I won't go into detail but being new to the community when I was looking for a place for my pedicures I tried a couple of places and was very unhappy until I tried Top Nails. I always feel welcomed, I feel like I get personal service, the prices are very comparable to other salons. One thing I do always try to do though is to have an appointment even if it's an hour in advance I try to make sure that I call ahead. So I think the longest I've ever waited is maybe 30 minutes which I think is reasonable on a very busy day. I haven't found any place else in the Des Moines Metro area that I like as well. Read Less

This is my third visit here and I must say the BEST acrylic fill and gel paint EVER. I’m always a walk-in and have always been accommodated within a few moments. Today, Tom took care of me and I’ll be asking again for him. He knew exactly what I needed and how to make it look good. Not one single nick on my cuticles and the paint job was PERFECT. I got acrylics done here by Sarah and I was extremely disappointed. The acrylics are lumpy and uneven, she left chunks hanging off of the nails, and the nail polish was applied carelessly and in opposing directions. Additionally, when I chose a color she told me it would not look good and I should choose a different one. The woman at the cash register kept my change assuming a very large tip which I found unprofessional. 15 years in business. Idk why I've ever tried other nail salons. My nails have NEVER been botched here. Walk-ins are going to have a wait during peak business hours. Wedding parties will also set you back. Tip: make an appointment or prepare to wait. I choose to stop in about 30 minutes after opening. If it's a long wait time, I can always run across the street or toddle around the surrounding stores in the strip. Read Less

If I could rate a 0 star, I would. My daughter and I waited for 40-50 minutes today with our water warmed up 6 times!!! 6 times they had to warm up the water because it was such a long wait. This was probably the only thing that was impressive as they want you to be comfortable while you wait for an hour or more for service. Our feet were prunes!!! They only started on us because I said we'd need to leave 10 minutes later. Then, they spent only 20 minutes on our feet top...s. We spent more time drying our nails then they did on a rub. We walked in at 3:15 and left at 5:30pm. The wait would have been tolerable if the pedicure was even half way adequate. They didn't even get rid of our cuticles and barely filed our nails. I think she skipped three of my toes completely when filing and only trimmed 2 of them. She pushed in on the side of my toes and asked if they hurt. Since I didn't wince, she didn't touch my toes. I need another pedicure to get the ingrown nails out of my toes. Never have I been somewhere where they rub your legs smearing them with lotion and oil at once, then paint your nails and then put on the hot towels while your polish is drying. Really?!! If you're looking for a good chair massage (the chairs are the only good thing about this place) and a few free beers (I never had an alcoholic beverage while I was there but saw several others that were offered) before you leave disappointed from the long wait for horrible service.... this is your place. I will never be back. This is the worse pedicure I've had in 20 years of getting them. Normally I never comment about services but this place was just awful. I'm surprised they even have a business. Went in with my daughter and niece today. For me and my daughter it was $104. Then my niece pays and hers is $102. Why? $20 upcharge for shellac on your toes? Ridiculous! Asking questions just gets snotty comebacks, they dont know where were going for cheaper prices. Ummmm anywhere. Ive been to at least 4 places in Altoona alone that have cheaper prices. We stopped in on a Monday night just as they were closing -- my girlfriend asked if they do walk ins or just appointments -- we were told both. We said we'd be back Saturday afternoon. Just as we said, we showed up Saturday afternoon. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed and they remembered us!!! We got seated, feet soaked, had a cocktail and our pedicures!!! It was awesome!!! She got just the basic and I got the deluxe! We'll definitely be back!!! The atmosphere was great -- the people were friendly and courteous -- and the pedicures were great!!! Quickest pedicure ever and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. It's wasn't a bad pedicure but I felt very rushed. As if they were on a tight schedule and were trying to get through al their pedicures without engaging with the guest or making sure they were happy with the results.Also I really wanted to get a manicure but they said they didn't have time....in all my years going to nail salons I KNOW that they don't say no. Even when they are busy they say "wait a few minutes" or "come back in 30 minutes" and they figure out a way to make the guest happy. Not here. They said "no sorry" and they didn't seem apologetic at all. They also don't allow tip on the card so we had to pay tip in cash? Something that if they said that BEFOREHAND, we would have come prepared.Other than that, I'm happy with the color! It's just their customer service that is really suffering with the overbooking of appointments. I came here with my girlfriend for my birthday day present! She and I got the shellac gel pedicure and it's still on kinda. The lady said it'll stay in for two months!! We were like- dang?! For real?!! Okay, let's get it done. Shoooo- lol Welp, it stayed on for about a month. One toe nail gel polish came right off on my right side. And then it just didn't look as cute anymore to me. Now I'm trying to Pinterest how to diy my toes! Search engine: How to diy an upside down french manicure.  I just put some silver sparkles. That'll do! Not- they're fugly! I need to take them off. Long over do pedicure because it's harder to take off shellac. I'd say, if you have money to spend and can get to the salon on time- then go and do it! If not and you're on a budget- than no. It's a treat! The cost is $50+ for just some toes to be painted pretty for about 3-4 weeks!! Mm...some woman can afford it and some woman can not keep up with Jones' unfortunately. It's irrelevant. J/p- a little bit. There's some truth there. I know some go to get pampered! I'm not judging. To his their own:) This was an okay place. They charge an arm and a leg. I think they can because of the location. I have gotten a gel fill here a few times and am now making it my regular salon. They paint the gel on super thin so that it looks like my real nail...every other salon paints it on so thick it looks like I have bricks on the ends of my hands. I don't know if this is the work they always do but my toenails were cut very crooked, to the point that I had to re-cut them to even them out when I got home. I also had to clean up the dry skin and cuticles that she neglected to do properly. The paint was also not on the entire nail, all the corners and edges lacked paint (not sure it they are trying to save on nail polish but at $30+ a pop I think I rightfully paid for my toenails to be completely covered!) My friend and I also had our big toenails cut really short for some reason which we did not ask for but since they did it to both of us I can only assume that this is how they do it here. Overall I had a pretty negative experience and definitely felt swindled once I got home and saw what a terrible job they did. Read Less

