I came in for a 90min massage with Lucia. The location of this salon and spa is very cute with a gate and it's own little front patio! Street parking is abundant.I highly recommend you see Lucia for a massage. An hour is only a tease so do yourself a favor and go for 90 minutes! I receive beauty services from the following three artists at Beauty Bar On the Ave:LETI: I have been having my hair cut & dyed with Leti since before she opened the salon with fellow co-owner Stephanie, back to when she worked from another local salon in El Sobrante. She has always been a true perfectionist, and I always receive numerous compliments regarding my locks after I receive any services from her, whether it be peek-a-boo highlights, ombre, bayalage/ombre, or a single all over color change! Leti is really that amazing. In regards to cut/trim--gone are the days when you walk into a salon, ask for a slight trim, and walk out with a drastic cut; the opposite of what you wanted. Leti listens to what desired length you want removed, and DOES it. No surprises! She really cares about establishing client trust and will not do something that you do not want. STEPHANIE: I have received facials, brow services, lash extensions, and lash lifts with Steph. I have received excellent services for all of them, and let me advise you--no one else will ever touch my brows! Her facials and lash services are extremely relaxing--don't be surprised if you accidentally take a slight snooze during one of them!MARIA: For some reason, gel polish would never last before I began to receive nail services from Maria. I have been to multiple nail salons in the East Bay, and to my frustration--would have chipping the next day every time! I had even reached the assumption that something might have been wrong, or different with my nails. With Maria, I am currently on week three of my gel mani, have had zero chipping, & my nails are stronger than they have ever been.The below is in regards to the three ladies noted above:They are all very welcoming, and the overall environment of the salon is very friendly.I appreciate how none of them are pushy. They do not try and persuade you to get any add-on services, like at other establishments. It's all about what YOU want. In addition, the ladies educate/share their knowledge with you. For example:Have dry hair? Leti won't just trim your locks and send you away, she will tell you how you can get your hair to where you want it to be, and why you should not do some of the things that you may be doing (hint: NEVER use box dye-I've learned that, and the reasons for it with Leti!). Also, Leti's upmost concern is the HEALTH of your hair. She will inform you WHY it is not advisable to try to go from jet black to platinum blonde in one sitting. If you have any skin issues, Steph will give you at home care instructions after your facial. If you are having issues with your brows, she will advise what to use in order to aid hair follicle growth and how to get the thick brows you've always wanted. Same goes for Maria-- she will tell you WHY it is not recommended to remove your gel polish via peeling--instead of telling you to just not do it. These ladies really care, and are passionate about their craft. Furthermore, another quality that I really appreciate is that you do not feel rushed when you have your services, because services are by appt only. Basically, walk-ins are not accepted, which means that your time at the salon is truly YOUR time alone with any one of the ladies, allowing full dedication. Nancy has been my stylist since before this shop opened and ever since I've never let any one else touch my hair. I'm so glad this cute salon is officially open! I love this little shop! It's my new home. I felt super comfortable the moment I walked in. When I walked in everyone gave me a warm welcome and Nancy (My hairstylist) was ready to go. I have a lot of hair so I spent a great amount of time here and I enjoyed every minute of it! Nancy's skills are impeccable! She has managed to bring my hair to a light bayalage/ombré without damaging it(my natural hair color was a very dark brown.) I now have healthy long layers of blonde,and I am in love with it!
