This is my new favorite nail salon. If you wanna get in, you have to make an appointment at least a few days ahead of time. Prices are fair and the quality of their work is awesome. All the estheticians at Refresh are professional and very talented. I live in San Francisco, but I make a special trip to Pacifica just to see these ladies. My mom recommended this salon to me as I needed a fresh manicure and I'm really happy with how it turned out! Such a pretty color and Ann helped me choose a gorgeous glittery holographic topcoat. I made a same day appointment over the phone for a mani/pedi. When I arrived I did not have to wait and there were two technicians working on me at the same time, one doing my pedicure and one doing my manicure. They both did a fantastic job and were very nice to talk to. The prices are perfect and they prefer to have tips in cash, but they do except credit cards. There is also plenty of parking!  I will definitely be going back here regularly. The only improvement that could be made is the polishes could be color coordinated on the shelves to make choosing a color easier/faster. Read Less

A young girl took care of me about two months ago.  She made some smudges in the color, which she did not notice and I had to ask her to clean them up.  On the leg massage, she just did the same thing over and over, which was annoying.  She had no idea how to do massage.  My daughter was taken in 10 minutes before me and I watched her pedicure and massage with envy.  We finished at the same time, though I was taken 10 minutes later.  My manicurist smiled a lot but had no idea what she was doing.  Extremely overpriced for the service. My personal experience.First it makes me sad to have to share this but I found it so compelling...AND I took several days before actually posting it. You know how some people say sleep on it...well I did and still there is no way around this review. I made an appointment ask for Mitzy based upon these reviews. From my personal experience,it seems she only likes the regular local rich housewives.Mitzy is looking for your diamonds handbag or shoes to determine what kind of service she will give. So don't put them in your purse before you go in like I did.This women snatched my hands around abruptly yelled when I was putting my hand in the dryer oven for a 3rd time. When I told her (after the 2nd time she snapped at me) you need to let me know in advance how many times to put my hand in the dryer, she completely stopped talking/responding and began pouting like a child for the entire remainder of my service. Once complete she abruptly jumped up, went over to a lady sitting at the very last pedicure chair to do her nails never saying a word. I gathered my things and walked to the front. After a few minutes of  feeling awkward, I struck up a conversation with another customer in chair one as I stood in front of the store for at least another 3-5 mins as one of the other techs yelled out Mitzy! you see whoever does your nails is supposed to collect. I did not know that. But just to show you how nasty and biased this woman is she ran over to a "regular" to stick her head as far up her butt as she could before even collecting my money and the tip I gave her anyway. You see, what goes around comes around Mitzy and if you think that everybody wears their money on their hands or the type of purse they carry you're wrong. Most importantly all of the US currency folds the same spends the same.The back story: I schedule with Mitzy and another young lady began taking off my gel polish while I was in the pedi chair. when she asked how I wanted my nails shaped I told her I had an appointment with Mitzy, she yelled over to Mitzy and they began yelling back and forth in their native language. Nothing is more rude.So again only diff. in this salon and others the polish seems to last because of the quality of the polish and the oven used to dry it. I've been a customer here on and off for a couple years now. For the most part,  this salon is accommodating, the service is friendly, and select people do an excellent job. The only reason for the reduction of a star is because of the following: 1) There isn't consistency with quality with every staff member 2) When I made my appointment, I specifically asked to have both a pedicure & manicure done at the same time due to time constraints, but that didn't happen  (luckily I planned extra time for this since this has happened before) 3) As mentioned above,  you have to figure out who does a good job. With all that said,  I am happy with my nails. Amy did my regular pedicure: She was sweet and took her time doing it right. This is my first coming here. I haven't yet to find a place that does great pedicures until now! I found this place through Yelp and read a lot of great reviews with them. I have to say this place is really great! Tina and Ann are my favorite manicurists. Especially because Tina told me I didn't need to get the acrylic nails I came in for because my nails were pretty strong. So she convinced me to get a gel coat even though she would have made more money doing acrylic. She wasn't trying to make as much money as she could off off me, she was more concerned about helping me take care of my nails. Very easy and pleasant experience for me and my niece. We got great pedicures with a next-day appointment during the holidays. Loved the hot stones, new to me.  Friendly technicians. This place almost lost a star for ambience, sparse decor, barely audible spa-tunes, and no TV to occupy your mind. So when I go alone I guess I'll look at my phone like everyone else. But the chairs were functional and comfortable, something that my regular spot sorely lacks. For $5 more than the super low price I'm used to paying, I think I just changed nail salons. Read Less

