I went for a gel manicure and pedicure and to start, the pedicure felt great BUT the lady cut my toenails before asking... I have never been to a place that doesn't ask if you want a cut down or file... and to make it worse she cut them short and round! My "gel" manicure peeled on day 3!! I have walked-in for the past three visits for a pedi! Its a small shop, but clean and the nail-smell is minimal. The price is great and the people are really sweet! You probably should make an appointment, but I haven't had any issues with walking in, but I come at varying times of the day. I'm sure there are busier times than others. Went here for the first time today, was a little nervous trying a new place. (I had my eyebrows worked on) staff was nice, the facility was clean and it was cheap. So disappointed :( had an appointment for a set and pedicure the day before flying out to my sisters wedding (which I'm the maid of honor in) saw good reviews and figured I'd try this salon. My set with a French manicure was done in such a sloppy way. Had glue all over my hands and the manicurist did too... but kept going causing more glue to get everywhere. She was having a hard time glueing some of my nails on and kept adding more glue which created a bumpy nail surface. Ok, I was thinking she'd file it down and it would be ok. Eventually they switch my manicure to another lady. The glue was not filed down and then when the acrylic was put on it was done in a clumpy and uneven way... on top of the clumpy glue. AND the tops of my nails were cut unevenly. Again, I'm thinking this is a new place for me maybe they correct these things later in their process. They did not. The lady said I was ready to go and I was stunned. I pointed that my nails were cut crooked and the tops of my nails were bumpy and uneven. She was very nice and filed my nails and fixed the top of my one unsmooth nail. She let me know that it was filed smoothly at first and the gel created the lump (oh ok... that must be what happened to all of them?) so now my nails are mostly even at the tops so that's cool. And I guess my nails that are laying on my fingers slanted won't be too noticeable in my sisters wedding pictures. Underneath my nails are just gross. I have paint and glue all over my hands. I'm just devastated. How much do you ask for them to fix what looks terrible? The lady even corrected my French pedicure which had crooked lines and said she's not sure why the lines on my nails aren't 'showing' straight and was blaming my nails. They jacked up my toenails so bad that they gave me $10 off my pedicure without me even asking. I'm almost embarrassed to walk around with sandals looking at the toenails on my right foot. Plus they made me bleed... And she kept dousing my toe in alcohol as if that were going to heal it instantly. The owner of the salon could tell my nail gal was struggling so she came over and took over immediately. My finger nails aren't quite as bad but they don't look good. Definitely polish on my cuticles, which just looks stupid. I just moved to Santee and this place looked promising based on other yelp reviews. I deff should have read the reviews before I came here. 25 bucks for a French tip pedicure is not to unreasonable. But this lady gave me super crooked lines and I probably could have done a better job myself at home. Thy offered to fix them for me but why wouldnt you just try the fist time? the service wasn't unfriendly, but the out come is crap. THANK GOD I DIDnT LET THEM TOUCH MY BROWS. Tried this place and will not be back.  They were friendly and the place seemed clean.  However, my technician didn't seem to understand me.  I asked her twice to round my nails but left with them square and ended up filing them round when I got home.  Also, they have a very large TV right in front of where you sit, which would be fine, except they had the Sci-Fi channel on and the horror movie Carrie was playing!  It is NOT relaxing to sit there and hear blood-curdling screams as you are getting a pedicure.  Also, my manicure did not last long at all; it began chipping just two days after. It's my fiancées and I first time trying Santee Nails out. 1st off the bat I like that this establishment is very clean.You could hardly smell the fumes of nail polish in the air.They use a fresh plastic bag in the water foot bowls for each individual person that gets their pedicure done, which is very sanitary. The pedicure massage chairs are huge and comfy. They hand you the remote and your relaxing with a massage on your back. After clipping the nails, they soak your feet, scrub your feet underneath the foot, they massage your leg and calf which feels amazing. They buff out your nails it's a good experience here. Overall: IMO, Inconsistant quality.1st and 2nd times were good gel coat manicures. Same person.3rd time, different person, Gel Coat, This time, Not very good, girl was distracted by looking and talking to co workers, while working on my nails. Results were Lack of coverage to nail bed and sides and globs of excess and areas of less color. She wanted to put 2nd coat, I knew that would not fix it. So I paid and left. I have always loved​ Santee Nails. But I've noticed a decline in service over the last couple years. The ladies are sweet and used to take good care of me. They get really busy sometimes and have to rush, so I always try to call first to see how many people are there. I love my nails. I only say this because a year ago all I did was bite my nails and I got tired of how raggedy they looked so I decided to grow them out. I had gone to Santee Nails for nye and the service was amazing. I love that they take their time. I love if their is an issue they are quick to fix it. I even adore how they are honest with customers if they are busy. I have been to nail salons that tell you just wait 10 mins, and 30 mins later you are still waiting. They recently did some upgrades so new pedicure chairs and manicure tables, and they added a ton of new gel colors. Alright and the reason for this post is for the awesome Mei. For awhile there I was seeing Jen, who was amazing but she went back to school and the schedules were conflicting so I switched over to Mei for convince. I adore them both but Mei well her nails make me happy. I get tons and I mean tons of compliments on my nails. What I'm asking for isn't no easy job either and she has always always risen to the occasion. These aren't tips just my natural nail with gel and art. They are shaped well, the polish last till I go back, but most important they make me smile. Mei deserves an awesome review for her awesome service. Read Less

