I would highly recommend One Carat Mani Pedi to anyone that wanted a quality nail service. They are so attentive to detail and use the best products. They sterilize their tools and keep them in sanitary packets until It's time to use them. They have a huge selection of opi polishes and gel colors. They don't do acrylic but I wasn't interested in that anyway. They are on the upstairs flat of 1329 Salon and Spa and have three stations available so don't expect to be able to get a massive bridal party in and out at the same time. Because they are so talented they do book up pretty fast so plan on booking an appointment instead of hoping they can take you as a walk in. Read Less

Came here for a manicure today (I forgot the name, maybe its "one carat"?) - it included a manicure, massage, and paraffin. I had the male technician, I believe his name is Thanh. He was great. Chatted w me and sooo gentle and thorough. I am extremely squeamish and hate getting my nails done Bc I'm always afraid the technician will cut me or something. Not here!! He was so gentle and I barely felt anything. The hand massage was great and he was very conscientious of the small details (i.e. Asking whether it was okay that my bracelet was still on for the massage).Small salon (3 chairs) but extensive nail polish collection (and all OPI). Also I noticed they use sterilized instruments (in sterilized packs) and small, disposable files/buffers.No major issues scheduling appts and a nice nail polish to boot. I'm one happy camper! I tried this salon on a whim because the place I usually go was booked. Off the bat I got a bad first impression. The Male manicurist did not even greet me or look me in the eye just pointed to the chair. He was very grumpy the entire time and kept mumbling under his breath and it made me very uncomfortable. Aside from that it took TWO hours for a gel manicure! The place I usually go is 45 min top. I've never had a gel manicure take so long in my life I was itching to leave at that point. I would give this place a 0 star rating if possible, this is one of the worst manicures I've ever had. Not only do they charge extra for shellac they have a surcharge for previous shellac removal. The woman who did my nail was nice but was ridiculously slow - I told her that I didn't want the massage, extras and it still took her over an hour! Also, even though I got shellac, my nails chipped the next day! I've been getting shellac for years and this has never happened! This place is TINY, but the girls take good care of you!  I felt my mani pedi was worth the cost, but you feel like you need to get out ASAP to make room for the next appointment.  Because I did this, my nails didn't dry and were ruined on one hand.  I could have just hung out downstairs drying, which I would recommend. Ticca is the best!! The standard of gel mani and pedicure is that of Los Angeles: perfection.I live in Solvang.  Which is cute but not recommended for these services.  It's all about tourism which means no repeat clients.  But what of the locals?  Right.  Having said that, I travel to Santa Barbara every 2 weeks to get in a chair and have my feet and hands treated beautifully.Thank you Ticca for your services, artistry and care. This place saved the day!  We had gone for a mani/pedi at a different business and when my daughter walked out in tears, we called this place to see if they could fit us in to fix my daughters mani. I got the "basic" pedicure today, and Ticca did a fantastic job!  She paid attention to the details, and my toenails look great.  She was also super gentle...I'd had an accident a few weeks back where someone stepped on my big toe and broke my toenail in half.  Even though it was mostly healed when I came for my pedicure, it was still a bit tender, which I pointed out to Ticca.  She was very careful and considerate, and still managed to shape the broken nail beautifully with absolutely no pain for me!  So, if you're looking for someone who does a gorgeous and meticulous job, go to Ticca!  I will definitely be back. I am the type of person who only gets manicures for special occasions so $40 + tip for gel manicure is a little expensive for my taste BUT (!) I do like this salon. It's almost like getting a mani and pedi in your living room. They have lots of nail polish choices and my manicure has lasted two weeks, no problem. This place was nice. Its in a lofted space above a salon and it's well decorated. There are three seats for pedicures and an extra area just for manicures. I got a gel manicure with a pedicure and it ended being close to $100. The girl giving me the manicure and pedicure was very sweet but the entire service took probably around 2 hours and she made me pay extra for painting glitter on my ring fingers. Wow.  Very poor customer service.  