This is a great place! I was not asked if I wanted a lot of add ons which can get pricey. A very good variety of nail colors to chose from and in the gels too. I don't do gels but my daughters do. I have heard them complain about their nails practically being torn off when it's time to change. I watched the girl next to me getting her gels worked on by a nail girl that took the time to do the process correctly without pain. She was prepared with the foil wraps to give perfect nail care to her client and did not try to file off the natural nail along with the gel. This is my place when I come into Reno from California. First I would like to start by saying that I am someone who comes here enough for my favorite nail technician to recognize me. Today, I came in after work like I usually do because my birthday is coming up this weekend, and I'm heading out of town. Unfortunately, my favorite technician was not available. So I went with a guy who I have not had a good experience with before, but thought if I showed him a picture of how my nails were done last time, that it would be fine. I was... very wrong. It was obvious that he was rushing and trying to get me out of his seat. He did not compare the nail lengths therefore none of them are alike and neither are their shape most of which are glued to my skin. I also realize that the color I chose was not what he put on my nails and my nails were not sealed correctly (gel nails) making them look like shit if I'm honest. As soon as I noticed I had gone back in to complain. I was told that he left for the day and that there's nothing they could do. They told me to come back tomorrow, but like I had said before I am going out of town. So now I am stuck with nails that look like shit and aren't even the color I both told him and showed him in the pictures. They asked me why I hadn't said something before walking out the door and i told them because he told me to go wash my hands and then immediately headed into the back are to gather his things. Been coming here for almost 12 years now and never once had a bad experience, honestly not one time! Everyone, especially the owners Mai and Ken are spectacular people! So are Hung, Suzanne, everyone really, gotten quite used to Suzanne and request her regularly.They have always, always treated me just like family and forever make me feel welcome! They even know me by name! Having tried many different places over the years, I've continually found myself right back here and not bc it's familiar, but simply bc they are all very talented and truly amazing people! I don't usually write reviews, but the service at Sydney's was PHENOMENAL. I walked in and was taken care of ASAP. They offered me mimosa, tea, and water as well as complimentary flip flops! The quality of their work was high. You can tell that they are professionals. They took their time painting my nails and were super detailed about my requests. They knew exactly what I wanted! Take advantage of their signature manicure and pedicure when you want to relax! They take the time when massaging your hands and feet and they finish it up with hot towels. Wow I love this place !! Found myself in the marina in the early a.m needing a pedicure to kill time and Sydney nails opened up early just to accommodate me! They offer hot teA, water with lime or complimentary mimosa with services! The ladies are super friendly, place is very clean and has very calming music playing in the background. I found this place a few weeks ago wandering the Marina on a work break trying to find a nail salon that does acrylics.  After a few fails I stumbled across Sydney Nail Spa.  They were very accommodating and it's a really nice vibe at the salon.  They have complementary snacks, mimosas, lemon water!!  I got a fill on my first visit and I was beyond pleased with the results! I have a nail salon much closer to my work and I love them but whenever I get acrylics done there they start lifting within a day.  My nails after visiting Sydney's were solid! In fact I just made it back yesterday 3 weeks later and they were still super solid!! Everyone there is super friendly and accommodating but I have to give credit to Nancy for how talented she is!! Thank you Nancy, I love my nails again!! I really appreciate your attention to detail and I will be back soon!  Also I have yet to have a pedicure there but I've been paying attention and it looks to die for so next time I want to really treat myself I'm going there!!! LOVE this place. The service here can't be beat. Free snacks and drinks of all sorts plus the nicest owner ever. Even better - after 5 services you get a free 10 minute massage. Jenny's the best and takes great care of her customers. The nail techs vary, some are better than others, but the majority are solid and anytime I've been unhappy, Jenny's more than happy to remedy the situation. For the price, definitely worth it! This place is Amazing the workers here are so so friendly so KIND... OMG the ladies here are so careful, and to the point I love their work.  I brought so many of my friends and family here and they all very  happy. SUPER HAPPY. The soft music and the water drops are so soothing, they serve you wit tea water Champaign candies. It's endless surprises here it feels like HOME. The ladies at Sydney are so talented and sweet.  The space is clean and relaxing.  I have been to other nail salons on chestnut and union, at Sydney the quality of service for the price is unbeatable.  Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to their signature pedicure, it's amazing!  They have never tried  to up-sell on services, I have never heard them push extra massage or a fancy pedicure.  I found out about the signature pedi because I overheard another costumer ask for one.   The owner strives for consistency in service no matter what nail artist you get, and she has succeeded.  Also, if you're not happy about something tell her and she will accommodate.  Go and relax, they will make sure that you do. Wanted to like this place because it's close to my apartment. I tried it a few times and each time it was awful.This last time the water was cold and barely covered my feet. The lady doing my nails cut my toe during my pedicure, no apology or acknowledgement of the fact that blood was going off the side of my toe... She put some thing on it that stung and it continued to bleed. It was a bad enough cut that there's now a scab on my toe. After that she gave me a 2 minute foot massage. They try to move people in and out so fast the quality is terrible. My nails chipped a couple days later. Pros: easy to walk in and get going right away. Large collection of colors including classics and more fun seasonal ones. Setting is relaxing and seems clean. The pedicure I got seems good quality - we'll see in a few days/weeks if it chips.  Bonus points for an extra long leg massage, lemon water and little candies to nibble on in the waiting area!Cons: Definitely on the pricier side ($25 for a pedi, $35 for a mani pedi). Tried to upsell me even before I told them what I was there for. This nail salon really goes above and beyond! I walked in without an appointment on a Sunday afternoon (peak mani/pedi time) and was taken care of right away. It helps that there are a few other nail salons in the immediate area. But now I don't think I'll go anywhere else to get my nails done.They gave me many refills of lemon water and hot green tea while two technicians worked on my hands and feet at the same time. The foot and hand massages were awesome. Most importantly, they did a great job and were very thorough. I was in and out in under an hour. Plus, everyone who works there is super friendly, from the technicians to the receptionist. After I paid, they told me to grab some snacks/candy on the way out. Read Less
