Dirty/unsanitary, loud, uncomfortable.I have gone here a few times over the years and have seen it deteriorate to the point of completely unacceptable. Upon arriving I was greeted quickly and told to choose a color. The selection of polishes happen to be on a wall next to the seating bench where clients wait to go in. There was another client sitting right in front of the polish so I could not get to the polish to choose my color. Awkward.Once I was seated in my pedicure chair, I noticed there was no place clean to set my purse (see photos). My chair was old and run down. It was also directly in front of the television which had the volume turned up loud, competing with the music coming from the front of the salon. Between the TV and the music, and everybody in the place chattering at once, it was WAY too much noise for me. Definitely not a relaxing pedicure. My pedicurist, Mai, along with other workers were more interested in the TV than their clients. Her neck was turned backwards to look at the TV for about half of my treatment. Read Less

Lady who did my nails did a great job, nice and sweet no complaints about her or the service she provided.Here is where things went wrong. She sat in the far back near the arch way. When I sat down the sanitizing bag with her trimming tools was already open, which made me feel uncomfortable yet I looked past it. Then as I got my nails done I watched each worker rinse the tools in the sink using the nail brush and the water from the little bowl they soak your hands in to clean their tools. They then go to the back counter, dry with a towel and place them in a fresh blue sanitizing bag, making it look like they are properly placing their tools in the UV sterilizing machine. Each and everyone of them did the same thing every time they were done with their customer. When I got up to leave no one else was in the store except the manager, who could have been the owner. At which time she tried to say they use a machine to sterilize and pointed out a machine which appeared to be have not been in use for sometime, by the amount of stuff that was in front of it. When I told her that was not true she proceeded to tell me that the night crew cleans the tools. I will not be going back, fingers crossed I don't get Hepatitis from that place. Read Less

Really weird. The work they do is amazing, but the ladies all have an attitude !! All I'm saying is if you don't want me as a walk in, just say no I'm busy, don't make me wait only to receive attitude!I can always take myMoney elsewhere. Read Less

I am giving them a 3 star because while their services are good, Rose consistently is rude. There are no hello's, no goodbyes, no thank you's. Tipping is an expectation regardless of how you're treated. They seem to have forgotten that tipping is not required and is based on service and courtesy. Customers are people not just dollar signs. I've been going to Rose for over 8 years. She is fast, affordable and is an artist. Her work holds up, as I usually go three weeks between getting a gel manicure. Yee does my pedicures. She always takes her time with me, making me feel very special and pampered. She is also an artist. Her pedicures last me about three weeks as well. I highly recomend this gem of a nail shop! First and last time going here. I asked for a gel manicure. But I got a gel polish change. No skin care at all. No polish remover was used to really clean up my fingers and nails from the old gel polish. And the fastest manicure I've ever had. Literally 20 minutes from start to finish. The massage was just putting a tiny bit of lotion on the back of my hand. She didn't even put lotion on my wrists or arms. I do not recommend. I'm never going back. Wow I was impressed. They stayed open half hour past closing on Friday because I called and asked for an appointment. I was a first time customer. I got a mani pedi gel. Mya (spelling?) was amazing. I knocked a nail twice during and she fixed it both times, without being rude or mad or talking about me to her coworkers. I will definitely be back! This is my new go to in Newbury Park. Best local nail salon in Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Simi Valley area. I was in search for a nail salon I could go to and never complain about, and this was it. I went to a nail salon in Westlake Village for 6 months, then switched to one in Simi Valley a few times, then tried out two in Thousand Oaks once...Nails by Rose was what I was looking for all along. In comparison the other nail salons I have never had issues, not once. At the other nail salons my nail polish gel would peel in a week, the acrylic was too thick, or my nails would break. It was getting ridiculous and all I wanted was an expert that could give me the product I expected for nails. Rose is an expert and knows best for you. So bummed! Came with a friend for a gel manicure and pedicure. Kim did my pedicure and it was awesome!!! I would give Kim 5 stars. But another girl who won't tell me her name did my gel manicure.  I think maybe her name was Mai.  Anyhow, she rushed through roughly and barely paying attention tore up my cuticles and filed my nails so short it looks like I bite my nails. I have been going to Rose since she opened her doors when I was in high school. She does an amazing job on my nails,  and always makes tome for me. She is quick too.  No joke. An acrylic fill is usually 30 minutes which gives you time to do other things. Rose expects the best from her staff,  and only keeps well qualified staff members on hand. Rose has the best prices in town,  as well as better quality than any other shop. Yee is my all time favorite to do pedicures. She is the sweetest lady ever.  I've even bumped into her around town and she asks about my kids,  and family. A lot of nail salons are in it for the money,  Nails By Rose and it's staff are in it for doing a great job,  and building everlasting relationships. Keep in mind,  she's open 9-7 but closed on Sunday's. So,  make sure you make an appointment with them during the week. Saturday's they are pretty packed,  as this is a local favorite. Read Less

