Cathy asked me repeatedly to leave a Yelp review. Annoying! I finally felt forced to do it for I thought I wouldn't get good service if I didn't. I wrote one against my will, but eventually I erased it. Cathy noticed I deleted it & kept bringing it up at every other damn appt.! She kept asking me when I'm going to write another review. Now that I feel the review is well-deserved, here it is. (If I could give it 0 stars, I would.)If you're looking for:*professionalism*your appt. time to be honored*your time to be respected*quality work*a peaceful and quiet place*to relax while you get pampered*not be lied to or undermined, then Zen is not the place for you.I went to Zen (nothing zen about this place) for approx. a year. Rather than zen, I too often walked out of the place very upset, highly irritated & displeased. Opposite of what a pampering session is supposed to be.Cathy's pedicures are exceptional, which is the reason I cont'd going but had to exercise a lot of patience until my patience ran out. There's a lot I could say, but I'll sum it up w/the following:*good technicians don't last long at this place; I saw many come & go*Cathy engages in loud convo w/her other techs, esp. Kim. They're both so obnoxious!*the quality of Kim's work is so poor and, worst, she takes too long bec she's socializing while giving you a low quality mani; sprayed me like 3 times w/alcohol & not just my nails but my whole hand*Kim would watch over me to see how much tip I'd leave her. Rude!*extremely long wait times to the tune of waiting up to an hour & a half!*you make an appt., but no point as walk-ins & first time customers are given priority over those who make appts. & are established/loyal customers*techs aren't treated w/respect, which is why good ones don't last. The way it was put to me is that Cathy looks for pushovers she can boss around, yell at and belittle;*you're undermined & lied toIf you care to con't reading, I've expounded on some of the bulleted points above. There were two exceptional technicians who had very short stints at this shop. They both complained of mistreatment & being taken advantage of. Since they quit, I saw this place go thru so many techs that came & went. There was one who gave me hope (Kim) and actually has lasted the longest, if she's still there. Kim quickly got too comfortable & the entire time she was doing my mani, she'd have loud conversations w/Cathy like they were at a bar & there to socialize, not work. I'd end up getting over hour-long manis due to Kim's excessive talking. I'd tap her & tell her, "Kim, please." She'd get quiet for about a minute & then start up again. No regard for my time. How am I supposed to relax when they're having a full on loud convo in their native language, no less, laughing, giggling & plain being obnoxious?I have good reasons to question her honesty. The first time, Vicky, an excellent technician she had, told me that shortly after I'd made my appt. Cathy made her take a walk-in customer. Vicky told me she told Cathy I'd just made an appt., but Cathy made her attend to the walk-in customer & told her I could wait. When I finally sat down for my mani and Vicky stepped away to grab something from the back, Cathy came over &, in a low voice, told me that Vicky hadn't put my name in the appt. book. I mentioned it to Vicky & she confirmed what Cathy said, but told me that she verbally told Cathy I was on my way and would be there in 5 minutes. This happened about 3 times and each time Vicky said Cathy just didn't care bec she doesn't turn down walk-ins or first time customers. Sadly, Vicky quit not long after I started going there. When she'd just quit (unbeknownst to me) I called to make my appt. w/her, Cathy told me she was on vacation but someone else could take me. Come to find out, Vicky had quit & wasn't on vacay. Since Vicky left I saw so many techs come & go. That told me a lot. Due to limitations, that's all I can write but I had quite a bit more. :/I wish Cathy well & hope she will take this review as constructive criticism & learn & grow from it, and not bad mouth me to other customers like she would do with me about other customers who wrote reviews like mine.Best to you, Cathy.