I'm not really one to write bad reviews unless absolutely necessary. I love writing good reviews, however this is one that needs to be noted. I have never been here before, read some really good reviews especially from new customers as I am one myself. Disappointed from the moment I looked at the nail colors. They may have a good selection for gel colors and for acrylics but def not for regular colors. All their colors need to be shaken up because apparently they haven't ever been used before. Hip did my pedicure, which is all I came in for. Now, Hip has done my pedicure before at Tippy Toes and Nails and I freaking loved it. His attention to detail is not of this world let alone universe. So I thought I could trust him entirely. I was halfway wrong. My pedicure took all of 30 mins. Usually ALL of my pedicures take at the least 1 he. He hardly did a massage. And when he was doing this so called "massage" it was like he was just rubbing my legs. Callus remover is included in their basic $20 pedicure which is nice. The polish looks good and Hip took his time to clean up any polish that strayed. Hence why I'm giving 3 stars. The place is nice. I just think some people need to spend a lil more time on each of their customers, not just returning ones. Read Less

I've been here a few times and I've always had good experiences when Brit or Nikki does my nails but the last 2 times I've gone, a lady with very short hair and kind of boyish clothes did my nails. I don't know what her name was but she's not very experienced and both time I've had her I wasn't happy with the result and when I got my nails done on st Patrick's Day my thumb nail fell off the same night I was going to get it fixed the following morning but my fingers hurt and I noticed small cuts around my cuticle on multiple fingers so when my nails are finished healing I will be finding a new place to go Read Less

Pros:* No wait (late morning during the week)* Seemed clean* A good pedicure * Reasonable prices... Kind of...  You get what you pay for.Cons:* Poor selection of non-gel colors.  There was not a wide variety, and one color I liked looked like it was liquified--very watered down.  It looked like there was water or maybe clear polish in there.* The worst manicure I have every paid for in my life.  I got my manicure and pedicure done at the same time.  During both, I was zoning out.  Why?  Well, it's nice to zone out and relax every once and awhile. Also, I guess I TRUST that the work is being done well and that I don't have to analyze every detail.  (I was wrong in that assumption.)  The manicure was done super quick--record time.  I really didn't think anything about it since pedicures usually take longer.  Towards the end of the pedicure, I looked down at my nails.  They were terribly done (see pictures).First of all, there was polish and clear coat all around the nail bed.  I then realized that the technician did not take the 3 extra minutes to clean up the edges with remover/a brush.  The color I got was really light, so maybe she thought I wouldn't notice the sloppy work?  Or maybe she just forgot?  Either way, I was pretty upset.Next, it looked like this technician did not trim my cuticles.  I realized that she, in fact, did NOT trim them.  She simply removed my previous polish, filed the nails, buffed them, did a micro-mini massage, and did the sloppiest paint job I have ever seen.  Annoyed with myself for not paying attention and catching this lack of cuticle trimming sooner, I decided to just tell them to clean up the edges of the extraneous paint and top coat.  I told the pedicurist as she was finishing my toes, and she asked another worker.  The technician who originally did the terrible job was busy with someone else, so the pedicure technicians had to clean up her mess.  The original tech insincerely said "sorry" and kind of laughed about it.Another issue with this place is that while they seem to be very close with regulars, which is good, they did not seem to care about new customers.  I am not saying they needed to ask me my life story, but they should have--at the very least--done a good job in their work.This place has good reviews, so I gave it a try.  It looks like SOME of the employees may care and do a good job--especially on gel, nail design, etc.  However, on a basic manicure, it did not seem like they cared, and they were clearly incompetent with two huge mistakes.  I never knew that a manicure could be done so terribly.  I can trim and file my own nails and crappily paint them myself at home and save $12.If you need a basic manicure, DO NOT COME HERE.  I do not recommend this place at all. The pedicure was solid: No parts were skipped and the tech actually seemed to care.  Good massage too.  Despite this, I will not come back to this salon ever again since they can't seem to do a basic manicure. I got a mani/pedi and french tip acrylics and I am very disappointed. First off, the woman who painted my toes did not do a good job. She used way too much polish and it dried in a very uneven way. It looks like it got smudged already. Second, do not let the dyke do your nails! I'm pretty sure she does not have a certificate to do nails. She has very bad eyesight. She kept filing my nails and making them uneven. Every time she put powder on my nails she would miss spots. My nails came out bulky in some places and completely bare in other places. After 2 and a half hours of that another woman took over and tried to fix them. They are still bulky and uneven and most of them are coming off after 3 days.Read Less