I live on the East Coast and work full time so needed go communicate via email to make a reservation for Mother's Day.  I emailed 5 days in advance, went back and forth and was told I had a reservation.  I then got an email on Friday (most people work and can't be so quick to respond) and then was on a cross country flight Saturday morning.  I saw another email when I landed and called.  They had given away my reservation for 3 people.  Reason: I have to give a credit card so that IF I cancel 24 hrs in advance they can charge me.  What?  So that means I needed to get them a credit card by 4 pm today so that if I canceled after that hey could charge me.  That means they basically run their business assuming you will cancel.  That is crazy!  Why would I cancel a Mother's Day appointment?This is the first Yelp review I have written after joining 12 years ago.  That is how strongly I feel that this is a poor way to run a business. 5 stars for Ticca at One Carat Mani & Pedi! Fellow Yelp reviewers, you led me right on this one. :)I have been here a few times now. The level of service and cleanliness are what really sets this salon apart. I know that the tools have been sanitized in an autoclave, and that the remaining items (ie. nail buffer, the scrubby thing for your feet, etc) are brand new and only used for me. The plastic pedicure bins also have plastic liners to avoid any cross-contamination. Now, the set-up here is a bit odd, as you need to enter 1329 Salon and Spa then go up the staircase to the small loft upstairs. You will see 3 gray lounge chairs for clients. Ticca works at the chair nearest the railing overlooking the salon. Vanessa and the other nail technician use the 2 other chairs. For manicures, they will give you a pillow and towel to put on your lap, then they scoot on up and work in front of you. You will not be at a desk like in other salons, and you don't soak your fingers in water beforehand. For pedicures, they have to schlep a big bucket with water in from a different room. HIGHLIGHTS:-Ticca is always on time. I've never had to sit around and wait for her! You will definitely need to make an appointment to go here. I like being able to text to make appointments btw.-Impeccable service. Ticca checks with me to confirm that I like the nail shape, the nail color, and more. She wants me to be happy, and I can tell! She is always very *present* and attentive during appointments, if that makes sense. I don't get the feeling that she's bored and her mind is elsewhere. -My nails are awesome afterwards. She really spends awhile making sure they're perfect. She removes hang nails, pushes back the cuticle, and paints the color perfectly. Trust me- I spent awhile investigating and looking at them afterwards, cuz I'm a nut like that. -They have a bajillion nail colors to choose from! So many- it's hard to choose. I think they are all by OPI.LOWLIGHTS:-It's a bit pricey for me to maintain ($42 for a gel manicure and $38 for a 'basic' pedicure, which is actually quite nice and relaxing and not at all basic to me). Best mani/pedi I've ever had. They polish close to the cuticle line so after a week my nails still looked fresh. I've never had a mani last as long as the one I got here. The techs are great. Plus they have a ton of color options. The salon is super clean and organized. These are the downsides for me. I like super fast mani/pedis and they take a little longer and they are pricier than other places in town. But my nails literally looked perfect so I'll be back! Read Less

One Carat Mani & Pedi is a FANTASTIC place to pamper your nails! I cannot rave how much I LOVE this place! The three knowledgeable  technicians there can not only to put you at ease, but can answer questions you may have regarding your nails. I personally see Ticca, and have been going for about a year! She is a kind and gentle woman, who remembers little nuances about me and the conversations we have. Isn't that great! It's always a pleasant experience with her. (: I would highly recommend getting gels here. The salon always has the latest polishes OPI comes out with seasonally. They carry both Essie and OPI, but the collection mainly consists of OPI. They offer to do designs too! I always get a little design on my fingers. The ladies are very talented too! However, if you want to get a design on your nails, you need to ask for extra time when you book for the appointment.The ladies get pretty busy, so booking might be a hassle if you don't make an appointment ahead of time! I can't figure out why this is a 4+ star rating. What's the hype? My only guess is the ambiance is quite nice but, the overall value just isn't there. Deduct one star for hassle. Had to book an appointment way in advance with a big scheduling conversation with the receptionist that included calls and texts. Forget dropping in