Love this place - and I have a place in SF that I've loved for years. But when I can't make it there, I gladly come here! It's great that there's no TV blaring nonsense st you while you get pampered. Yes, it can be a little chaotic at times - if you can, make an appointment but I've done walk in, too. The women are all great - and their foot massages with hot stone (included!) are phenomenal. Very friendly and they will chat with you if you strike up a conversation - otherwise they will let you just relax in peace and quiet if you like. I loooove this place. Called in same day on a weekday approximately an hour before early in the morning and she set up an appointment for me. I'm not a spa girl and this was the fist time I've done a manicure, even more gel manicure, as well as a pedicure.      So the place is really relaxing and not much if any talking. Would be cool if they had relaxing music in the background kinda awkward science at first idk maybe that's just me. Their massage chairs are AMAZING.      I got a deluxe pedicure for $32 and gel manicure for $25 idk but I recall the whole total was exactly $60. I had this sweet amazing girl, I forgot her name :( I think Nancy not sure, but she truly was GREAT. She took her time and really accommodated everything for me. She massaged my feet so well for over an hour! This deal included foot wax (like a mask for those who don't know. I didn't wax or shave thought I'm literally gonna get my legs waxed before :/ yea that was very smart of me) also had hot stones and warm clothes and this great peach lotion and more massage up to your knee. I understand it's part of the deluxe but she was paying full attention and actually enjoying it while I was observing the lady next to me also getting a pedicure, unfortunately her girl was not really concentrated so I'm so pleased for my pedicure experience as it was WONDERFUL!      As for my manicure, I'm pretty sure I had Jeanette although she seemed kind I wasn't really feeling a vibe but maybe cuz it's morning and no one feels like talking. I think for Jeanette I would give her 4/5 cuz the water and stones for me were there before I sat down and idk if the were clean or she had used them for the lady before me. Now let's assume the best and say it was clean, when she told me to put my hands in, 45 min into my pedicure, the water was cold and I think I was more shocked and I didn't feel comfortable asking her to change it or maybe it's because the place is dead silent it felt awkward. I just wish she was more communicative. All in all, she did well and I loved my nails.     In regards to my gel manicure, the color was so pretty (pearly peach) and it actually lasted me a whole week and almost a half before it started to chip a bit but not noticeable. The only down side is removing the gel manicure as I did not know how much they charged so I decided to do it myself and that was the worst idea EVER. Will attach pictures.     Leaving the salon, they give you a business card and they mark the back every time you pay cash. Basically, you bring this card and they document your visit. I've moved to the area, and miss my ZaZaNail Spa in Fremont.4 stars for the nail techs and the quality of the service itself, and price/value. Though some nail techs are a little rough.but overall, I knock 2 stars because I have never felt relaxed hereI'd gladly pay more if they fixed a few things:-Ventilation/Odors: the place is poorly ventilated in my opinion. There is a mixture of food smells, polish / chemical fumes/smells-Noise: The nail techs talk loudly in Vietnamese almost the entire time to each other; The phone rings with caller id announcement constantly-Lighting: Not relaxing in my opinion; soft lighting would make this place feel so much nicer-they assure me they are clean, but they could take the extra step and use disposable bags for the instruments - I always wonder - are those instruments clean? I'm not just giving away stars- this is the best nail salon I've enjoyed (after trying many in four different states during my adult years)- they work the hardest, keep their salon clean and tv free and the results speak for themselves! After coming here about 10 times I decided to have the salon do my nails and all of my bridesmaids for my wedding. I made a reservation about 3 to 4 weeks in advance and they took care of us very nicely (8 of us) A year later I'm still going back here every 2 to 4 weeks. I am moving in 2 weeks and so today I went there for the last time and I'm very sad, but I have to say the manicure I got today is the most beautiful I've ever had! Not exaggerating. Been here twice and both times my nails turned out great. First time I arrived at Refresh Nail Care I waited 10-15 minutes. My second time, I made an appointment at 4pm and wasn't seated for my appointment until 4:20pm-ish.... Made me question if making an appointment here was even worth it. Minus one stars for not accommodating my appointment time and still making me wait. If you pay by cash - (tips in cash only BTW) you get a business card with stamps on it. I believe your 10 times coming in paying with cash you receive a free nail session or discount? Can't recall at the moment... but you do get something nice! :)Gel Manicures - My gel manicures are nice, and last a really long time. It is also cleaned very well.Pedicures - I love their pedicures because they massage longer than most nail spa's and with hot stones. I hate giving out bad reviews but I definitely need to address it on here. I've been a customer of this salon since last year. Granted I don't always go here all the time but I do go there at least once every three months. The service and details used to be very good. The nail technicians used to be very friendly and they always smiled whenever they saw a customer walk in. At my recent two visit, they turned away customers who didn't have an appointment. Which I totally understand because the business picked up pretty nicely.I always get a pedicure and gel manicure. Back then, the stone massages used to be five minutes long and there would be a great amount of pressure for your massage. Now, they just slap lotion on your legs *rub rub rub, done!*. Also, it is kind of painful when they try to get the gunk out from under your toes. Gel manicure normally last about 2-3 weeks. It has only been 3 days and it already chipped! See attached pictures. Can I get a HALLEJUJAH for this Pacifica gem? I have been on a madwoman quest for a decent nail salon in the Peninsula area. Been to a few lackluster places, and Refresh Nail Care stood out the most to me. The ladies here are genuinely friendly and are ever so obliging to your requests. Once you walk in, you are immediately acknowledged and taken care of. They welcome walk-ins, but it is highly recommended that you make an appointment anyway, especially Friday to Sunday. What I yearn for, the most, after an arduous workweek is the intimate foot massage during the pedicures here. Sorry, no happy ending here boys. They really take their time to make you feel relaxed, even when they have waiting customers. I have been to many places, where I do not get an extensive foot massage. Yeeah, yeah, I know not to expect a comprehensive massage, but hey, if I can get away with one at Refresh Nail Care, why not? Ooh lawdy ladies, feel free to touch my feet and apply that divine pressure anytime! The Deluxe pedicure for $30.00 is a slice of heaven. Add $4.00 for French tips.
