I yelped a nail shop around my area to avoid traffic and SD Nails is where I decided to go. I called to see if anyone was free and they were. I went in and super friendly. They were a clean location and they had a lot of colors to pick from. They all greeted me and were quick to help me out. One of the representatives offered me water as I had read in the yelp reviews. She was super sweet and very gentle. I can say this is the first place we're I felt very comfortable were sometimes you feel uncomfortable since they speak their language and you aren't ever sure if they are speaking about you. However, I did like my nails and the shape. Just wish they were longer(my preference). I got a gel fill and they charged me $30. Recommend if you want something simple and pretty. Read Less

Today was the first time I tried this place and loved it. I went in as a walk in and Linda took me right away. She did an excellent job on my nails. I asked for Ombré nails with coffin shape. I came here last week after not returning to my old shop. It's not close to where I live but it's very clean, the ladies are very nice, and the nails are seemingly impervious to housework, which I love. It was highly recommended and I see why. My friends and I always got dip powder done in Texas. Since moving here I wasn't having any luck finding a salon that even knew what it was. Thank God for these ladies! I love this location for many reasons, and I'll keep coming back as long as they're open. I've had a chance to get to know most of the lovely ladies here and can attest to how incredibly nice, accommodating, and talented they all are. Lisa, My, and the queen of pedicures (I can't remember her name) are always a pleasure to chat and work with.One thing I noticed is that I love being asked how thick I want my lines (French nails, for example) because, for some reason, other salons I've been to seem to assume they know what you want based on others' preferences- just ask! Lisa and My speak English very well so it's like meeting with an old friend as soon as I walk in. I also enjoy not having to wait for a chair nor have to come back because they're too busy, but I really hope more clients start coming in to experience the warm energy that I have felt. I came to SD nails because I was looking for a place in San Diego that did dipping powder.  I had gotten it done when I was home in PA and loved it!  It's the only thing that stays on my thin brittle nails, and my nails look fantastic for weeks!  Gel polish only lasts about a week on my nails.  I'm so glad I found Lisa at SD nails!  She is the best I have ever gone to!  She takes her time and is absolutely adorable!  She makes me laugh the whole time.  Her attention to detail is amazing!  The corner of one of my nails was chipped and she magically created a new corner for my thumb nail without having to cut the nail, and it looks absolutely perfect!These pictures are my nails after 4 days, an 8 mile hike and multiple training classes with my rambunctious German Shepherd, multiple workouts, and a few days of working at a hospital.  My nails have never stood up to that kind of wear! I am new to the area and so glad to have found SD Nails. I had three technicians for mynails and eyelashes. Kelly did my pedicure, My did my fill and Lisa did my lashes. They all did a fantastic job, took their time, and never did I feel rushed. I love my new lashes, thanks to Lisa for being so particular and her attention to detail was impressive. I was nervous that I would have to go to several different shops before I found a good fit, but I am so fortunate to have gotten it right the first time! P.S. they offer a 15% discount for new clients, which I didn't even have to ask for it, she took it from my total services without being prompted to do so. I am looking forward to my next visit! This is place is pretty great. I wanted to check it out since it's close to where I work. I like that it's easy to find parking in the area and the salon is pretty spacious itself. The spa chairs are pretty comfy and the nail technicians are very friendly. They didn't really offer me different packages for the spa pedicure. I'm not sure if they have them but it would have been nice to know if I had any options besides a basic pedicure. But they did a pretty good job with the pedicure and my fill. I liked how the woman who did my fill asked what I wanted and just did it instead of suggesting how I should shape my nails. Sherry was amazing with fixing my thin jacked up nails , I got a pedicure , acrylic nail removal and over lay for 55$ . Which I feel is moderately priced . I went to this nail salon and came out very unhappy.  It was bad because they injured two of my fingers which were bleeding.  I said, "Ouch!"  I was scared and my hands became sweaty.  The lady continued to paint my nails. but it did not turn out well because when it dried there were some bumps in the paint.  If I am paying for my nails to be done I expect the paint job to be smooth.I just want to point out that I came here before and was happy because they gave me a better nail specialist who did a good job.  I think it was this particular nail specialist who rushed doing my nails and ended up hurting me.I probably won't be back because I am scared I would be paired with the technician again. Sent my wife and sister-in-law here as a gift (to me also - hah!). To give you some context, my sister-in-law lives in Phnom Penh (brother works for Dept of State) and gets foot massages, her hair blown dry and nail stuff done all the time there. First off, Tommy and his team are very friendly and greeted everyone at the door with a warm smile. Then they walked thru the menu while asking careful questions to make sure the ladies got exactly what they wanted. At that point I left, and when I came back to pick up the ladies they raved about the experience and fun they had. After trying a variety of nail salons in the San Diego area, a friend recommended I try Tommy's. This is the greatest salon! The salon is family run and as a result is a very comfortable setting to relax and unwind. The staff is extremely friendly. Further, I have never had better nails ever since I started visiting the salon. I can be very tough on acrylic nails but they do such a great job my nails can last well over 4 wks without needed filing. I have tried salons from downtown SD to Del Mar and have never had better nails or better service. I highly recommend this salon.Read Less