They are very real as far as wait times goes. They won't tell you yeah five, ten mins and take an hour. If it's busy they will give you a realistic wait time or even a better time to come back. Horrible customer service and because the technician rushed, my fingers got cut on the sides, tops and cuticles. I was waiting, another customer came in after me, that customer was taken ahead of me while I was told to wait. When I finally sat down with the owner she started my refill, then stopped halfway through to take and appointment that had been waiting (who also came in after me). I was asked to move. Then when an additional technician was brought in, instead of finishing my nails she took another customer (at the direction of the owner) that had also been waiting after me. I was forced to wait (approx. 45 minutes) for the owner to finish the appointments full refill & polish before she finished my nails. Customer service should be put over greed. Read Less

So disappointed in this place. My girlfriend gave rave reviews so I had to go check it out. My pedicure was done by someone who definitely did not have a cosmetologist license. When doing my pedicure she dropped a tool on the floor, wiped it on her towel, and kept going. Now I'm no snob, I'll eat food with the 5 second rule in effect, but ANY other nail salon I've been to that drops a tool, sanitizes it and then resumes. The pedicure is already chipping. It happened 2 days after. Unacceptable. My gel manicure is no better. I'm not hard on my hands but having the gel bubble and chip off 2 days after is not ok. The place is cheaper than most but it's for a reason. I will have to go back to my normal place and redo their bad job. Read Less

She rubbed my arms with cuticle oil, filed my nails AFTER the gel manicure, and rather than using acetone to clean up some polish that was on my skin, used cuticle clippers, Emory board, and her own nails to dig the polish and skin away. I have had my nails done many places none of which come close to turning out how I ask for them, and all of which left me critiquing the nail "artist" as she glued my tip on crooked or left bubbles before I left shop, or as often happened cut my skin to the point of bleeding.NONE OF THAT HAPPENS AT SANTEE NAILS! I have 2 kids and no longer regularly get my nails done however I call Mai to make an appointment and she immediately knows who I am and asked how my husband and daughter are. I am amazed at their ability to come as close to perfect as they can. I have never left this salon unhappy and if anything happens they are happy to fix it. Mai and her girls are not afraid of a challenge and always leave me ecstatic with my full set.They work wonders on toes and can do wonderful design work as well as get those pesky ingrowns out without hurting you. I love this shop and feel stupid going anywhere else as I always end up right back here.I do recommend an appointment as Mai values her time and will not rush her customers to fit anyone in :-) Read Less

First time here and I was very happy. I came in at a good time as everyone was headed out so the lovely Jennifer was able to take care of me right away. She was very sweet and gentle and most importantly, she did a great job! The real test will be to see how long these puppies last ;) It was $27 for my gel fills so the price is pretty average. This is a convenient location for me so I'm hopeful these will last as long as when I used to get them done by another lady (whom I loooved, but she sold the business). Overall, I'm glad I stopped in here.update as of 10/17The nails held up ok but needed filling within 2 weeks :( as they started to lift and crack. Read Less
