Tru Beauty is a lovely salon up the street from where I work. I have been coming here on and off for months, but have become a regular customer because of friendly technicians Grace and Helen. They are always accommodating with last minute appointments (I usually call ahead, day of) and flexible if you want to add a service. My favorite salon on the west side by far. Loveee my nails! My girlfriends and I made mani & pedi appts for after work on a Tuesday and they were packed. Even though we made an appt they didn't have pedicure chairs next to us reserved for us. So I would suggest that you come here for a solo mani + pedi because it might be hard to find seats next to each other.The guy did my mani & pedi and it looks gorgeous. He did an almond shape on my real nails and they don't even look real. The color was nice and shiny, not diluted. The salon is really nice too! First time impressions:PROS: Nice vibe, great 'chill' music and very clean.CONS: Though they had only one other client, they sat me right next to her and she was having a very smelly fingernail process done. (acrylics? silk?). The fumes were just awful, not to mention the random, flying nail debris I must've been inhaling from the continual, vigorous filing. Of course the technician had a face mask on for protection, but I the customer was not so fortunate.I got the basic pedicure which, while uninspired, was adequately done. BUT: Perhaps she was bummed I didn't want the extra callous removal, because for foot exfoliation I literally got three quick swipes of the pumice stone on each heel. That's it! And the foot/leg massage? Maybe 15 seconds on each leg. My toes now look fine, but there was just no pampering AT ALL, and who knows what crap is in my lungs from the client sitting next to me. Been going here off and on (mostly off) for more than a year and after this last experience, I won't be going back again.  Made an appt for a mani/pedi.  A young man started my mani and was almost done before I noticed that no one was coming to do my pedi.  I asked the young man if he was doing both my mani/pedi and he said no, the next available person would do my pedi.  Well, that person never showed up.  The workers in the salon took walk in's and never addressed my pedi.  I HAD AN APPOINTMENT mind you.  I told the guy that I didn't want a pedi at that point because I was almost done with my mani.  Ugh!Here's the real disrespect... One older nail tech lady came over to me and took my back pillow and gave it to someone else!  She literally took it from my back, adjusted my seat so that I was sitting upright, and walked away with my pillow.  She mumbled if that was ok, and I said NO, I'm not comfortable.  She didn't care and walked off.  NEVER AGAIN!  That's not the first time I've had horrible service there but I promise you it will be my last! Came here to get an emergency pedicure today and Tru Beauty is really as good as it gets! I loved everything about my experience from beginning to end. I was in the area and really frustrated over my dry heels which needed some major work done. Tru Beauty fit me in, despite a busy house and my technician was very informative on what causes the dry heels and how to home remedy it to prevent it from happening again. He recommended the callus treatment as well as the sea salt scrub. Both additions enhanced my pedicure majorly. He also took the time to cut my cuticles carefully and pampered my feet back to perfection. Thank you Mando!I also really love how many amazing OPI and Essie colors they have here. The polish wall was organized by color which made choosing so much easier. It felt like they seriously had every color under the sun! I'm excited to come back and try all of their amazing services. Consistent service & results.  Like most of us, I am very particular about beauty treatments: hair, nails, waxes, facials, etc.  I routinely get my nails (shellac, regular manicure, pedicure) and waxing treatments done here (Brazilian, facial and eyebrow).  Linda is fabulous with waxing and makes you feel extremely comfortable and relaxed, especially for Brazilians I always leave more than satisfied, and my nails last at least two weeks with working out and being clumsy with my hands (shellac manicure).  I would highly recommend this salon for all the services mentioned above, and anything else they offer.  Also, Linda is fantastic with microblading! She does an excellent job and makes sure you are completely satisfied.  This can be an intimidating procedure to undergo, and it's nice to know she has so much attention to detail with shape and color of your results. Used to be a great shop.Now, there's always some drama going on between the owner, Linda, and her staff. So much so that you can't enjoy your service because the owner is rushing around with an attitude and the technicians are disgruntled. There's so much infighting over clients that it makes it uncomfortable for patrons. Not to mention, prices keep increasing, yet the quality of service is decreasing. Additionally, when you call in during the week, your call is either routed to voicemail or answered by someone who speaks very little English and is very curt on the phone.My last service prompted a follow-up call to Linda. And somehow my call was placed on speaker phone because I heard the owner's boyfriend mocking my complaint. This was totally unprofessional. I was livid, but it wasn't worth confronting the owner or her boyfriend on the phone because these places are a dime a dozen in the area and I will be happy to spend my money elsewhere.My suggestion: Be selective about where you spend your money and time. Don't settle for a shop where you're subjected to unprofessional behavior and bad attitudes. Read Less

