Going to a new salon is always nerve wrecking. My hair is my mane (I'm a leo) and I am very picky over who I let touch it. The colour Bar has always treated it right though. I have been to both Sacramento locations and have been to 2 different stylist and they have both been awesome!Customer Service: Everyone there is very welcoming and make sure you feel  like yoir in good hands. All their stylist seem to be knowledgeable on current hair trends and set the bar pretty high for downtown salons.Pricing: By far the best bang for your buck. All ladies cuts are $65 no matter the length which is great for me because I have some really long hair. Plus their cuts are awesome!Coloring: I have had Balayage Coloring put in here and it was exactly how I wanted it. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. The Colour Bar sets a new standard in Sacramento when it comes to hair salons, making their pricing the same price for all lengths of hair when getting a color or cut service (something I appreciate having long hair) and is very hospitable and accommodating to their clients. When I first discovered the Colour bar through google & Instagram, I knew that this was where I was willing to splurge on my hair because EVERY stylist is highly skilled & is up to date with what's trending and different techniques to achieve the perfect "Pinterest/IG look." Although all of the stylists are amazing and talented, I was lucky enough to be Tina's client! I never do yelp reviews but I honestly love what she has done to my hair both times she worked on it. My first session with her, she was able to achieve an amazing purple peekaboo style and I got so many compliments from strangers, even while it was fading. She also was able to cut my hair exactly how I wanted it, not taking too much off but still giving it a nice new shape. A few weeks ago, she was able to turn my hot mess faded purple (due to me not listening to her after care instructions and letting it fade extremely fast) into a gorgeous ombré! I truly love that the Colour Bar really tries to work with you to achieve your hair goals, making me as a client feel like they're not trying to just take my money & book as many sessions as possible, all while still making sure the integrity of my hair is not compromised. I've been to The Colour Bar several times at their H street location, so today was my first time at their midtown location. I am so very happy to report I am absolutely in LOVE with my hair. I had all over color and a trim plus some fringe bangs (I didn't have prior to coming). My stylist was ERIN and she is absolutely incredibly talented at what she does. I showed her pictures, she talked me through the whole process, her scalp massages were superb, and I truly enjoyed the whole experience. She knows what she is doing!! This salon's staff are friendly, knowledgable  and relaxing to be around. The slowed pace and focused care in the hair styling process is a nice change. Cassie is my very talented and sassy stylist. Just went in for a consultation with Sharon last week! Very professional, very sweet and welcoming! Only thing that happened was a glitch while making my actual appointment, which I was told was booked, apparently was not. (Considering i had made that appointment for my birthday, you could imagine I was a bit upset.) I had mentioned that to Sharon, who then spoke to the Salon Manager, Erin, about the problem. This girl knows her colors, especially her blondes.  I wanted to transition away from the foil highlights that I'd been getting for years and try balayage and Cassie did such a fabulous job helping me with this. I am traveling through Sacramento and wanted to schedule time with Cassie but was told that I had to first come in for a consultation and only after that appointment could I schedule an actual appointment. I went here today to get bayalage highlights done by Cassie. She is honestly the BEST. She took the time to really blend out the color so it looked natural and I never once felt rushed. She is super sweet and very talented! She treats every client like an art masterpiece. It is so refreshing to see someone so passionate about what they do. I've never gotten my hair colored before or bleached; she made it her priority to make sure that it didn't turn out orange, (I have very dark hair). I went to Erin Backman with my crazy plan for my hair and she listened to everything I said, made several really great suggestions, and gave me exactly what I wanted down to a T. Cassie at the midtown location is absolutely wonderful! She was very sweet and funny, but she also focused in and gave my hair the attention it needed. I went from shoulder length hair to a pixie cut, and she did a fabulous job. I brought a couple of reference pictures in, and as she was cutting my hair she stopped at a couple of different points to check in about the length and to make sure I liked where it was going. I am so glad that she did, because she left it a little b...it longer and I love it even more than the reference pictures. She was great at communicating with me while in the chair, she asked a lot of questions to make sure she knew what I wanted, and she made me look and feel fantastic. I'm from the bay area and was passing through town, but I may have to find more excuses to head up to Sacramento so that I can visit again. Sharon