on this place altogether. PLUS... You have to give them a credit card in advance which I would expect for a $300 haircut in L.A. but not a $38 pedi. I thought "I guess it's amazing so, I'll try it" however, it was not amazing; it was below average.Deduction of one star for price... For a "basic" pedicure I was at $45 out the door including tip and I've had better pedicures for $20.Deduct one star for quality of product. I go to the beach almost every day and the pedicurist left sand on the side of one of my toenail and I'm still looking at sand in the nail polish. My toenails were cut strangely based on the shape of my feet. Of my experience getting pedicures everyone else has filed my toenails slightly round; here they were cut straight across and each one is at different angles so they look really silly if you look up close. Third, minimal scrubbing and massage. The two ladies in the chairs next to me got a way better pedi but, probably had the $50 or $80 pedicure. I feel like for $45, it should have been a better spa-like experience. I just don't think this is a $40-80 pedicure salon other than the quiet upstairs loft and the color selection. I can see three girlfriends booking it all at the same time for the privacy but, that just didn't apply to me. When I spent $45 I was thinking I would get a great experience but, I feel like I've had better $25 pedicures.The short review is; I just didn't think this was a good value. This woman's hunt for the perfect nail salon in SB specializing in gel nail art is finally over. I am overly ecstatic!!!My nails are well manicured 99.9% of the time, if you ever see me and they are not there is probably a crisis occurring. That said, I enjoy designs on my nails to spice up the plain jane solid colored manicure. ONE CARAT is a two woman show... Appointment necessary. Located upstairs of the 1329 Salon is this cute, boutiquey nail salon. It's impeccably clean, cozy, modern, girly ....everything you could want for your biweekly pampering indulgence. OPI is the only line carried for gels, looked like for regular polishes OPI and Essie are available. A vast color selection to choose from. The instruments are sterilized and opened in front of you. The chair is cozy, only downside is that it does not massage but I promise you'll get past that. Water, tea, or coffee served upon arrival. Vanessa was my technician and she is sweet, friendly, and does a thorough job! It seemed like the other lady is similar although I did not personally interact with her. The ladies keep track of what colors they have used on you, a nice Touch ID you ever loved a color and want to try it again.I was weary of the OPI as I am typically a Gelish fan (bad experiences in the past) however my nails look fantastic still! Excellent manicure! I have been wanting to come here for a long while and today's  experience did not disappoint! I came here today for gel removed and basic manicure. The salon is located in the loft of 1329 Salon. It's a very small, but cute space and they have an amazing nail polish selection- mostly OPI and a few Essie. The prices are very fair too. Basic Mani: $20. The service was wonderful and extremely relaxing. I was offered tea, water, or coffee upon arrival. Ticca, who did my nails, took great pride in making sure I got exactly what I wanted. Whether is was having me check the shape of my nails after she filed them, or trying multiple polish colors on me until I found my favorite one, or even asking if I wanted a third coat of polish, she wasn't happy until I was happy. Which made me happy :)Ticca was also incredibly sweet and knowledge about nail health. She taught me a lot about proper care for nails, vitamins to take to improve nail health, and how often to use gel polish. Despite all of this talk about nail care, I loved that she didn't try to sell me anything! Even though I know she sells a few nail care products. Although I didn't get gel this time, she also informed me that the salon doesn't have UV drying lights, rather they have LED, which is so much better for you. Next time I get gel, I'm coming here for sure! The only downside to this salon is that I had to make an appointment to come in. I think they take walk ins, but this place books up so making an appointment is crucial. All in all, I am a very happy customer. Loving my nails! The ladies are so wonderful and my mani looks fierce. A little pricey if your on a budget but well worth the price. My gel mani was $40 but the way I got pampered I would've paid more if I had more money. I for a gel manicure with a matte top vote for that matte finish that is so trendy right now. Meg really took her time, 60 minutes to be exact, such a nice change of pace! Usually I feel rushed when getting a mani at other places but this was so relaxing! Definitely going to come back!