I love Tru Beauty Nail Spa. It's conveniently a 2 minute drive from my house, and there is always tons of street parking! (Tip: don't try parking in the back, there's only 1 spot and it's always taken!) But lots of meters in the front and side street. Tru Beauty Nail Spa is so clean! I'm next level OCD and the cleanliness here is 100% worth every penny. They have a million colors to chose from and different brands, which I hear is a big deal. (I'm a boring person and paint my nails white every time!)I love Judy she's my go to girl. As I mentioned I have crazy OCD I'm very particular about how my nails are filed and Judy will always go the extra mile to make sure I'm happy with the shape of my nails. She's always on time and ready for my appointment and makes me feel very taken care of. On the off occasion that I have to do my nails when Judy isn't around I'll go to Mando he's always great. I went for the first time to this nail salon because it had good reviews online. Through a series of events, I probably wouldn't return or at least will try a number of other places first. To begin, their customer service needs improvement. The female (I believe owner) at the front desk is abrasive and uncommunicative. When I came in for an upgraded mani & pedi, I was initially seated with a man and female (not sure of names), the female working on my toes and the male on my finger nails. I wasn't particular keen on this arrangement of getting my nails done in the pedicure chair in that I had no resting place for my hands so I felt like I was in a constant shuffling my hands back and forth. The informality and quickness contributed to a mediocre nail job both in filing and polish. About 5-10 minutes after my pedicure began, I was informed that the woman doing my pedi would be replaced by someone else because one of her clients arrived. I normally wouldn't have minded too much but I thought it was slightly rude to not complete the work started and it made me feel less important than her client, who by the way spent substantially less than I did for services. The salon was pretty clean. All nail tools came in sterilized bags. Believe it or not I've been to other salons where this wasn't the case. However, I received a callous treatment for the bottom of my feet and after the treatment was done, was instructed to dunk my feet into the tub to wash off the dead skin. Next, I got a scrub for my legs and the manicurists proceeded to use the same dirty water of dead skin to wash my legs off after the scrub. It was really disgusting. Read Less

Good services but I don't appreciate that they don't have a tip line on receipt and they charge you a dollar to pay. But they lie to you. I took a patient there and he can't give too much of a tip. He's disabled. Seeing how disabled he is they still took the dollar on purpose because he left a $4 tip so they felt that he was stingy and it wasn't that. Ok so this review is partial, because I ended up not getting my nails done, I sat down but I walked out.I've been going to Bellacures on Montana for years, I absolutely love them, but I wanted to see if there are any other good nail salons near my place in Santa Monica, so I yelped it, and I decided to go to Tru beauty which is few blocks from me. Some review said twice they have been there, credit card machine was broken both times, but I thought maybe their credit card machine was really broken and it should be fixed now.I made an appointment with Tiffany as many reviews said she's great, then I was able to find a spot on the street (it was 11am on Tuesday).I walked into the place, it was small and kinda dark, immediately I didn't really like the place, I guess it's not fancy enough for me...The older lady checked me in and sat me down, started to scrub my nail, and she said, BTW, the credit card machine is not working, just today... What?! Just today? Yea right... The review was right, I guess their Credit card machine never works!! This was my first visit at this nail salon. My regular guy at another salon was booked, I was desperate to have my nails done for an event so gave Tru Beauty a try. I had acrylic nails and a basic pedicure. Everything looked fine. The acrylics were a little thicker than I like but still looked fine, especially once they painted them with a thin white line on the tips on and added a beautiful floral design on one of my nails.
