i decided to visit the spa with a good friend during my weekend trip to LA from SF. my appointment was at 11AM. first my esthetician was 10 min late. and she did not ask me ANY questions about my skin condition. she went on assuming that i had dry skin (though i have combination). although normally i prefer them not to be chatty during my facials, she did not bother to even mention what she was applying on my skin. there was no shoulder/chest massage and the facial was 1 hour long, not 1 hour and 15 minutes as described on the website menu. when i asked the receiptionist about the time, she said, ""we give our clients 15 min in case they are late."" if that is the case, you CANNOT advertise it as a 1&1/4 hour service! especially when i was on time and my esthetician was late. and on the website it also says the facial is ""customized"" to the individual's skin... with NO questions asked about my skin, how did she determine what to use on me?? by far the most disappointing facial i have ever had. I visited the spa over the Easter weekend from the Bay Area with my best friend. We both had the 6 Step Body Treatment and absolutely LOVED it. The Tropical Rain Rinse, seaweed body wrap, and massage were fantastic and a great value. After the treatment, we went next door to Clafoutis and had brunch on their patio, which was also a treat. Wow this place is awesome, very zenlike, and relaxing. David Williams was my facialist and he was awesome, the best, and I have recieved many facials before. Before my facial I went for a steam, it felt wonderful with the lavender aromotherapy. I went to this spa after reading the great reviews on this site. However, the service and spa experience were awful. I expected to have a spa experience - changing into a robe, using the steam room, etc. - but it didn't happen. I had to change in the smallest treatment room I've ever seen and was told to keep my jeans on during my hour long facial. How uncomfortable! Don't go to this spa if you want to be pampered and have a relaxing spa treatment. Read Less

I've never had a spa treatment before, so I decided to have one at Ole Henriksen, which has a stellar reputation among nearly all the people that I've spoken to. Parking is a breeze in the Sunset Plaza lot (which is free!) and the reception area is pleasant. Briony did my Honey-Cucumber Total Body Treatment, which was divine. Everything smelled good enough to eat - it's all pure and whole. Briony was friendly, super sweet, and absolutely fantastic. I thought that I got a lot for the price. The facilities are well-appointed and comfortable, and everything is relaxed, which is how it should be. I would definitely go back for more. Read Less

If you like being pampered, you'll love it here. I received a luxurious 4 hour package as a birthday present. I can't wait to go back. The sea salt body scrub was amazing and the tropical rain rinse was to die for! By far the best spa experience I've ever had. Read Less
