I wish I had better things to say about this nail salon, but unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience. I met two friends to get our nails done because this place was central for all of us, and we thought we'd give it a try.I'm giving Fancy Nails two stars because they were initially accommodating when we needed to push back our appointment time at the last minute, and I really appreciated their flexibility. However, the overall service/mani-pedi experience was less than satisfactory. The woman who did my nails had an unpleasant, unhappy demeanor and she was constantly telling me to "make my hand straighter" or "stop moving". I really was doing the best I could to be careful. She made me feel very uncomfortable and I had a hard time enjoying myself. On top of that, she gave me one of the worst manicures/pedicures I've ever had. I honestly should have said something during the appointment, but I didn't want to cause a scene or embarrass her. I just kept hoping it would get better and I would leave happy.The issues I have with the experience are:Gel Manicure-she was very hurried and not gentle when cutting my cuticles-she left polish on my fingers/cuticles and didn't bother to clean it up (see pictures)-she didn't paint the entire nail, leaving at least one side of most nails unpainted (see pictures)Regular Pedicure: -she cut and filed my nails too close to the quick so they're very sore and feel raw (see pictures)-she cut some nails unevenly/at odd angles-she wasn't careful when using the clippers on my cuticles and made the cuticle beds and the skin on the side of my big toes bleed a little-she didn't paint the entire nail on my big toes, just like with the manicure (see pictures) [I had to wear close-toed shoes later in the day so the top of the nail is a little squished, and that isn't her fault]Overall, the quality of the manicure and pedicure was poor and not worth the $44 I paid in total. Then, I went to leave the tip (she honestly didn't really deserve a tip, and that's not something I would ever say casually), and when I put the $5 I was willing to give her on the counter, she gave me an angry look, and I felt very uncomfortable again. I gave her two extra dollars to pacify the situation, but I wish I had just left. My friends also weren't very impressed with their nails, although their nail techs were much more pleasant than mine. Got a gel manicure here today. Even though the place was half empty and business was slow my manicurist seemed in an awful rush, and was very hard on my nails. She used a dremel tool to not only take the top coat of gel off, but kept going further down and taking all the gel off (and some of my nail, too). She was very impatient with soaking my nails, so when the gel wasn't ready to come off on its own she used a metal scraper and then a rough emery board to sand off the gel (and again the top of my nail). A few times during all this she ended up hitting my skin with the dremel or poking me with the scraper. Ouch!Also, I noticed (too late) that the emery board and buffer she used were not new, i.e. had been used before, which is a total violation of California health code since it can spread disease. Also the UVB curing lamp was so strong it made my nails hurt! I haven't ever had that experience before. I will say that my nails look nice now, but so much damage was done in the process I suspect they will be much the worse for wear when the gel comes off. NOT worth it. Read Less

This place is so deceiving from the outside! You walk in and it's a huge salon. This first things I noticed were the condition of the massage chairs for pedicures-- PRISTINE! This place was so clean, spacious, and actually RELAXING. My best friend and I were able to SIT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. This is something we could never manage at other Scotts Valley salons... they were way too crowded and busy. For once I didn't feel like cattle being herded in and out.JENNIFER was our manicurist and she was amazing! She gave us both immaculate DIP MANICURES. She even explained to us how she shaped the nails with the dip and she wasn't rushed. Will be returning here as our permanent choice! Highly recommend! Read Less

Walked in no appointment and they helped me after a short wait. I had my color changed on my nail tips. Powder and then gel. Since I was the only one left I got star treatment. The nail tech wasn't in a hurry and did a great job. Best nail place in Scotts Valley and also Felton. I've been going for a few years and recommend them highly. If you need to be sure they have a tech when you want your nails done then call ahead for an appointment. Read Less

