I had a wedding to go to, and the ladies here did a fantastic job making me look good! I got my hair blown out and curled, and considering it rained, the curls survived! I also had my eye make up down, and they did exactly what I WISH I could do on a regular basis. I would highly recommend blo to anyone anywhere for events or just a fun pamper experience. Called in my appt for sat afternoon and received a confirmation email with time to check in. The salon is conveniently located in gas lamp district and has a modern, glam ambiance and decor. The receptionist was very friendly and offered a glass of Champagne... so fancy! They use a line called unite that is vegan, no animal testing so that's a bonus star in my book. I was warmly greeted by Liz who asked what style I wanted, and she promised that I wouldn't leave unless I was extremely satisfied. Girl, she nailed it. Not only did she give me sexy bedroom hair, she has an infectious, boisterous energy that is pulsating and refreshing. She is a little firecracker and I enjoyed talking to her up until my final reveal, the soft tousled waves of perfectly manicured hair. If this was in Hawaii, I'd come once a week. Renee! She confirmed my appointment, greeted me, and styled my hair. She did a fantastic job, at holding down the whole joint. Super personable, and made my experience fun. Like how clean this location is, but should totally invest on having a front desk girl so the stylist isn't consistently interrupted by walk-ins and phone calls. I'm visiting San Diego for vacation and needed a last minute blow out for a date on Saturday night. I called to make a reservation and the receptionist so kindly told me that there was no availability. BUT, she asked me to hold so that she could see if one of the stylist could fit me in. Luckily, one of the stylists agreed to stay a bit later and I got a same day appointment on a busy Saturday. I have African-American textured hair. I travel a lot and I've gone to other dry bar places before. But, my hair is either dry, crunchy or smells burnt after the service. Bottom Line:  Great for the utmost special occasions or just a little pick me up.Admittedly, at first I didn't understand why I would pay money for someone to dry my hair but now I get it and I'm a huge fan of Blo Blow Dry Bar! They don't just dry your hair here, they pamper you, wash your hair, massage your sculpt and make you feel beautiful.  Originally, I got hooked on Blo Carlsbad and I found my trip to the Gaslamp Location equally enjoyable.  They welcomed me, offered me a beverage, took me on time and nicely styled my hair for my San Diego wedding reception. Terrible communication. I called regarding a bachelorette party of 5 on October 2, 2017. They told me to email for best results. I emailed same day got an email that they would work on the request and now it's October 18th. Still no response. I sent 5 follow up emails and nothing. MY FAVORITE TYPE OF SALONS!!!I've noticed blow out bars aren't as big in San Diego as they are in San Francisco. And all the other blow out bats I've looked at didn't have that volume or look I was looking for. But when I came here, my stylist achieves the look I was describing. I was able to get an appointment the same day for just a blow out service ($45). They have other services here such as makeup if you want a one stop shop. The look I was going for "I have two parties to attend and need my hair to have volume and waves for the next 6-8hrs. We did a blow out with a round brush (my favorite, Olivia Garden brushes) and then used a curling iron and set the strands in place. His will have a curly look at first but will fall out and turn into blow out waves. I love how I don't have the typical thin straight Asian hair; I have a lot of hair with a coarse texture that holds curls perfectly. And yes I always get compliments about how it holds! I reserved a last minute appointment at the blo bar I was able to get squeezed in on a Friday night. When I arrived it was pretty busy and waited a little past my appointment time. My stylist Ashley thanked me for my patience that was so nice of her she sat me down right away did a great job on getting my hair silky straight. I was offered champagne while I was getting my hair done. The girls were very chatty and sweet Alex at front desk was extremely nice she gave me a few samples from the line they carry at the salon to take home with me. I would totally recommend coming here if you need hair done for an event or just need to get styled it's a pretty salon with a nice girl atmosphere. Was in town and didn't have a chance to get a blow dry back home, so I knew I would be googling a place here. I'm usually pretty skeptical because my hair is very curly and textured. As soon as I walked in and met my stylist, Renee, I was confident she had it under control as she has curly hair too. She was so sweet, personable and funny and my hair came out so nice. Make me pretty... Make me pretty! Sometimes us girls need to have someone else do the blowing for us!I have been to the Blo Blow Dry Bar twice now. On both occasions I was on vacation for a bachelorette party and it was important I was looking my best! The first time I came in with a large group of girls in the bridal party and the bride to be. I liked how my hair was blown but when I left the shop all my curls immediately dropped. I wasn't too happy. I guess they didn't use enough hairspray. However, everyone in the shop was a lot of fun, we did a lot of recording and dancing inside to video for the bachelorette party and all the employees were good sports. They even helped us take video footage inside.The second time I came I had a girl named Joya do my hair. I told her what happened in my prior visit and she said she would make sure that it didn't happen again. She did an amazing job and the curls held all night.