is the best! I have brown hair but like to lighten it up, especially for summer! She's never damaged my hair in the process. I consider myself to be subtle, so the partial highlighting/ balayage  gives me the perfect amount of coloring to give some life to my hair.She recommended I used the "Oi Oil" and i recommend it to anyone who's struggled with split ends. Went in to see Sharon. I had a very vague description of what I wanted for my hair and she managed to wow me. I asked for a short cut, something easy to style but still stylish. She went above and beyond to give me what I wanted. The salon is super clean and professional. I even purchased 2 of their Davines products. I love Cassie!! First time here after endless amounts of not so good but not so bad stylists, Cassie so extremely attentive to my horrible description of what I wanted in my haircut. I've had a difficult time in the past with finding a stylist who can give me the type kind of blonde that I really want. Cassie at the Colour Bar is AMAZING. She is so talented and down to earth. She listened carefully to what I wanted and gave me my dream hair on the first visit! She's the queen of hair lightening. She recommended I add something called Olaplex and it kept my hair super healthy after coloring. Colour bar is the hair salon to go to! I have had a color and cut done by Cameron twice now and had a great experience both times. I am the type of person that walks in without a picture or thought of how exactly I want my color and cut and I was very impressed with how detailed he is with questions and with the color to get it looking exactly the way you want it (even if you don't think you know what you want!). He even busted out a color palette to make sure we were on the same page. It's nice to know that the person doing your hair cares THAT much about making you happy with your experience. Cassie is who you want to visit! Recently moved to Sacramento I read reviews & FINALLY called todaybecause i desperately needed a haircut. It took me thiisss long because its hard to trust someone new with your hair. Unforuntately i was a new client AND their other location was completely booked so I decided to call the midtown location..Jesse at the front was so helpful with setting me up w/an appt over the phone & they had luckily just canceled someone & i took that slot. Meant to be or nah? Cassie was my stylist and will now continue to be my new hair bestie :) she was very sweet & talkative & made me feel good about my hair.she recommended me products & even let me take a sample of some hair oil & offered tips/tricks to do my new VERY short hair which I am in love with. I was offered wine & water which is always a plus after having to work on a saturday. Only downer was the parking on the street or the 2hour spots which were ALL TAKEN so please come with time. I'm always nervous about new stylists, especially when I want a dramatic change. But I saw the reviews of Colour Bar and took a chance. My stylist, Cassie, was a dream. She listened so intently to my asks and empathized with my frustration with previous results from other salons. (It's the third time I've gone into a salon and asked for platinum highlights, and only she was able to deliver. I honestly think other stylists get nervous that something so dramatic will scare the customer. Not me.) Anyway, Cassie nailed it. I am so happy with my completed look. It's just the drama I was going for. And when a bit of stubborn dye from a previous session wasn't cooperating, she took the time to correct it. And it really paid off. The Colour Bars newest location is super cute! It's a bigger location with a lot more room, only downfall is its not that bright as the other location. I have been a Colour Bar faithful since Lorena first opened her location with a one chair facility. Not other is she amazing, but all of her stylist are great as well, I have been to about 4 of them. This specific visit, I made an appointment via the Yelp app with Sharon because she was the only one with availability. Was I nervous? No, I trust that all the stylists are great and they would make magic happen as always. Sharon is very nice, friendly and fun to talk with. I went in told her what I was thinking and she provided her opinion. I ended up doing what she mentioned and absolutely loved it! She ended up chopping off my hair with a new shoulder length hairdo, after hearing me bring it up about 20 times. She made sure it was something I wanted and went with it. I lived in Sac for a year as an exchange student from Australia at Sac state. I was recommended to the colour bar by a mate and had Sumin each time. She's amazing! The only times I've ever come out of a hair dresser happy with my hair and feeling a million bucks was when Sumin did my hair. I have been going to Sue for my haircuts for almost two years now and I can't imagine going to anyone else! I really appreciate the time Sue spends on teaching me different things that I can do with my hair after she has cut it. Great location, everyone is super friendly from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you walk you. Sue has always been on time except for one time when I received a call informing me she was running a half hour late, which I really appreciated the communication because I was running behind too so it all worked out.
