So my daughter and I come here frequently and have for the last 5 years.  We typically come in as a walk in knowing we may have a slight wait.  Today we came in with appointments because we have things to do today and didn't really have any extra time to just hang out.  We both get seated immediately into chairs for our pedicures and 30 minutes later my 10 year old is still sitting here waiting for someone to do her manicure and pedicure.  I find it very upsetting that when someone has an appointment and there 8 technicians working that a couple of them are not set aside for people with scheduled appointments.  I actually have now realized that the only priority appointments here seem to be the ones where people are getting fake nails put on,  very sad I will probably now be reaching out to friends for referrals to a new nail place. I came on a Thursday afternoon to get a full set, always greeted as I walk in and always a fast great service so with that being said I was first helped by the lady up front who seemed to be the manager. She was filing my nails and attaching the tips like normal then it later went from the manager to some one named Peter.. wasn't surprised as I seen this happen before. He proceeded to do my nails and they were looking great!!! It wasn't until I had gotten home and realized how poorly done my nails were... I had excess gel on my skin, I do nails myself and that's a big no no. I looked underneath my nails and sure enough there was dried up acrylic that should have been clean/ filed away. Not to mention I also noticed a crack on one of the nails.. that's not it, I was at work and my nail was so thin that it broke off. I was thinking maybe it was a bad day for this guy Peter and I understand it happens. I went back Sunday to get the broken nail fixed and he made amends to fix them. Just as I was telling him what I wanted to get fixed I mentioned filing underneath the nails, they were lifting, and cracking he seem as though he was starting to get irritated with me and was being a bit rough, I didn't understand... this is a service that I'm paying for, if I don't like what I see I'm not paying. This used to be a great place for eyebrows wax. I've been coming here since 2014 and loved it. The past month I went and a lady did my eyebrows horrible. I have them a second chance, I let them grow back and had went there again yesterday 11/17/17. She spent 2 mins total. She ruined them again but worse. She made them thin, uneven and just sloppy. Worst experience ever. She was doing a pedicure jumped up did my eyebrows rip rip ruined...then ran back to the woman's feet without washing her hands. I honestly don't know why I go here as much as I do. It's convenient and I always get mediocre nails. Always short staffed and whoever is doing my nails is never focused on my nails. One time, I had three people rotate to finish my nails. It was weird. I'm actually here right now waiting on my pedicure.  there is a little girl sitting and trying to get her nails done. The lady keeps leaving to help other people (she's usually the one behind the register) and this little girl and her dad are very confused. As am I. Poor little gal!Just never impressed with service. I went to the Nail Spa for a quick mani/pedi. I first looked online and the cost was one price. Once I get there, there is another price. I consented as it was only $2.00 more- but really they should fix the pricing. (strike 1) I am asked to sit at a table. It had an old drink and a bag of other items thrown on it. Eventually someone cleared it off and I was brought a plastic tub to soak my feet. I am sitting across from 8 pedicure stations so I'm thinking since I am getting both the manicure and pedicure, perhaps they want me to soak here first at the manicure station and will finish up with the pedi- not usually how I've ever done it in all my years but hey, I will go along. Then they start to attempt to have one person work on my feet from one angle at the same time trying to have me twisted at a 90 degree angle to simultaneously work on my hands! I told them I didn't want to sit in discomfort for 30 minutes and they decided to do my pedicure first. (Strike 2) By this time, I have no faith in the service and ask why am I not sitting at the pedicure chair. The women I spoke to at the front tells me because it is another additional $2.00 more! (Strike 3). I told them I no longer wanted service and proceeded to take my wet feet out of the tub and put my sandals on. I'm never going back to this place again. First of all the lady who did my nails sucked. She cut my finger and blood got all up the side of my nail. She attempted to clean it with a sharp tool that only made I hurt worse. And after that she continued being rude and pushy. She also did a terrible job on my nails, especially for the price. I got French tips and they're uneven and smudged, she left some paint on my fingers and left a lot of dead skin. She painted over the blood on my finger so it's staying like that I guess. I go here because it's quick and they can always get me in.  I have to stop.  Every time I go I see more things that remind me I need to find someplace else.  It's really not clean.  There's an effort but it's more for show.  The tools are sanitized.  The pedicures are super quick without really paying attention.  There's no effort to really scrub your feet - It's more hit it and quit it.The people are nice.  