My Kuya's wedding was coming up & the question of the hour for me...do I go to a nail shop for a pedi or hook myself up @ home? Hold up, I found a gift card to Bollinger Nail Salon..perfect timing ^_^ LOCATION: Downtown Walnut Creek on Mt. Diablo Blvd w/ main cross street of N.California Street. Next door to Cost Plus World Market. Public parking garage in same bldg corner else metered parking. CUST SVC: Lady employees all cute, polite, friendly, & helpful =) Most ladies were Asian w/ prob the exception of 1-2 lady employees. SALON: Nail salon has a receptionist desk up front upon entrance. Manicure stations are in front part of lobby area, while pedicure stations are in the back half of salon. Appearance of this place is upscale, contemporary, & well...hell, just peep the pics from their website www.bollingernailsalon.c0m Something I find most odd for a nail salon is that they had no nail design display. Is that not weird ladies? I asked receptionist if I could see their nail design display as I was booking my appt for the next day, & she replies, ""See what?"" She then goes to a fellow colleague who puts her hand to me to show me the flower design on her hands...I'm like, ""Sooo is this the ONLY design everyone in here knows how to do?"" I get the response, we do freehand design, ""we do whatever you like"" kinda deal. Yeeeah, eye brow raised & middle of my forehead dipped in confusion..I'll just stick w/ a french tip design then. PEDI TIME: Came in on Fri 10/9/09 to treat my feet...ok, I had a 2yr-old $50 gift card from their San Ramon location, & was able to utilize here *tee-hee* Prices are a bit steep as far as I'm concerned, so really glad I found that gift card else I'd prob never review this place: $5 French Tip Design $18 Traditional Mani $23 Signature Spa Mani $28 Spa Pedi $40 Signature Spa Pedi $40 Mani & Spa Pedi $55 Sginature Pkg My pedicurist-Jennifer was great! I opted for the Signature Spa Pedi, & got french tip design on the lil' piggies. Signature Spa Pedi included a deep massage, & choice of green tea mask or paraffin wax. I went for the green tea mask since I've never done that; Jennifer was right too..tad bit tingly-stingy afterwards w/ the wash on the legs. As my feet dry w/ the wax, Jennifer pulls out the nail color chart for me to select for my paint, then she goes to the back to retrieve my bkgrd color for my french tip. Just something else new for MJ...color chart? Where's the wall of nail polishes for me to pick a bottle? Not @ this salon ladies ;-) DESIGNED, POLISHED, & DRY: So I had my appt for 12:30pm & was finished 1:45pm. Overall my pedi experience w/ Jennifer was great! The Signature Spa Pedi is a great treat to ur feet, although obvious the $40 is not just for the job itself...it's priced that way due to the furniture, light fixtures, music, & other stuff that make this place a bit upscale. Will I come back? Prob not...cust svc was great, but I know many other nail salons that are more ""pocket book friendly"" & have 2-4 nail design displays for customers to look @. Its ok here, but I don't want to pay more than I need to. Everything is an add-on price. Many other places will give you a neck massage along with your manicure for free. And, they will clean your heels while having a pedicure, for free too. I won't go back to Bollinger Nail Salon - not any of the 3 or 4 they have. This place looks really really nice, but they are a total pain in the rear that is not worth it. You often need an appt (you can never just walk in), they have very limited nail color options (VERY limited) and this is yet one more place that will not do your feet AND nails at the same time.
