After having my hair done by the same stylist for years, I was a little nervous finding a new place when I came to Santa Monica. Lucky to have discovered Coloration Bar and put my hair into Shari's hands. She is super professional, but also fun and kind and incredibly skilled in her aesthetic approach. I asked for highlights, and she has a great eye for  color and a perfectionist attention to detail. Clearly a stylist who chooses to take the time and produce beautiful art. While my stylist did do an excellent job with the blow dry and trim for my hair, I was shocked at the end to have an additional $50 added on to my bill. When I booked online, the booking came up to $70, throughout the appointment there was no conversation or check in about the time or amount of product being used causing the price to go up. Additionally, I was told the appointment took too long, but I arrived 15 mins early to a 4:45 appointment and didn't even get sat in the stylists chair until 5. While my hair turned out nice, I have to give a less than stellar review do to the lack of communication about price for the products and services. I'm in love with my hair!!! Today I stopped by this sheik salon because I needed a cut and style. Mary educated me on my hair type and how to maintain my hair. I paid for just a cut and style and I walked away with a light and heathy head of hair and knowledge that will last me a lifetime! I'm just blown away! Wow! I was nervous after reading some of the reviews, but I read on insta that  Coloration Bar is under new management and ownership since September so I went in for a blow-out, and am I happy I did! Natalie, the new owner, has curated such an inviting environment and allof the stylists that work there are so sweet AND i could not be happier with the work they did. I stopped by the salon last Wednesday without an appointment because i was desperate to get my roots done and hair blown out before a big event I had that night.  Lisa one of the stylists accommodated me after her last client.  She was so warm and friendly and even explained how how to take care of my hair.  My hair is very coarse and long but she assured me she could handle it.  She explained that her sisters had similar hair.  When she was done I was so pleased with the outcome that I had to write a Yelp Review.  Let me also mention the place is adorable and so conveniently located.Some of these negative reviews must have been written before the new owner took over who by the way was there.  I believe her name was Natalie.  She introduced herself and offered me refreshments which was a nice touch.  Thank you Coloration Bar I will definitely be coming back.  Your staff is AWESOME XOXO!!!!!!!!!!!! I decided to try coloration bar and made an appointment for Tuesday 9/5/17 with jasmine for a cut and blow dry. What a great experience! Horrible. Asked for half a head of very fine natural looking highlights. I'm a dark blond. What I got was yellow stripes!! Burned my scalp under the dryer and kept reapplying bleach. So bad I had to get lowlights put in somewhere else. They have no clue about coloration. Read Less

I went in on a whim to get my hair chopped off into a bob!!! Scary ! But I couldn't have been happier! I got a full highlight, blow out cut and mask for an unbelievable price! I'm planning on going back from now on for my hair cuts. I'm a blonde so it's VERY hard to trust people with my hair. Great service and great work and very timely! In and out within 1.5 hours. For a very reasonable price, I get a beautiful haircut, color with highlights and blowout.
