I usually try not to pay too much attention to negative reviews because I know perception can vary. I actually don't like giving negative reviews unless it is truly, deeply, and sincerely deserved. I cannot ignore what just happened to me and my 13 year old daughter at this nail place. We chose Sophie's for my birthday mani-pedi mom/daughter date. We were excited and happy to be together and to be pampered. I ignore the negative Yelp reviews and looked at the surface atmosphere in hopes of a nice experience. BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS ONE. Lee was extremely rude from the start. Maybe he had had a hard day, I don't know but not my problem. He was annoyed because I had made an appointment for a manicure but I had three nails with overlay. I forgot to mention that when I called for the appointments. I admitted my wrong and was obviously willing to pay for the extra service. Apparently, even though I was smiling and happy to pay, he didn't want to deal with my nails at all. I was inconveniencing him. His body language and the way he dropped my hands and grabbed them up was so strange that even my daughter looked over at me with concern. I am thankful he didn't do her manicure. Lee chopped my long finger nails down to little stubs. They are so short now and that was not what I asked for. When he started removing the old gel from my fingers, he was moving fast and he was being very rough. The little scrapper knife scratched my finger. He laughed when I said "please be careful". This guy was so careless. After this initial discomfort, I hesitantly told him that I wanted to remove the acrylic overlay. He told me it was too hard to get off and pushed his rolling chair away from the table. He threw his arms up in the air as if he was done with me. I was done too and I stressfully asked the ladies for someone else to finish my nails. It was so awkward and uncomfortable. A friendly employee took over from there but it was still so unbearable. I told her what was on my mind and how upsetting this was. This woman customer overheard me speaking and jumped in to protect her favorite spot. She had been getting her nails done over in the corner and she had been obnoxiously talking about herself since she had arrived; her boyfriend and her vacation and the hotel and herself, and blah, blah, blah. She had no concern for others around her. Wow, she was self centered and so loud! Nobody wants to listen to chatty people while trying to have some down time. She said she had been going to Sophie's for 20 years and that I had misunderstood Lee and I had no right to talk to him like 'that'.... whatever 'that' is, then she made a snorty laugh like I was the ridiculous one. Wow. Omg, those poor ladies doing her nails have had to listen to her for so many years! T.w.e.n.t.y. y.e.a.r.s of her talking at them about herself. Anyway she had missed the first half hour of Lee being a jerk so she had no position to say a thing. Cray B. Ignore. I just wanted to leave at this point so I stopped my manicure part way through. No nail polish and nail dust all over. My nails looked terrible. My finger hurt too, you know, the one that Lee almost cut off. I asked the manicurist if she was charging me. She said no. Duh, what business owner would have a customer pay after all that went down. So I left quick like. Bye. Never going back. Ever. Telling friends too. It doesn't end! I got in my car. Elvis chased me into the parking lot! He told me I had to pay for my daughter's mani pedi. Ok fine, but I'm not going back in with your crazy loud customer in there. So he told me $60 and he'd be right back with my receipt. When he came back to my car, the charge receipt said $90! What?! He said they wanted me to pay for my messed up pedicure too. I signed it. I signed it to be done. I know. I know. Stupid of me. I was in shock over what had just happened and I just wanted to leave. This place is the worst. Please do not patronize them. Read Less

Be warned: my husband got a serious infection there!!My husband went in for a toe nail trim as he was recovering from spine surgery. The woman who did his nails used small nail clippers despite his thick, large, curled nails. She cut his toe. Badly. Did not apologize. Put a bandage on it and stopped trimming the remainder of his nails, yet charged him for a full pedicure!!The next day, his toe was red, swollen, and infected. Two days later, he was at the doctor who had to lance it and put him on two different antibiotics. Read Less
