Worst nails ever, there was acrylic all over my finger and the shape of my nail was completely gone! I asked him to fix it and he said that he doesn't see anything and different people had to do my nails, first guy messed them up and then the second gad to "fix" the third did the gel. I've been coming here for years. I love the service, acrylics, and nail art! They're very accommodating if you have children. The acrylics done by the man here are great and he's fast. Nail art is really good (Tina). There are a ton of colors and nail art to choose from!!!Pedicures are pretty standard and 30 minutes. My only complaint is that they massage you with latex gloves. I hate massages with gloves on because you can hardly feel anything. She massaged each leg for about 5 minutes. They don't really scrub your feet unless you ask them in advance to really scrub the calluses off. They're always willing to accommodate. I got the mani&pedi with gel plus nail art and my cost was $60. A regular mani & pedi is $30. If you have 2 or more people call ahead and let them know so they're fully staffed for you! Read Less

I will give it that their polish is good stuff, but that is about it.  Andy did my nails. It got quite busy after I arrived and he was pretty preoccupied.  I was concerned with jim taking off my gel polish with the dremel, thank goodness it worked out.  However he didn't ask me how I like my nails shaped and instead of square (like they were when I walked in) they are now rounded. This place sucks, I went in on Thursday for a full set, I asked for black gel polish, the lady didn't polish my nails right and my Monday the color started chipping. One nail broke 3 days after I got them done. These people don't do nails like they used to, it's like they don't care about the customer or the nail job just the money. I won't be returning. I love this place! I've gone there twice now for a fill, and even with a design it only cost $20. I love the way they shape my nails and the fill lasts at least 2 weeks-much longer than the fill from other salons I've been to. They paint your nails neatly (no pooling around your cuticles or see through). Due to my work schedule I often can't come in until 10-15 minutes before close but they don't rush at all. It's not the fanciest nail salon in town, but they do a very good job at a very reasonable price. Read Less

I went with my 10 yr old daughter to get a manicure with gel color and a pedicure with gel color and for myself a pedicure with gel color. 3 different people did our nails...The man who did my daughters manicure did a great job (friendly and took his time), the lady who did her pedicure took 5 minutes with just a single coat plus didnt put her feet under UV light instead put a small fan only and her nails begin to crack instantly and I told her she just fixed one so I kept pointing out the rest and she just ignored me. I was so upset because I expected her to do a job I paid for instead I get cracked/chipped and thin layer look. That Lady is just for the money and has HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE by ignoring us paying customers. Then she kept telling my daughter stop touching your feet together as if that would ruin the POOR JOB she already did right when we were paying. Gel nails are supposed to be dry and smudge proof!!!!! Went in for a gel pedicure and gel manicure. Asked for gel pedicure and got a regular polish, took forever, and a squiggly smile line. Pedicure didn't even last a week. My feet were red and itchy a few days after I had to use an anti fungal cream because I got athletes foot from the pedicure. Went and sat with another girl for my gel manicure. She shaved down my nails like she was doing acrylics which is a NO NO. I asked for French tip and it looked like a small child did the smile line or someone with Parkinson's did my nails. This business has non poorly English speaking workers so it not there fault that they don't always understand but when I went they did everything I asked at a very reasonable price.. I asked her about a certain type of nail which they didn't do. but she still got me the look I wanted, but in different way. also about the other review... the reason they weren't trippen about appointments is because most of there business is walk ins Im not even sure they really schedule anything. I will admit, the staff there is SO friendly to you at first.. But I swear after going there for a while they start to treat you like poop. They are SO rude and demanding. If they mess up on something and you ask them to fix it, they give such dirty looks and start talking in their language and it just makes me feel so uncomfortable. Worst part is that even if they mess up, they do NOT try their best to fix it, instead they say "that's how it's supposed to go", or "you come back tomorrow and we fix it"... took my daughter to get eyebrows waxed, she's had them done other places but wanted to try them because she gets her nails done there. Tina was the one who waxed them. She put a lot of wax even where there was no hair. Dripped the wax on her face as well. My daughter is so burned from the wax it's terrible, almost took her to the doctor. She had such a bad experience she says she will never wax them again anywhere. I called to complain and they tried to just make excuses, never apologized and telling us to just put vaseline on it. WRONG ANSWER for me. I am a license cosmetologist for over 20 years. I just said she at least needs her money back. Still tried to just make excuses even after I told them she has burn marks where there was no reason for wax to be and I just don't want this to happen to anyone else. I don't feel they ever really "heard" me. After demanding her refund they at least agreed, never taking responsibility for any wrong doing. After going there for 2 years on and off for nails she will never go back. Very sad she tried to do something to better her look, for the weekend and now she does Not want to leave the house. Terrible. charged me for a full pedicure, which is $23, to cut my toenails and paint them...which I got done 3 days ago and is already chipping and peeling!!! I got a fill as well, and my fingers were on fire..not sure if it was bad product or what. But they were too quick and very careless...cut me multiple times and my fingers still hurt. Drove in from out of town and wanted a new gel color. Didn't wait long but was serviced by three different workers just for gel nails. During the polishing I wasn't even at a station, I was at the end of a station pretty much having my nails painted on the girls lap. She forgot to file/shape my nails and she literally finished polishing in like 10 minutes. The coats of polish were terrible and uneven and they didn't even tell me to wash my hands nor did they put any cuticle oil on my nails. When they were done they didn't even clean up the polish errors around my nails. I was not happy with my service at all and will not be going back. Read Less