This place is great! It can get busy, but so far every time I walk in for a mani/pedi, they take me right away. The girls are super nice and it is very clean. Thoa (I hope I am spelling her name right) gives the best foot massage!! My nails look good for a long time and the polish holds up pretty well. Definitely my new place to go for my nails!! Nails by Ross is an awesome place to get a full spa treatment. They don't do massages but everything else. I swear..they all know me In there. They are exceptionally nice to me and my girlfriend and somehow always think we are the cutest thing ever together.Besides that I always have trouble finding a salon that is gentle and doesn't cut me. They are very gentle and take their time. Rose herself works there and is very warm and welcoming. Our nails and toes always look exceptional. The prices are also very reasonable!!! Read Less

This is my favorite nail place in Newbury Park. I usually get a gel manicure and regular pedicure...it's only $35.00. I would say that's a pretty good deal! I also never have any problems with the manicures I am given. I think an issue with all places is that your manicure depends on who you're getting it from. There are a handful of people that are just better than others.I've always gotten a good manicure from Mai and usually request her to do mine. She was recently unavailable for a walk-in so I got mine done by Yi. She was also very good! I would recommend both.I wouldn't say I have never had a disappointing manicure or pedicure from here. I've had a few girls apply a regular base coat under my gel manicure, which caused the gels to come off in just a few days!!! :( It's something to look out for...Overall, I would definitely say this is my go-to nail place and even take my friends from out of town to get their nails done here. Got my first gel manicure here! My french gel mani cost only $25.CND Shellac was applied and then I placed my fingertips under a UV light. My nails look very, very pretty!  They look very smooth and shiny, and somewhat thick. I really like that the white part is very big, instead of a thinly painted on line. I hope this lasts for a good few weeks!There is definitely a language barrier - at first I wanted glitter over my french mani and I mentioned it several times, but I don't think she understood that I wanted the glitter during that session. I'm fine without it though... I saw that the french gel mani by itself already looked very pretty. Might try the glitter in the future.Only complaint is that my technician was very hasty with cutting, filing, and shaping my nails.  She nicked my left thumb a little bit with one of the tools. As for aesthetics, my nails are now of slightly varying lengths (most obvious are my pinky nails, when placed side by side). Also, most of my nails were cut slightly slanted and some of the white lines are inconsistent as well.  However, these are things that other people wouldn't notice by just glancing at my nails and I WAS able to get out of there pretty quickly to go eat.... Would have given 3 stars, but for the great price, I'm okay with imperfectly shaped nails! They are still very pretty and I couldn't stop looking at them after they were done.The salon is decorated very nicely, with objects, artwork, and salon chairs in a brown and beige color scheme.I will most likely come back when I am in the area visiting a friend, and will get gel manicures again as long as they're safe (I've read some controversial and possibly alarming information!).