So I'm not happy about making this review.  It's the clean thing that pushed me over the edge.   Cash only. Call to make appt. (im a first timer) they asked me who there does my nails? Again, i am a first timer.."ok, what time you want to come in?" 5pm. "ok, see you then". Ok,...so they don't tell me who I had an appt with or take my name. I got there at 5pm and they did see me right away although the lady before just left and she sat me down in her dirty table and continued to use previous clients old dirty nail tools....lady spoke maybe two words to the whole time and was rushing and spilling stuff left and right!! i had a gel manicure. she files the old polish off a bit before putting cotton/acetone and foil on nails (weird) and the best part is while my nails are soaking in the foil she puts lotion on my arms and gives me a arm and somewhat of hand message (WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO BE DONE AT THE END OF THE MANICURE!!) and when she tries to message my hands as the acetone is running out from the foil!! (what a dumb ass!!) themanicure part was half ass and she kept forgetting to turn the light on when my nails where under the UV light, but the frenchpolish finish looked nice, but i wanted thefrench with the darker pink in the nail bed (that didn't happen either!!!). So I booked three same day appointments for a substantial amount of services that was quite lucrative for them, being it was all done in an hour (give or take). I must say that this place does not deserve the three stars it currently has on Yelp. Out experience was not a good one. Usually I will give an establishment the benefit of the doubt before posting any reviews and even allow them a second chance to make a first impression. That will NEVER be the case in this situation. There are a number of things that brought me to this conclusion, however I will say this... if you want to pay high prices for multiple mistakes made on your nails (even after showing them pictures of what you want) and confirming they understand several times, them doing the absolute minimum with regard to your "spa" pedicure and leave with an overdone eyebrow on one side and the end of the other eyebrow non existent...then this place can absolutely deliver it all!!However, if you want to feel like you got what you paid for, go somewhere else. This nail spa is the worse i have ever gone too. The lady did my nails kid u not she did it for 1 hour. She keeps adding nail polish and didnt even it its equal or what. Its a gel polish and its already chipping. Rose kept saying Im sorry and her co-worker knew how my nails look like and was giving me sorry look. I guess you have to have the luck of the draw, so to speak, with this place. I went in on  Friday, July 1st, early evening, for a pedicure and manicure. The pedicure was pretty standard but the guy did absolutely NOTHING to remove any dead skin... essentially just painted the toes in a cute color and pretended to give a calf massage... no big deal I guess BUT the gel manicure that I got is hands down the worst one I've ever received. I am rough with my hands so I get gel. This past weekend I really did nothing more than chill out and enjoy not being at work. Well, it's Tuesday and half of them have fallen off or chipped off to a point that I just had to peel off the rest. My nail beds are yellow which tells me they didn't use a base coat and they needed to. I guess my word of wisdom is if you try this place out, just pay attention and be diligent in what you want because they will definitely cut corners. OH and, the weirdest thing happened... I was moved from the pedicure chair (which was pretty crappy) to a normal manicure desk and the older lady started vacuuming before the place was vacant. They were literally still taking new clients when she was vacuuming. This is a place people come to relax, not listen to someone clean. I received the absolute worst gel manicure at this salon.  I've been getting gel manicures for about 3 years.  They usually last 2-3 weeks.  I'm used to the manicurist using a primer then thin coats of base,2-3 of color, and top coat.  My experience at this salon was 2 days after the gel manicure, the thumb nail chipped then broke. The next day, the index fingernail did the same.  4 days after the initial gel manicure I returned to ask them to fix. Well, the owner/manager made a worse mess!!! Instead of filing and adding polish on the whole nail, she only did the tips!!! All the while turning on water for other people's pedicures and starting another customers nails.  It was extremely uncomfortable as she talked amongst the other manicurists in a language I cannot understand!!! Needless to say, the fix on the index finger was chipped again, in the same spot about 11 hours later and the thumb the next day!  I will NOT return here again...beware of horrible customer service and rush jobs to get as many customers in as possible...no quality here! Phong did my nails today and I decided to write a review on this shop because more people need to know about the wonderful talent going on there. I had previously gotten my nails done at TK nails three Saturday's ago..I was so upset with the quality the staff put out, and I even had my nails done by the manager. Nails were separating and getting caught on my hair the very next day. And mind you I am posting this review 4 hours after getting mine done at the nail spa so if they do the same thing I will post another review.Basically if you want a boss white and pink set of nails, go here. Never going back. The man who did my nails was rude. My cuticles hurt afterwards because he was rough. He filed my nails so straight across they were sharp on the sides and when I asked if he'd round the edges a little he fixed 2. This salon is amazing! They offer a great selection of packages or single services. The first time I was here, a few of us went to get pedicures. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, I felt like a princess! The second time I was here, my friend and I got manicures. It was really busy but they were able to squeeze us both in. My nails came out beautiful. My friend's took a bit longer because she got acrylics with gel and design, but they were sooooo pretty! I love how they do their own designs here. Read Less

I just walked out. I am not sure if Nail Salons Know how offensive it is to walk in and find that you're the only Customer whose technician is wearing gloves and also realize you're the only Black client. I find this happens a lot. I'm not sure if Some Asian Techs believe that Black People are Black because they are under the impression that it is dirt and not skin tone. The girls were really nice but overall the quality was average. I had pink and white gels done for $30. The owner tried to charge me $33 but one of the girls quoted me $30 when I first began. My pink gel has bubbles and some white spots and there are some lumps as well. It doesn't look bad I just feel like when you get your nails done it's for it to be as close to perfect as possible. I really love this place. I've been coming here for several years now and I get my nails done (gel) and pedicures at least twice a month. Staff is very friendly and place is always clean. Only thing I think this place needs is more up to date stones and decals for nails. A lot of places are doing that now and I wish the nail spa had more choices. I have been visiting The Nails Spa for about 3 years now.There are some great nail technicians and then those that don't "get it".Tammy and Rose GET IT.  They can understand you (they have amazing families, you should get to know your tech), they won't take phone calls during your visit (that is a tip breaker for me), they take time to give you an excellent product.Over the years I have learned they are paid a commission on your service.  They really live mostly on your tips.  The services there are fairly priced for the work done.  No, you aren't at the Bellagio where a manicure is 20 minutes and costs $75 BEFORE a tip.  A Spa Mani/Pedi is $26.  I don't remember what gel is but I got gels from both Tammy and Rose and they lasted so long. If they speak in another language, don't get offended.  (Please).  Try and be tolerant of the goodness they have.  They're working so hard to earn a meager living.I've seen some obnoxious and demanding (and condescending) people come in for services and treat these girls like dirt.  It's unbelievable what they put up with day after day. On the flip side, I've seen them helping our Seniors and giving them gentle extra care.The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that there ARE nail techs there that are a bad example of professional.  The girls that work hard shouldn't get the penalties of those bad apples.  If you get bad service, please ASK THE NAME OF THE TECH so you can be specific in your criticism. Why did I do this to myself?  My experience yesterday is my annual reminder of why I don't go to these quickie nail salons.   Lack of cleanliness and a fear of getting a fungus is my biggest reason for steering clear of these places and The Nail Spa succeeded in keeping my fear level on high.I just scored great tickets for a last minute concert and since I'm on a pre-concert high and short on time I go for the spa mani/pedi for $26.  I'm not really registering everything that's going until after the fact and here's what happens...  She fills the tub with fluffy bubbles.  Ok, this seems fine so far.  Then she gives me the typical quick 'I'm in a hurry even though there's nobody waiting' style scrub, file and cuticle work.  Out comes the used towel, the unsterilized tools from the grocery store bag, she waves the cuticle pusher over my nails like a magic wand and clips away furiously at my cuticles without asking if that's my preference.    And then she goes into a daze and rubs -  in a bad repetitive motion - greasy lotion into my calves for what seems like 10 minutes.  FAILI choose red so she has to do a good job and she appears to apply the polish competently. Then the manicure.    And she cuts two of my finger cuticles.  FAIL. I choose a clear coat because it's the best choice for me and she only puts it down the middle.  I ask her to put it all over the nail. (WTF?)  She takes in a breath and doesn't really do it so I have to ask again.   FAILIt's entirely my fault for not stopping her from the beginning so heed this warning if you choose to patronize this place.  Yuck. Ive been going to The Nail Spa for over 10 years and even though I live in Encino now, I come back to Simi for my nails. (I also work in Simi so that helps..) The place is clean, they do a beautiful job and are always reasonably priced! Never been disappointed here (which is NOT what I can say the same for a $40 Pink and White Fill in the valley) - love it! Cant tip on CC - bring cash for that.. Read Less