I went in for gel french tips. The guy that helped me did such a terrible job on the tips (he drew all mismatched sizes) I couldn't handle how awful it looked so I asked him to fix it and his attempt to fix it was just as bad so I kindly told him I changed my mind and just want clear gel over my nails. He was very insulted and got upset with me. I would never go back to this place. I had  called them to find out what there hours were on Dec. 23rd. Also to get a quote on a full set of Rock Star.  After reading a lot of reviews on many other websites,. I decided to make an appt. I then as research other nail salons and found another with good reviews. So I called them and  made an appt. I then called back Star Nails to cancel my appt. The guy whom answered the phone said ok and started to hang up. I then asked him if he would like to know the date and time. He said no because it was for today. I then told him NOPE. I've lived in Visalia for a year and had to ask around for a good nail salon. Three people (one was a stranger) recommended Star Nails. I had a full set put on (gel) $40. I haven't had my nails done in three years and wanted them done for the holidays and the USC game. I stopped by the salon on a Sunday to check it out but they weren't open. I looked inside and it appeared clean. I was also able to see the prices. Full sets range from $22-40. I went with the more expensive full set because of the glitter acrylic and how clear my real nails would look under it. I made my appointment for lunch time (1:30) Not too busy but there was a good flow until around 2:30-3 P.M. I arrived to my appointment about 8 minutes early. My nail tech was Tina, but she was still busy with another client so another nail tech assisted me. I explained the length, color, style and art I wanted on my nails...which took a little bit as I was pulling up pictures for reference. The nail tech did a fantastic job from picking out the right nail tip size to the placing of acrylic. Not lumpy, filed to make the nails look in proportion to my fingers (no shovel nails!) Tina didn't make it back until he had already placed all of the acrylic. I chose to keep the nail tech that started because of the great job that was being done. I paid an extra $5.00 for the gel coating...it is just a good final touch and looks very professional. I would usually do a short french manicure - but I doubled the length I normally do and I had the red glitter acrylic on the tip. I am very happy with the final product. I would recommend this salon for full sets. My nail tech was Alex. Tina is the supervisor in the shop and from the phone calls that came in, is in demand. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because my appointment was made in advance with a specific nail tech and for 5 stars, the nail tech would have had to have done my appointment. I called another place that was cheaper an I made an appt. w/ them. I then Called Star Nails back to cancel the appt. I had made w/ them. Just moved to the area, turned to yelp to help me find a new nail shop. Although the people in this shop were nice, I probably will not be getting my nails done here again. My pedicure was ok I guess, it was done pretty quickly and although it looks alright, I could have done it myself. What I'm really disappointed about is the shellac manicure. In my experience, there is a proper manicure done prior to doing the shellac, here, she did somewhat of a manicure but didn't really address my cuticles, etc. at the end, after the shellac was applied my nails looked terrible. When I brought it up, the lady doing my nails began ranting in Vietnamese to her friends and telling me that it was my cuticles. Well.... It really shouldn't be my cuticles because it was your job to fix them before starting with the shellac. It has now been about one week since I got my nails done and the tips are already worn, the white on the French has those crackly looking lines which you get with regular pain when it gets old. Shellac should look good for at least two weeks....What a waste!!! Read Less

I started going to star nails in December. The prices were reasonable for my mother and I to get fills. Three weeks ago the prices started being inconsistent. We made appointments and had to wait. My mom preferred Tina and made appointments with her and she wouldn't do her nails and would have Alex do them instead who she didn't like. Alex messed up my nails last time he did them and I had to get a brand new set from Van. We used to get out of there for less then fifty and tip VERY well. Now it's 70 dollars for two fills without tip. It's ridiculous. They lost my business for good. The quality is amazing but not for the price charged. Read Less

I have been coming to Star Nails since Aug of 2010, I have cheated on Tina twice and got my nails done elsewhere and regretted it.  She shapes my nails great and is fast.  Liz is also there she does amazing art....