My favorite nail salon in town.  I get acrylic with gel polish.  Jennifer is my favorite tech she takes her time and makes you feel like she genuinely enjoys doing nails.  Other places you feel like you're being rushed in and out.  If you want to get your nails done make an appointment with Jennifer! This was my second time going in to get my nails done and I have never been so disappointed! They did acrylics while getting a gel pedicure not at the table. The gal that did my pedicure did not even massage my legs at all... I asked for square shape on my nails and they did round, the filing was uneven, and the polish was uneven thick and lumpy. I left the salon directly to my car and had to manicure my own nails to make them look "" presentable. I should not have to do this after paying over $100 to get this done! I came in at the end of the day but I did call and specify what I wanted and they told me to come in and they would take care of it it was no problem at all, the professional thing to do would have been to say no we don't have time to do that the best thing is to come in another day so we can really do our best job!! My girlfriend and I were the only ones in there, and it was very obviously convenient that we were being trashed talked the whole time and we both felt extremely uncomfortable. Read Less

This place is clean and the massage chairs are  relaxing.  Ask for Kim or Hing if you want the best results for a manicure or pedicure.  They don't ask you a ton of questions about your love life either... LOL! Read Less

My mom and I go a couple times a month for the past few years. All of the girls are so sweet and wonderful! The place is always clean and spotless. The longest I've ever waited to get seen was about 5-10minutes. I love this place and I highly recommend it!! Read Less

Pros:Helped us, my daughter and I, right away, we walked in no appointment. Lots of color choices.Some of the ladies where really friendly.They offered us drinks.The prices were listed on the wall and the little pedicure menu.Good leg massage.My pinky toe got messed up when she put my flip flop on and she fixed it right away. They were really good about making sure the temperature of everything was ok for me. Cons:I specifically asked the woman doing my pedicure not to cut down the side of my big toe nail because I get ingrown toenails easily...she did it anyway.My gel nails are kind of askew. I think this is becauae they were doing my manicure while they were doing my pedicure and I had to reach across my body with my right hand. Not a great foot massage.Could have been a little more agressive with the heel scrub but then again my feet were pretty bad. Some ladies did not speak English at all. We had to talk to 1 lady who translated to 2 others.I know they were talking about me in their language which bugs the crap out of me. Overall I would go back if I can't find a better place but I am going to keep looking for a place I love and feel is worth the $100+ I spent.... Read Less

I've been to this place many many times and it's always been hit or miss. Sometimes my nails look fabulous and other times they're ok. Why do I keep going? That's because it's the closest nail place. However today was a whole other story! I got my nails done a week ago and they looked fabulous! It was a wonderful pink French gel polish. I left very happy! Three days later they started to pull up and peal off. Jennifer, the manicurist and I think manager, had put the gel too close on my cuticles and the gel polish pulled up. I was getting water trapped underneath all my nails by day five so I pulled them off and went in today to get them redone. Long story short, the lady insinuated that she didn't do my nails last week and then had another woman paint them. The woman did a bad job. There's still flakes of gold from the previous nail color now cooked into my clear gel polish. I asked her three times to fix several different fingers but after the third time I gave up! Then to top it off she asked for my member card. When I showed it to her said that there wasn't a stamp on it from the last time with Jennifer's initials, insinuating once again that I hadn't originally gotten my nails done from her last week. I took out my phone to show her the bank charge thanks to my Bofa app. Then to top it off she STILL insisted on charging me $15 for my polish change I got to FIX what they had done wrong a week ago!!! "Satisfaction Guaranteed" is a lie!!I will never go here again. You'll see in the pic where she clearly missed the previous gold nail polish. That was even after pointing out several nails with the same problem including the ones in the pictures. Never again! I'll go to Queen Nails one block away from now on. Read Less

Fancy nails is a wonderful new nail salon in Scotts Valley. The employees are very friendly, the Space is incredibly clean and they have every OPI nail polish color you could ask for.. Not to mention they do a great job. I would highly recommend them. Read Less

I am happy to say that I was one of their first customers. I loved the place. It was so clean and bright. All of the workers were extremely friendly.
