Usually I love this place, but not today.  Ho and Steven did my nails/toes and did a shitty job.  They rushed through doing my nails.  Steven was so rough, with my toes and the massage.  I almost just told him to stop, but I was too irritated to.  Steven should not be allowed to do nails.  He just doesn't have that relaxing touch.  And he hurts. Update:  the owner saw my post and ran outside as we were leaving.  She asked why I didn't say anything?  I'm a nurse.  I'm burnt out on telling people how to do their jobs ect... plus I'm down here taking my mom to her cancer treatments.  I'm tired.  Honestly if she wanted to make it right she should have just refunded some of the charges.  Also the gel on my toes in piled so high it looks so unnatural.  I feel bad having to right a bad review, but somethings are just told as is. Honestly the only nail salon I go to now. I live in NB and I go to the Marina just to get my nails done (its not that far but could go to NB couple blocks away). What's great about Boniva is when you gel manicure, it actually last 3.5 weeks and doesn't chip at all. SO WORTH IT!!! Read Less

My new favorite nail salon! Why? So many reasons!1. My gel manicures last a full week longer than those done at other salons.  They always do a base coat, at least three color coats and a top coat (sometimes two).  Does not chip or peel off for a good three weeks.  French manicures come out PERFECT!  I always get compliments!  2. All equipment used is sterilized with an autoclave machine and packaged in sealed plastic bags.3. Professional, friendly staff.  Everyone wears a matching smock and they are efficient and help one another. Very hard working.4. When I make an appointment, they take me right on time.  No waiting around because they're running late.  Nice and punctual.5. They are VERY FAST!  My last favorite salon did a good job but took forever.  I would be there for hours.  Boniva has so many nail technicians working that they always double up for mani/pedis so you're in an out of there in record time. Huge time saver!6. Very pleasant atmosphere.  As soon as I enter, I'm asked if I'd like green tea or a bottle of water...which is served with an individually wrapped madeleine cookie!In summary: the best nail salon in the Bay Area! Really enjoy coming to this salon! It's on the smaller side, so make an appointment, you may feel a bit in the way if you're waiting for a chair.When you sit or are waiting, you're offered hot tea or water and it always comes with a Madeleine cookie. They're very hospitable and it's always warm inside, perfect for relaxing!I usually get a gel mani and have never been disappointed. The filing is always even and they file the outer edges after polishing, to make sure there's no paint on my skin (these two things are very important to me). I've also gotten the evil eye design once and it turned out really good!Quite often I'll get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed as well. I am SO happy that they listen to me and how particular I am about my brow shape. So many times at other salons I've explained in detail that I would simply like them "cleaned up" and walk out with a thin line. If you pay with cash, you receive a reward card that gives you a free mani after you reach $300 in cash transactions. Also, you must TIP IN CASH ONLY. This was honestly the best experience I've had. Everyone here made me feel at home and the owners were super nice and amicable. They did exactly what I wanted and were fast! They explained how they sterilize equipment and how certain equipment they use is new for every client, definitely put my mind at ease because I've heard horror stories from other places where people have gotten infections. Tiny place packed with chairs and people, but the employees are so nice and talented. Gel manicures normally last 2 weeks max on my nails, but this one lasted 3 weeks!!! Amazing.They also do really fun nail art, just show them a picture of what you want and they execute it perfectly. Read Less

After reading many great reviews I came here on a Saturday morning around 11 just an hour after opening. I did not make an appointment but they seated me right away for a mani pedi. I'm guessing this is easier when you walk in early. The whole time I was there, many appointment were walking in so I'm sure they are extremely busy later in the day to take walk-ins.I got a gel mani and a regular pedi. They matched my gel polish to my regular polish as well. They were very attentive to every detail of my nails. I had an absolute amazing experience. I will definitely be coming here again soon. I felt very rushed the minute I walked in the door even though I was on time for my appointment (which was made several days ahead of time). I was there on a Thursday around 4:30 pm. The salon was very crowed. What could have been a relaxing hour after a stressful day at work was almost like riding a crowded bus home. I felt like customers were being cranked in and out as fast as possible. I was also disappointed that the prices had gone up. It now costs $62 for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. I found the staff to be polite with the exception of the technician that checked me out. They have a sign that says "cash tips preferred" - NOT "cash only tips accepted" or something like that. Though I usually prefer to tip in cash, I didn't have any cash that day. When I checked out I told the woman I wanted to add 20% tip to my total. Of course now I'm paying $74 for my mani and pedi. The technician was clearly bothered by this and suggested I go find an ATM so I could tip in cash. In general I thought the salon was fairly clean and they seem to use fresh tools with each customer. I also thought they did a good job on my nails, but I don't think I'll be back due to the high prices, the assembly line feeling of how crowded it was and the rudeness of staff when I was checking out. I have hairy legs with stubble! Some of the employees made fun of me by making a big deal, laughing, and wearing big rubber gloves to massage my legs, so as not to damage their hands on my rough legs! They had a big laugh at my expense! I had a great mani pedi, but a bruised ego. I was bullied! I thought I was in Jr high! There are women who work there who are kind & competent and it is a lovely setting, but several of the employes need a work over, and a new attitude to not view clients as an opportunity to break the boredom & have a bit of fun. With theses 3 girls here, Mai, Christine and jojo i don't need to pick with who to go with because the 3 of them are awesome. Place is very clean and the atmosphere is so relaxing.
