Aggressive upselling operation. I walked in for the first time wanting a basic mani/pedi. Â A female manager greeted me, we discussed that I wanted the $28 mani/pedi on their board and she set me up with Tiffany.Tiffany was pleasant but had such a thick accent that I really had to struggle to understand her and often just had to smile at her after she spoke. Â I have learned a foreign language and know how hard and frustrating it is, but here's where this became an issue. Â I thought I was set with the $28 mani/pedi and then Tiffany brought over a laminated mani/pedi services menu and ask me to point to the combo I wanted. Â The $28 deal wasn't even on there but a bunch of more expensive services. Â I told her I still wanted the basic $28 deal, and we seemed good to go. Then she tried to sell me on some sort of gel/acrylic situation, which I just have not had any desire to try yet so declined and mentioned again that I just want the $28 deal. Â I also mentioned that I only want my nails buffed with no polish. Â Doing my pedicure, Tiffany noticed that my heels are a bit rough and tried to get me to do a callous removal treatment. Â Knowing that costs extra and that I have a pedi-perfect at home that removes the dead skin better than the chemical method that salons use, I said no. Â Tiffany kept pushing and telling me to take care of it, acting like it was a medical issue. Â I agreed to take care of it at home, even though she should have backed off before I had to say that. Â I've seen rougher heels than mine and found this exchange really odd and pushy. When it came time to do the manicure, I reminded Tiffany that I just wanted my nails buffed. Â Tiffany said "oh do you want them shiny shiny?" and she kept repeating "shiny shiny" and I said yes, as that's the goal of buffing anyway. Â Next thing she walks over all smiley with a new buffer all sealed up in plastic. Â Okay, well then of course I hand her my card and ask her to charge it and guess what, it comes back at $32. Â I asked her how that happened when I clearly told the manager and her several times that I wanted the $28 deal, and she said that I agreed to an additional $4 charge for the shiny shiny treatment, which I did not. Tiffany kept insisting that I agreed to the charge. Â What is bothersome is that English is my first language, and I never heard her say the words "four" or "dollar" at any point. Â It is really bizarre to have someone tell you what you said in your first language when that person can barely speak it. The bummer is that this extra $4 shiny shiny treatment resulted in weakening my nails. Â My nails are naturally strong, but most broke within the first few days after this manicure. Â I just felt taken advantage of and will be looking for other salons that are more respectful. Read Less
